Beware of Bass Pro in Nashville…

Beware of Bass Pro in Nashville Tennessee. I ordered a 22 rifle for our grandson’s birthday. When I went to pick it up today. It was the most awful experience of my entire life. What has happen to costumer services?
First upon arrival, at least 3-4 employees were behind the counter. Not once was any of the 5-6 customers ever acknowledged. We asked 2 different employees. All they would say is to register using the “Q” with our cell phones. Ok then. We did that. It said waiting time 7 minutes. Ok. Out of the 3-4 employees, 1 was checking out a purchase. Ok then. As I was watching the monitor, waiting time went from 7 to 10. A female employee walked by. So we asked her for some assistance. Her response was to use the “Q” again. We informed her we had already done that. That’s when we noticed the waiting time was now at 13 minutes. So I asked for a manager. The girl said sure. We waited for a few more minutes. A young man who said he was the manager came out. By then to say the least, I was getting upset. He begins to tell me about the “Q”. So I asked him what had happen to costumer services? While trying to get some information and showing him that we had jumped through their hoops. Now it was up to 20 minutes. I’m so sorry to admit to it but that was the last straw for me!!! I demanded for a refund and stated I would rather pay extra amount of money than to buy anything else from any Bass Pro.
If anyone ever buys from this over priced chain. I truly hope your experience is better than what we had to endure.

Order flagged erroneously. Was told manager doesn't accept calls.

I tried to make a purchase for a little over $250.00. Woke up this morning to see the purchase was canceled. I checked with my bank to make sure it wasn't anything on their end like "flagged for suspicious activity". Nope, everything normal with my bank. I call up Bass Pro Shop customer service and was transferred to their Fraud team.

Their fraud team informed me that my order was flagged and that once it's flagged there's nothing they can do. I asked them, "Flagged for what?". Was told they can't tell me the reason why.

I told the agent, "I have more than enough money in my account. My name on the order is the same as my card used. The billing address is the same as the shipping address. Even my email is the same. I can verify all the information that you need me to. I've had this bank account since I was 16" (I'm 38 for pete's sake). The woman responded with, "Unfortunately, we can't tell you why it has been flagged. Generally, when it's been flagged its due to suspicion of fraud. Again, once it has been flagged there's nothing we can do." I tell her that she means to tell me that they have some mystery system, most likely ai or something, that makes these decisions and once it does... there's nothing you guys can do?????

I asked to speak to a manager and she stated, "Unfortunately, our manager does not accept phone calls. I recommend you purchase the item from a store." The nearest Bass to me is an hour away and is out of stock. The next closest store has limited quantity AND IS IN ANOTHER STATE. I informed her of that. She apologized and said, "Unfortunately, once it's been flagged there's nothing we can do. My manager does not accept phone calls nor emails." I asked if I tried to make that purchase again with a different card, would it go through? She said most likely not. I asked her to transfer me to the manager for customer service. She told me "guest services will most likely just transfer you back to me anyway.". I insisted and she said ok. She then transferred me to the main menu. As in the automated menu when you first call.

Long story short: My order was erroneously flagged. No discrepancies in billing and shipping info. Fraud team says once their "system" flags it, they can't do anything about it. No, I can't try to speak to a manager as they don't accept calls. No, I can't use a different card to make the purchase as my name and address is the same. No, they can't do anything to make this situation right.

I did absolutely nothing wrong here. There is a flaw in their system and they take no accountability. They are, no doubt, losing thousands to situations like this as I know if it happened to me... it has happened to others. The fact that I was flagged was not the most upsetting part. The most upsetting part was that I was flagged, their staff isn't given the ability to make it right, and I was told that I wasn't allowed to speak to a manager about it. Shame on them.

