US Gold Buyers -- do your homework
US Gold Buyers advertise high payouts -- 95-98.5% of melt. However, when they received my scrap gold, they only offered me around 50% of melt.
I know that because I accurately weighed my items and calculated spot using an online calculator.
I said, "That dollar figure doesn't sound right. What percent of melt is that?" The lady said, "85%". I knew that was not true. I had them return my gold to me.
They also advertise free shipping both ways. But they said my gold "didn't qualify" for free shipping.
P.S. This is in response to their reply below. I weighed the 14k gold ring at home to the nearest gram, and it said 3 grams. I took it to a local jeweler and he said it weighed 3.1 grams. Their response says it weighed "1.3 DWT", which equates to 2.02g. So in their calculations, they shorted me 1.08 g, which equates to approx. $84 in additional value. Weigh your gold and take a picture of it on the scale before sending it to them!

The client's statements are inaccurate and do not reflect the actual weight or value of the material we received. Below is a transparent breakdown of our calculations based on the contents of the shipment:
10K Gold:
0.5 DWT × 41% purity × 85% payout ÷ 20 = 0.008 OZT of recoverable gold
14K Gold:
1.3 DWT × 57% purity × 85% payout ÷ 20 = 0.031 OZT of recoverable gold
Total Recoverable Gold:
0.008 OZT + 0.031 OZT = 0.039 OZT
Using the market price of $4,190 per troy ounce on the day we received the package:
0.039 OZT × $4,190 = $163.41
The client expected approximately $325, which is significantly higher than what the weight and purity of the material support.
Additionally, the client's claim that we pay 95%–98.5% of melt value is incorrect. Our payout structure is clearly disclosed and is based on the total amount of recoverable precious metal submitted:
0–3 OZT: 85% of melt value
3–5 OZT: 90% of melt value
Over 5 OZT: 96% of melt value
98.5% of melt value is reserved exclusively for licensed precious metal dealers selling 25 or more troy ounces.
The client also did not qualify for our complimentary shipping program. Due to the high cost of FedEx shipping, we require a minimum amount of gold to qualify for a prepaid shipping label. Based on the estimated weight of the client's material, it did not meet that minimum threshold. As a result, we advised the client to ship the package at their own expense if they wished to proceed with the transaction.
Our offer was calculated exactly as outlined above and in accordance with our published payout schedule. The calculations are objective, based solely on the weight, purity, and the market price on the day the package was received.

Very rude. Beware, they won’t give you the same price they quote. They quoted me $2476 for 28 grams of varying gold quality. When they received my gold, they called me and verified that they rated the gold the same as I sent it. Gold was down from $4460 to $4390 from the quote, but the price they offered me was only $2172. When I asked why, they said the price dipped on Friday, May 12, 2026 below $4100. They gave me 12.2% less even though the price had only dropped 1.6%.
The problem is gold never went below $4200.
The girl was reading from a script. She asked if O would like to speak to a manager and I said yes.
He was very rude. He said, “if you’re not happy with the price, we’ll send it back to you”. I explained the price difference was huge and he said that’s because the price went down.
Trust me, don’t do business with them.
They will quote you a high price to get you to send it in and then lower the price, knowing 90% will accept their lower price. They have a whole speech and reasons ready to go. The manager sounded like some penny stock sales guy from Long Island.

To clarify, if you search the intraday spot price of gold for June 12, 2026, you will see that gold reached a low of approximately $4,022 per ounce. This information is available from a variety of market data sources, including ChatGPT, Kitco, and other precious metals pricing services.
Unfortunately, we do not lock in pricing based on an initial phone inquiry. When you first contacted us approximately three weeks earlier, gold was trading around the $4,400 per ounce level. As is standard practice, offers are based on the current market price at the time the items are received and evaluated.
When your items arrived on June 12, you were offered a price that reflected the market conditions on that date. Because we did not hear back from you until June 15, we were able to revise the offer based on the higher spot price that day, approximately $4,352.50 per ounce. You accepted that revised offer, and payment was sent via Zelle within minutes.
We are sorry to hear that you felt our staff was rude. Providing respectful, professional service is important to us, and we will review the call recordings and transcripts internally.

My husband passed away and I had many items to sell. Tatiana took her time explaining the process. I sent my items through fed ex (which they paid for) and Tatiana called me that afternoon and made a much higher offer than I received close to my home. She then sent an e-check and I deposited like a regular check. This was all so simple. I highly recommend.
