Great products I couldn't find elsewhere. Speedy dispatch. Great packaging. Super happy

I placed a fairly large order for Granoro pasta for several Italian family members, including elderly relatives who had specifically requested certain products.

Three packets arrived open, with pasta loose inside the shipping box. I contacted the company immediately and provided photographic evidence. They asked me to return the damaged packets and specifically told me that replacements would be sent once the return was received.

I returned them straight away. Once they received them, I was then told that the replacements were actually out of stock, and they simply issued a refund.

But the most disappointing part came afterwards.

I discovered that the pasta originally supplied was not even what I had ordered. I ordered Granoro Penne No. 27 i Classici, the smooth version, exactly as shown and described on their website. Instead, I received Granoro Penne Rigate No. 27, the ridged version.

Initially, I genuinely thought I had made the ordering mistake myself. I even explained to my Italian family that I had ordered the wrong pasta. It was only later, when someone from the company mentioned that their picker had sent the “closest shape”, that I checked my order carefully and realised the mistake was not mine.

They had substituted the product I ordered with a different type of pasta without contacting me or asking for my agreement.

For a specialist Italian food business, I find this particularly difficult to understand. The difference between smooth penne and penne rigate matters, especially when people have specifically requested one type. If something is unavailable, simply contact the customer and ask whether they would like an alternative. Deciding that another pasta is “close enough” and sending it without permission is not acceptable.

I tried several times to explain my frustration and give the company an opportunity to properly address what had happened, but I never felt that the situation was genuinely acknowledged.

Eventually, after discovering everything that had gone wrong and deciding I simply wanted to move on, I had to order the three missing packets from another company at additional cost so that the elderly family member waiting for them could finally receive what I had promised.

Between the opened packets, the unapproved substitution, being promised replacements that were not actually available, and the way the situation was handled afterwards, this has been an extremely disappointing experience.

Sadly, I will not be ordering from this company again.

Not great - ordered a 5kg bag of Italian flour as a gift so a friend could try it, they sent a 1kg bag - i emailed them and they said they would send the other 4 x 1 kg bags out - in told them I didn't want 5 x 1 kg bags i wanted the 5kg bag i ordered - they then sent 4 x 1kg bags of short dated flour out - not mega but give me what i paid for

Worst experience with food company ever. Made an order for a Bday event of approx £300. Ordered 5 days in advance to avoid any risk (website states 48hrs delivery). It arrived late so I could not cook some of the frozen food. They were out of stock with 3 items out of 12 so they called me to find replacements the day before dispatch.... And eventually I didn't even receive the replacements! With not a single £ of discount for the disruption!! Not recommended at all.

Ive placed a few orders with adimaria now and have been very pleased every single time. The delivery times are quick even when just ordering flour. Also.when ordering fresh products and cheese they always come in a refrigerated bag which is just exceptional service. Would highly recommend

Absolutely amazing delivery the grano in jar was very well packed in bubble wrap and the pasta also was packed in boxes… Fast delivery and great prices will definitely be ordering again….

Looks a good website However very short shelf life on flour delivered.
2 different brands and types of flour all bags only 7 months left on Best Before Date. Appalling, been buying pizza flour from many trade and retail sellers and this is the worst and would never use again. I bought this to the company attention and one of their comments was it’s still good after the use by date 😂😂😂

Delighted to have come across this business whilst searching for pizza making supplies, They have exactly that I was looking for and everything was packaged up extremely well and delivered the next day. They called me the day before to check up on everything. Great service and good prices.

Always a great experience ordering from you. Brilliant communication throughout and the quality of the food (in my case frozen dough balls), is superb.

The best experience with this Italian shop! The packaging was exceptionally well done—secure, neat, and clearly handled with care. Delivery was impressively fast, arriving much sooner than expected. On top of that, their prices are unbeatable—truly the best I’ve found in the UK for authentic Italian products. And I compared them with everyone else for the same products.

Listen to me, alright? I’m not the kinda guy who’s easily impressed, but when it comes to food, I know a thing or two. You want the real deal? You want a slice of Italy right in your kitchen? You gotta try A Di Maria & Son. They’re the best, capisce?

First off, let me tell you about the BIGA dough they use. I’ve had pizza all over the world, but the way this dough comes out? It’s like a work of art. You ever hear someone talk about dough with respect? You do now. The texture? Perfection. Soft, yet firm, with that perfect rise. You can smell the aroma from the minute you open the bag, and it takes you straight to the streets of Naples, no joke. It’s got this old-school, traditional feel that hits you like an old friend slapping you on the back. And when it bakes? Mamma mia! It’s got a crisp outside, but inside, it’s light, airy, and full of flavor. You don’t even need to put much on it, it’s just perfect as is.

Now, the delivery? Forget about it. These guys don’t mess around. I ordered, and I didn’t even have to wait long, everything showed up fresh, fast, and handled with care. They wrapped it like it was a million-dollar shipment. Friendly service, too. The guy at the door? He’s like family, treated me like one of his own LOL DPD.

Bottom line? You want pizza dough that’ll make you think you’re back in Italy? A Di Maria & Son is the spot. No question. This place is the real deal. If I could, I'd give it 10 stars, but for now, five’ll do. Get on it. You won’t regret it.
