Great experience
Ordered my first box and had an amazing experience, all the food was great quality, and the savings were immense. All packed nicely and securely in a rigid cardboard box. Will definitely be ordering again!

I had to cancel it. To my utter shock they informed me that a £2.50 cancellation charge would be taken from the refund.
So basically they steal £2.50 for the cancellation. I will never shop with them again and do not recommend them. Order number 8308847
Sadly I joined them from the very beginning, it’s a shame they have become yet another profit hungry company.
No delivery and poor customer service
First order went OK, but the second order was placed on the 18th March, message from DPD on 24th March to say they are expecting order, 25th March DPD reporting returning to sender without any delivery attempt, no response from Approved Food since then after email to customer service, no phone number available beyond a voice message service.
Used to be a good company
Their customer service just gets worse. Lazy and unwilling to do what is required. They used to be a good company, but of late, their prices have crept upwards, and their standards have crept downwards. Will be giving Discount Dragon my next order.

Placed an order 5 days ago, got an email and text saying it would be delivered on this day between 17.35 - 18.35 (Friday). So I changed our plans to stay in. On the DPD app it showed the van in the next street for over an hour. We then got a text message saying " sorry we missed you"....what does this mean ?
The food order now shows it back at the DPD depot and we got a text message saying it will go out on Monday now !!
At this rate the best before dates will truly be way out...
Not worth the headache and long lead time on this. So will not be using Approved Foods ever again.
Great for ultra processed carbs.
If you're looking for ultra, ultra processed foods and carbs, AF is your store. Masses of unhealthy snacks, including loads of American stuff with their unusual additives. Some great prices when on flash offers.
Useable everyday stuff? Hardly any, these days, and the prices of these items aren't much cheaper than supermarket or Amazon.
I really want to find the positive in today's AF. Fond memories of years of fantastic bargains: cupboard staples, cleaning products, excellent wine buys, pet foods, and then the luxury brands I loved but wouldn't usually be able to justify. So many choices, I used to spend way more than I should, but got so much for my money! Past best before dates but always edible. Lucky boxes were fantastic value. Very rarely had a problem with items or even delivery.
It's changed. Masses of stock; very little you want to buy, so it's really difficult to make up a £22.50 order these days. There's a limit as to how many unhealthy snacks one can/should consume in a week.
It's not just the stock that's changed, quality has too. Lucky boxes full of years old food - straight to the bin. Mouldy Malt loaves. Mouldy pastry on cakes. Hardened, stale chocolates. Badly damaged items. Temperature/storage problems in the new warehouse? Quality control no longer monitored?
I've even stopped buying the cosmetics as so many have been too old - had rashes and reactions.
It's not been every order of such items, but I've lost confidence in buying them now.
Plus, delivery costs are now £4. Fair enough, they've been £3 for years. But with the reduced availability of staples, and those prices not much lower than elsewhere, it's usually not worth it now.
Customer service remains good - not their fault that stock quality has fallen, and packing has improved, overall.
I'd hoped the reduced stock choices would be temporary and they'd return to their previous broad range of suppliers, but for whatever reason, they no longer stock the kind of things or quality that I want to buy, sadly.
I do still check, but it's gone from "Ooh, it's like Christmas!" and a lengthy basket pick to "Meh" and a couple of minutes browse of hundreds of strange snacks. It seems AF are now choosing more suppliers off loading the stock they can't sell because their customers don't want it, rather than those who had surplus of everyday items, close to their BB dates.
Still worth a quick look - last week they had 2 (2!) bottle of nice wines available but they went within seconds, before I could even add them to my basket. But the odds of getting good stuff have greatly reduced. Has been a month since I've found enough to make up an order. I will keep an eye in case they change their suppliers back to their excellent old ones.
What I'm giving 3 stars for is the long suffering customer service, and the BB dates of the snacks have greatly improved. If every few months you want to stock up on crisps, biscuits and fizzy drinks, they're likely to be a safe bet. But if you're looking for everyday staples, pet foods, household products, wines - save your time and effort and just go to the supermarket or Amazon.

