Sadly, although we do love our home, I would strongly not recommend purchasing an Abbey home both due to build issues and the very poor aftercare we have received. There is a lot I could say about our experience but to keep it concise, this is our second new build home. We were well aware and prepared for snagging issues. However we have had a vast number of issues, many of which are simply due to very poor construction and build by the contractors and some of which really should not have passed building standards initially and should have been rectified before we purchased the property. Despite this Abbey continue to delay rectifying these issues leading to us having to spend a huge amount of time chasing them and waiting around for a myriad of contractors to come. Had their customer service been helpful and dealt with issues quickly and with more care we could have forgiven many of the problems that have arisen. Sadly that is not the case. Not to speak for others but we have heard many similar accounts, some even more serious than ours, from our neighbours suggesting this is not a one off but a systemic issue with Abbey’s construction and aftercare. I would suggest anyone considering buying an Abbey home to be conscious of the potential issues you may experience.

I bought my first home with Abbey New Homes and it has been such a wonderful and easy process. Teresa and the sales team have been so patient and kind in supporting me throughout the process and answering all my questions. Mick and the site team have been amazing in the home demo and helping me settle in and understand how everything works. Thank you to the entire team for making this a great first experience and continuing to support me. I am very happy with my decision to go with Abbey New Homes and I highly recommend them for anyone else buying their first home.

We never wanted a new build but as we were passing thought we would just be curious as we couldn’t find anything else we liked in the area. The minute we walked in we knew it was the one. From start to finish we had fantastic customer service from Sarah (the agent) and subsequently Ben (the site manager). We had a few minor snags but these were all dealt with quickly and efficiently with great communication. Our experience with Abbey was a very positive one. Thank you Ben and Sarah for making our move a seamless, positive experience at Chestnut Grove, Borden.

I had a great experience thanks to Martine and we were kept informed every step with the progress. Very happy overall.

We moved into our new home in July 2026 at Chestnut Grove and couldn't be happier.

Ben and the site team have been excellent with the snagging items we raised, dealing with them quickly and efficiently. In particular Ben has been great throughout, helping with other things and items that weren’t previously raised. Likewise he is always polite and professional, and always on hand to answer any questions we may have had.

Teresa who looks after sales on site at Royal Gardens has been amazing throughout our buying process she is a credit to the company.
She consistently kept us updated on the build and her excitement and enthusiasm for our purchase has been truly wonderful.
Mick site manager is also a little gem always on hand if we need to query how something works in the house or answer any ongoing questions we may have he has always made himself available to us from giving us his mobile number to call if we have any house queries this is I feel above and beyond.
All new homes have bits of snagging settlement cracks etc but we have had no problem at all in getting anything rectified.

Buying our first home was made easier with Teresa and Karen at Royal Gardens Wixams. Warmth in their service was unmatched and site staff took incredible care of any post move in minor snaghing issues promptly. Its been a pleasure to be a resident of Abbey homes credit to staff and quality of build and service.

We have recently moved into our new home. Throughout the buying process, Zoe and Natasha has been extremely approachable and supportive.
We have discovered a small leak in one of the bathrooms, Dave came to investigate immediately and when he couldn’t solve the issue, he raised this and a care call has been arranged.

We had a very positive experience buying our new home from Abbey Homes.

A special mention must go to Julia at Beresfords, who was instrumental in making the purchase happen. Her diligence, knowledge and professionalism were outstanding throughout the process. It’s rare to find an estate agent who genuinely puts the client’s interests first, taking the time to understand what is right for the buyer rather than simply pushing for a sale. This was especially valuable when dealing with an established developer on a development with high standards and strict processes.

At times, negotiations with the developer were challenging, but Julia was far more than just a go-between. She worked collaboratively with everyone involved to find a solution that suited all parties. That kind of outcome doesn’t happen without someone of Julia’s calibre leading the way.

Matthew also deserves special recognition. His attention to detail, commitment to quality and exceptionally high standards are evident in the homes Abbey builds. The after-sales service has been excellent and has given us real confidence in our purchase.

It was also a pleasure dealing with Steve, the Sales Director, who was professional, approachable and supportive throughout the process.

