Our recent two-week family holiday to Sri Lanka was nothing short of extraordinary, and we truly owe that to Unbound Travel Group.
Travelling as a multi-generational family, with sixteen of us ranging in age from 3 to 71, we wanted something special but weren’t quite sure how to bring it all together. Having previously travelled as a couple through India with Unbound, we felt confident putting our trust in them again—and they absolutely delivered.
From the very beginning, the entire experience was seamless. Communication was consistently excellent—prompt, clear, and supportive at every stage, from the initial planning through to the final days of our trip. Every detail was thoughtfully managed, including advice on travel to Sri Lanka and all arrangements within Sri Lanka, which made the whole journey feel effortless.
They worked closely with us to explore a range of options that suited our budget and vision, ultimately helping us choose stunning private villas that allowed us to stay together as a family. These properties were perfect—beautiful open spaces, private pools, and exceptional staff who made our stay even more relaxing and enjoyable.
Our itinerary struck the perfect balance between relaxation and adventure. We began near the beach in Weligama in a gorgeous villa, then spent a couple of unforgettable nights near Yala National Park, where we experienced an incredible safari, complete with naturalists (guides) who shared so much information about the area and the wildlife we saw, including a sighting of the elusive leopard. We finished in another spectacular beachfront villa in Ahangama, which was simply breathtaking. The surfers in our group only needed to walk across the lawn to the beach to surf the ocean break.
Some of us stayed on for an extra week and travelled inland to the cultural sites. Unbound found us the perfect guide for this leg of the trip- very knowledgeable as well as fun to travel with, taking us not only to the main tourist sites, but also the out of the way places that only locals know about.
What stood out most was how well the trip catered to every member of our group. It’s no small task to create a holiday that genuinely works for such a wide range of ages, but Unbound managed it effortlessly.

Communication and attention to detail between Sri Lanka and Unbound were not up to standard. I repeatedly had to chase Unbound, and when we arrived in Sri Lanka they were unaware of time changes. Unbound was not aware of what was included at the hotels, which was frustrating and resulted in unnecessary tours being booked and later cancelled because the hotels already offered them.

Our Bawa and Beyond tour was a delight. The accommodation, food, and our driver / guide were all, top quality. The itinerary was a very well balanced mix of art, culture, wildlife and beachside relaxation. Our stays at Bawa's The Last House and Lunuganga were highlights (even for this non-architect). Between our driver and the team at Unbound everything ran so smoothly we just had to sit back and drink it all in!

The support with transfers and the booking of all train trips and accommodation made our lives easy. Our guides had put considerable effort in planning our tours (Osaka & Kyoto) and then Tokyo to suit our interests with a focus on cultural sights and activities and some arts and crafts experiences. The inclusion of weaving and fabric printing with artisans were a highlight and an opportunity to engage with cultural skills and the experts who were gracious. Our guides were lovely, and happy to adjust the activities on the fly. Our experience was like travelling with a friend. Navigating without them would have been challenging. We were able to maximise the outcomes of our trip by packing more into each day. Would highly recommend this company.

In incredibly organised tour company! They made contact before we left home and touched base at each part of our trip. We always knew who to contact if there was a problem which was comforting ( never had to contact anyone). The guides were all superb and the drivers excellent, we felt safe at all times!! We decided to make some changes to our itinerary on the way and this was always accommodated. I highly recommend using Unbound India - thanks everyone for a trip of a lifetime!

As first time visitors we wanted a tour to suit our interests. We wanted to see all the usual sites in the "Golden Triangle". But we wanted to do it our pace and to get an understanding of the culture as well.

India Unbound delivered exactly to our requirements. From Mumbai, to Udaipur, Deogarh, Jaipur, Agra, Delhi, Varanassi and Kolkata, we were looked after every step of the way. Our local guides were knowledgeable and friendly and our drivers competent and skilful.

We had an amazing trip and would recommend India Unbound without hesitation.

Everything was perfect down to the smallest detail! We felt like royalty the whole time! Cars were clean, cool and comfortable. Water and snacks were supplied. Guides met us promptly wherever we were being met and our drivers were excellent . Accommodation was second to none and all activities were a new experience in themselves. We couldn’t fault anything in our trip from beginning to end. I would highly recommend this company and will definitely travel with them again!!

My family of four spent three weeks travelling in India. The itinerary was well organised. Moreover, the sights and experiences selected were truly outstanding. This included spotting tigers and leopards in the wild.

The accommodation was excellent and varied, from boutique hotels to a renovated fort.

We are a family of 10 - three generations who live in various places around the world. We decided to spend 2 weeks in Kerala for the Christmas and New Year holidays. Wow it did not disappoint.