Poor Customer Service to Club Members Like Me

Update, BPS has so many Customer Service complaints. Why is Johnny Morris allowing all this BS and lies from Customer Service Support.
I have been an understanding customer at Bass Pro Shops since 2017, when I purchased a new boat. Note I am a Bass Pro Shop Club Member and on July 18, 2023, heading out of North Carolina to Charleston, SC, I stopped at BPS in N. Myrtle, to purchase some of the $5.99 BPS Caps, to take to family, nieces and nephews. I was told until reaching the register by a rude employee Charles, "we can only accept cash, our system is down all morning." He suggested I go draw money out of an ATM. First, I was paying almost $50 of this purchase with my Rewards I had built up and paying cash would not get credit for my Rewards on this purchase. He said it should be up soon. I waited around for many hours, went to get something to eat and returned and told system is still down, I can pay cash. I left, I was already several hours late getting to Charleston to begin with. I stopped back in there on the way back home to North Carolina on July21, 2023. I have been looking for the solid Pink Caps for $5.99, because of a family member a cancer survivor. to give to many of her family and friends for the support given to her. Then got home and called Customer Service inquiring about the Pink Cap for $5.99. They were no help and even with my name typed in emails I sent them, they sent responses back to a Tareese. My name is Ronald Kizer. They were out of stock. However, showed some back in stock but can't ship to home address, only available at 2 locations, Cabela's in Garner, NC and again BPS in N. Myrtle Beach. You would think being a good customer for 6 years, they could have reached out and made arrangement to ship me some from those 2 locations after paying with my Bass Pro Shop Club Master Card. But they haven't. Fine, I have another order to be delivered on July 29, 2023, from them. When it arrives because of the bad Customer Service for over a week, will pay my balance off on my Club MasterCard by BPS and find another place to shop online. Customer Service doesn't mean anything to BPS.

Order a new x-bow and it said it would…

Order a new x-bow and it said it would take 5-6 days to arrive at the store. Well almost two weeks later and $2,500 later it still hasn't arrived. Then of course Bass Pro will not let you cancel an order just because it never arrived and make you wait until it finally shows up at the store. They should just shut down all online ordering since they refuse to help customers or even understand their own system.

Had a great experience at Savannah…

Had a great experience at Savannah store today. Boat service staff provided needed part for my trolling motor and installed it for no charge. Also shopped in the store and staff was very helpful. Even saved money with the club card. Thanks!

I wouldn't recommend buying Accend…

I wouldn't recommend buying Accend kyaks from Bass Pro, I have purchased 2 of them one in 2020 and one in 2021. Both were only used 8 and 4 times. I called Bass Pro since I still have the receipts and was told since it is over a year they couldn't help me. Which is really too bad since between the two I spent over $1,400.00. I know where I will not be buying kyaks from in the future.

my wife purchased a jar of peaches…

my wife purchased a jar of peaches $14... she dropped the jar and it shattered. We went to the new store in Sunset Hills, Mo and asked for a free replacement or at least offer a discount to repurchase, but the manager said NO on both requests. This is disappointing and I am unhappy.

Went to Bass pro to get a pistol I had seen online. I have to use a scooter in store to get around because of my hips. I seen they had the gun and asked to see it. Decided I wanted it and the guy got the IPad gave it to and said there are new questions you have to figure them out on your own I will not help you. I have bought 25 or more guns from bass pro and Cabela’s over the years. I answered all the questions and he took the iPad away be forenImreviewd it then came back and told me I could not purchase the gun. I said why and he said I can not tell you. You have to seek legal help. That was not the bad of it. My wife tried to buy a gun later and they told her that she was a self proclaimed seller of guns to illegal aliens. Blurted it out with people standing around all over. I went to the manager about it and he told me well listen to what I am saying if you go to another bass pro you can buy the gun because we don’t share info with others. I did and was told everyone at my address is banned from ever buying a gun at Bass pro and Cabela’s forever. Guess I never ever buy at Bass pro or Cabela’s ever again. So much for my Cabellas black card. Stay away people. You make one mistake your banned for life.

Firearm purchase gone wrong.

This would have been my second gun purchase in five weeks. Bought online while on sale, with a 5% military discount. Cheaper than anyone else.
After I filled out the ATF 4473 form, the manager would not approve it to be called in. Seems I made some sort of mistake, and they refused to tell me what the mistake was. Then they tell me I must wait 90 days before I can attempt another gun purchase with them. So do I want a full refund or wait 90 days. LOL that was a easy answer.

This is a ridiculous policy for waiting 90 days. Excellent policy to lose customers. I am done with Bass Pro.

Even with the other gun purchase the 4473 form had to be looked at by several employees and then the manager before it could even be called in. Not the fastest process.

My other complaint is the stupid scenic entry / exit way, my god why not just a normal driveway.

I don't understand the low ratings…

I don't understand the low ratings here. My experience with Bass Pro is 5 out of 5. They have the products I want and need, most often in stock, and free shipping to store when they don't. While I find their fly fishing experience here in South Florida lacking in knowledge, they have plenty of product.