A sincere thank you to Julia at Beresfords and to Steve and Matthew at Abbey Homes for helping us move into our wonderful new home. We would happily recommend them to anyone considering buying an Abbey Homes property.

We were unsure as to purchasing from Abbey New Homes as they are not one of the largest players in the market. Barratt's and David Wilson have sites very close to the Abbey New Homes site, and although we did visit them both we felt more drawn to Abbey New Home's due to the site layout, construction of the homes and pricing.
From our first visit to the site, through to purchasing a home, we were provided with all the information we asked for, along with great communication and support from all parties.
Since moving in the after care received has been fantastic. Ben and Dave have been our main site contacts from initial point of interest to purchase, and have provided us with all the on-site/build information we needed to know about the property(ies).
And since moving in they have both been fantastic through the snagging faze, with nothing being too much trouble for them. Our (small) snagging list was dealt with promptly and to a high standard.
In fact all the build/construction team on-site have been very friendly, respectful and helpful.
Not forgetting that the sales team of Amy and Sarah were also fantastic, providing us with everything we need to know about the available properties, interior choices, dates and importantly purchase negotiations etc.,
We therefore would have no hesitation in recommending Abbey New Homes, in fact we are so happy that we took the decision to visit there site.

Royal Garden Wixams is a promising development with spacious homes and good value for money. The layout and size of the properties are a real positive, especially for families looking for more living space at a competitive cost.

Teresa and Karen from marketing team has also been very helpful throughout, with quick responses and regular follow-ups, which made the experience feel smooth and well managed.

As a small area for improvement, a bit more attention to the final construction finish and detail would make the homes even better. Some of the finishing touches could be more consistent to match the overall quality and appeal of the development.

I was taken around the properties by Shinel who was just fabulous. She knew everything about each property and made the viewing experience great. My wife and I were able to look and get a real feel for the location, the quality of each property, and the general neighbourhood.
Although we opted for something else the experience was first class.

I moved in to my new home in March 2026 at Chestnut Grove and couldn’t be more pleased. Ben and David have gone beyond my expectations, not only dealing with a few snagging items, but also helping with other things that they didn’t need to. They are polite and professional at all times and happy to answer any questions I may have had.

It was a pleasure visiting the Kings Green development on a few occasions. Shinel was quite professional and helpful with useful information.

Great service and a straight forward process to buying a new home at Wellington Gardens, Deal.
Martine in the sales office was our first touch point and has been at hand through the whole process we cannot fault her professional service and help.
Simon the site manager has been very helpful going through the new home to ensure we had all the information we needed and everything was working properly. Our overall experience with Abbey Homes has been amazing, making it a very stress free experience.

We’ve had an issues since moving into our new home, but David the site manager, and the trade team have been prompt, efficient, and very helpful. David has taken control of the situation, ensured our concerns are taken seriously, and working with the tradesmen to get everything resolved. We really appreciate their support, communication, and willingness to help. Thank you!

We moved into The Waring at Richmond Park in December 25. First time buying a new build and the quailty of the finish is excellent. Very smooth purchase. We absolutely love our new home. Everyone has been very helpful and friendly, From the agents in the show home office to the site managers they just couldn’t help enough and even after completion they have been available if we have had any questions and fix any snags (which were only a few).

Chestnut Grove Abbey Homes
Our house was delayed significantly due to change of building schedule, we were made aware of this however and decided to continue with the purchase.
We found the inflexibility with just a gas hob rather than our preference annoying, therefore on completion we had to immediately instal an electric induction hob. However the quality of other fittings namely Taps and shower were of good quality.
On a positive note we do commend the site management team of Ben and David for their customer service, general care and information combined with prompt action regarding a surprisingly small snagging list, smoothed our first couple of weeks
Considering we are living on a building site it is very clean and safety seems a high priority.
We love the house and so far living up to expectations. We are now in the hands of head office customer service and will probably review any further issues arising.

Fantastic wealth of knowledge, always on hand to help and polite and professional staff, from the sales team to the team responsible for after sales care. Fantastic company, highly recommended.