Six times we have travelled with unbound. Each time it has been a pleasure and the most enjoyable experience. Everything works, accommodation , tours , plane and train connections, good knowledgeable local guides and amazing ,caring and careful drivers.
we are well travelled 70 year-olds who wanted to go to India for the first time in 2022 and after doing our research, we found Unbound Travel the most helpful and best value agency. They help create most memorable trip from staying in seven star Palace hotels to local Havalis, all the time providing great input as to maximise our time. The trip was so great we rebooked to return again in one month have been back at least once a year. Each trip has covered a different area of India and each time has been well organised with wi-Fi in the car and an individual WhatsApp group that kept in contact with us to make sure everything ran smoothly, and it always did.
So happy with the service at Unbound Travel when we learnt that they had started private Asian tours we had no hesitation in having them organise a trip to Taiwan. We have just returned and the same level of care that we’ve experienced in India was evident in Taiwan.

I couldn't be more impressed with the expertise that Lincoln and Unbound Travel provided for my mum and me. This was our first time travelling by ourselves in India and we wanted a unique and personalised trip of a lifetime. We found our tour to be absolutely first rate and highly unusual. We provided our interests (which were fairly varied: history, architecture, food, and textiles), and what we got was brilliant, not remotely “touristy”. It’s hard to know where to begin. In effect, a PhD on the evolution of temple architecture. Remote village life. An insect (sic) safari at night: fascinating. Elephants in the wild. Silk farming in the countryside (and an introduction to the village children in their pre-school). Cooking with a Brahmin family. A decadent stay on a coffee plantation. Being invited into a private fighting club in Bangalore. Alone in the Pre-Mughal tombs in Hyderabad. Yoga at Calicut. An experience of a lifetime, smoothly organised, with good guides, and a brilliant driver. It is a pleasure to offer this review. Couldn’t be happier.

In January 2025 India Unbound organized a three week tour of southern India, our second trip with the company. Planning was efficient and responsive, matching our specific interests. On the ground, the organization was excellent. Guides were good, accommodation generally good too, on a few occasions really memorable. Excellent!

We travelled throughout India for nearly a month with India Unbound. The trip was amazing and fully met our expectations. I traveled to India with Unbound in November to December 2024, and am currently considering a trip to Sri Lanka with their sister company, Unbound Sri Lanka.

I cannot speak highly enough about my experience, from the extremely patient, detailed planning over several months with Lincoln and Kanwal, to the final experience in India. We felt very well cared for the whole time. Everything they said they would do, they did and more. Representatives met us at each destination, and were always informative and helpful. All the experiences suggested to us that we took up were great, and the inclusion of a WhatsApp group set up by Unbound meant that their assistance was readily available if we needed it.This level of personal care was never intrusive, just very supportive.
Unbound will work with you to achieve what you want from your trip; for example, we chose to travel more and stay in 3-4 star accommodation in order to stay within our budget. But we stayed in some truly wonderful places. We would not have experienced some of the more off the tourist trail places we did had we travelled with another company- a wonderful farm stay in Kalimpong, eco resorts in Munnar and Lake Vembinad, beautiful former royal residences.
India is a wonderful destination, and as someone who had been there before decades ago, I appreciated the depth of knowledge that Unbound brought to the planning - everywhere evolves, and this trip opened my eyes to how much different a country it is now.

I absolutely recommend (and have to personal friends) that anyone thinking of a trip to India go with Unbound. We loved our trip with them, and appreciated their ethical approach to the country and its people as well as to us as clients, They’re the real deal. I wish they worked in every country I want to visit! Could not be happier with the service they provided.

This was our 3rd trip with the Unbound Travel Group. The previous 2 trips were to India, this trip was to Vietnam.
Curated travel is a dream come true for older people like us who are reasonably active and well travelled.
I enjoyed the input we had into arranging this holiday, without the drawbacks of having to organise every aspect for myself.
Our trip to Vietnam didn't pigeon hole us. We enjoyed walking, cycling and exposure to the culture and food in a supported environment suitable for reasonably active people in their mid 70's.
It was a nice mix of learning from guides, and doing our own things.
The itinerary was "en pointe" because it was discussed, and suggestions were made before finalising.
Hotels were very comfortable and well appointed.

My partner and I have travelled twice with the Unbound team and will do so again. Our trips have been tailored around our specific interests with a great mix of accommodation and friendly staff and guides on the ground at each destination who have made connections seamless and have been on hand to offer real support. In the planning stages, they have been very patient with our requests and itinerary tweaks. We are currently scoping another trip with them. Their suggestions for visiting places we had never heard of before have ended up being absolute highlights of our holidays. Their ethos is around thoughtful, ethical, enriching travel and that’s what we experienced. We’d highly recommend them.