Worst experience buying

Worst experience buying. Said item was ready for pickup. Drove all the way there to find out it wasn't. Had to argue to get the veterans discount
The sales price and what's on my credit card aren't the same. The company can't be trusted.

Consistently nagged

Every time I go into bass pro I am always asked about a credit card. I can't even just look without being asked about their credit cards. I don't need a another credit card and don't want one especially if I am going to be asked on a consistent basis. All it is a way for the corporation to make more money. One employee said they don't even earn any extra commission or bonus for getting a referral. That tells me they don't compensate thier employees very well. Things like this make me want to spend my hard earned money elsewhere.

Doesn’t even deserve one star

Doesn’t even deserve one star. Bought a metal detector online $1600. I tried to return it to the store… They wouldn’t take it. Because it is been payed for with Pay Pal. I had to ship it back and they can’t even confirm that they received it at the warehouse. It’s been almost a month. Should have just taken it back at the store. Then figure out a way to get me the money. This is just lousy business. I won’t buy anything again from bass pro. I suggest you don’t either.

Firearm Purchase / Ban

First off, I (use) to love going to Bass Pro and would support them in their firearm department at much as I could, even though their prices are higher, and their purchase process is beyond ridiculous and they require about 2 dozen employees to review the paperwork.

However, I recently tried to purchase a pistol (as I've done numerous times) and misread one of the two new questions the wonderful AFT added to the form earlier this year. Because of this, I was denied the purchase, understandably. The problem I discovered is that apparently it is store policy that if you answer a question wrong on the application (regardless of the reason, even if it was an accident), you are banned for LIFE from purchasing firearms at ANY Bass Pro or Cabela locations. The only way to get this changed/reversed is to get legal counsel. Is this not the most absurd thing you've ever heard in your life?

Not a come back tomorrow and try again, or you're temporarily suspended for firearm purchases for X weeks. Nope, you're banned for life for a simple mistake, unless you want to pay thousands for legal counsel.

Bass Pro was one of the last stores I truly supported in this age of wokenness. However, after their ridiculous policies, I can't support them any longer in any department. I hope they fail and sink like the rest of them.

For those that do shop here, I would recommend shopping elsewhere and supporting other FFL's, ones who care and support law abiding citizens, will work with you, and not treat you like a career criminal because of a simple mistake.

Had about $200 in clothing purchases. Came to a long line not moving for a long while, one check out in Richfield, WI store. Asked the sunglass guy near his register that another line should be opened up. His response, he's in his assigned spot. I set my clothes down and said AMAZON is quicker and friendlier. I left. The guy in front of me took my cue and left too, telling his young son, we can get this at Fleet Farm, this is ridiculous. When do you add enough help to accommodate being quicker than me going to order on AMAZON, it just send a bad message and experience for me not to want to shop in store, except from time-to-time to touch and feel something and order it on-line, because it is quicker.

The boat department has only on good Salesmen

The boat department had only one good sale person he new boats answer my question help me to pick the right boat. The boat manager is a person who know nothing about boats his name is Al Lopez do not deal with him. Ask for Dan Moment he has the experience in boating business.

I smell a rat at the gun counter

Saw a modestly priced handgun which BPS website claimed was available at my nearest store in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. That’s still 70 miles away but I thought I’d go for it.

Got there 9am when the store opened and was second in line at the gun counter. Was approached by 2 employees trying to sell me on the BPS credit card but one showed me how to scan in for my place in line. So I wait. And wait. Another customer asks me if I’m in line and I show him how to scan in like I did. He then wanders up to the other end of the counter and gets served. I’m a patient guy but this happens TWICE before someone asks me (like it’s an imposition) if I’m in line and need assistance.

I finally get to inquire about the handgun and am told, yes, they have one, but it’s on hold for a customer who called the previous evening. On hold?! So why is it still showing as AVAILABLE in store? Also, has the customer paid for it?? Apparently not as that option isn’t available on their site. So I’m there ready to pay and start the paperwork but they’re holding it for someone who may or may not show up to buy it later that day? I smell a rat. Ever wonder why the handguns you want are always out of stock? Makes you wonder if these places aren’t giving their pals or even themselves choice of the best products and leaving us to scavenge what’s left. Forget it. I’ll shop elsewhere.