I know items are sold out of date
I know items are sold out of date, but I ordered Mr Kipling Apple pies dated best before September ‘25 expecting them to be edible. On opening, the pastry was completely green with mould. I won’t be using this Company again!
Order damaged in transit twice and only minimal refund
My order failed to turn up on the day stated by the courier so I accessed the tracking link and was told to contact the supplier as the package had been damaged in transit. Customer service was great - the order was repacked and sent out as priority. I stayed in again to accept the order but only one of 2 boxes were delivered. There was no notification that one was missing so I emailed customer service. This time, despite nearly all the missing items being in stock, customer service said the order could not be re-picked and offered a refund on just the missing items which were the free item and highest discount items. So I only got a minimal refund and lost out on most of the value of the order.
Shame but I have lost trust in the company and will not be ordering again. I had previously made several orders which were nearly all good quality. A minority of items were past their best but this is fair enough considering the high discount and clearly stated expired best before dates.

Took my order well before Xmas
Took my order well before Xmas. Paid for fast delivery. Was told they would try for delivery before Xmas failed to do that and actually emailed today asking if I still wanted my goods. I confirmed I did and now there saying was a mix up here's a refund. Did they just want my money over Xmas? Absolutely useless.
DANGER
DANGER: Selling 6-Year-Old, Expired Cosmetic Serums – Serious Health & Safety Hazard.
I placed two separate orders and received cosmetic serums (including eye serum) that are 5 to 6 years past their manufacture date.
The website provided ABSOLUTELY NO information regarding the extreme age and expired nature of these specific items before purchase. I have saved evidence (screenshots/website copy) proving this omission.
This is a serious public health and safety violation, not a simple customer service error.
I strongly advise other customers to not buy any beauty product from this company!
Poor promotional availability
Received an email showing products on one day promotion and in less than 10 minutes one of the items was out of stock.
Why add products to a promotion if you don't have enough stock?
However, this item will probably be back on sale in a few days at full price.

Ordered 4 boxes of protein bars and on receipt they was made in December 23 with a best before date of December 24. I contacted them and they stated the date was on the web site but they could not show them anymore on the Web site as they had all sold out, I could return them but at my cost, a waste of £45.00. Why would anyone eat bars that are a year past the best before date. I will never use them again.

Have gone elsewhere where you can get things like crisps for 40p and noodles for 20p etc
There are hardly any real bargains to be found on Approved Food anymore as much as I really like the owner and his adorable children!

I’ve ordered twice from this website recently and it’s been a god send. My son is autistic and has taken a liking to a specific food item that is of course limited edition! It is no longer available anywhere local to me, so discovering Approved Food had the item available has allowed me to stock up. The option to rush your order is brilliant, I received my order in less than 24 hours. Absolutely no problem with the best before dates, the website is transparent about this on the specific items and it has in no way compromised the food’s quality that we’ve received.

I have had a few items which werent usable eg orange juice which was off.but on getting intouch my refund is hopefully coming back to my bank account
Not a good experience
What a scam. Ordered 7 items at a cost of £27 (6 out of stock) but only told five days after placing order. Had an email saying that I was getting a credit note!! The seventh item (worth £1) that was in stock was sent for delivery at a cost of £3. An absolute joke. You are not a bank! You do not get to keep my money!! Do you not know the law, or are you just hoping that no one contacts you and you get to have customer money sat in your accounts gathering interest. An absolute scandal and a disgrace.
Update: full refund and apology received. Good customer service, but I still believe I shouldn’t have to chase and it shouldn’t be policy to keep customer money (as I have read on MSE).
Pointless terms and customer service
When signing up to ApprovedFoods I added two addresses to my account, one for billing & one for shipping. Upon checking out my order there was no option to confirm your address, needless to say they said they were going to ship my order to the wrong address which is a virtual unmanned business address. I immediately e-mailed them telling them this, No reply. Not to worry though as their terms state if you want to change your order you can as long as the order is still processing and hasn't been dispatched. I emailed them the following morning whilst the order was still processing and received a reply from Claire confirming that they had my details and my order would be delivered to the correct address. Following day and surprise surprise I was notified my order had been delivered to the wrong address. I've emailed again to complaining about this and haven't received a reply as of yet. Won't be buying from them again if I don't
