This keeps happening there checks don’t say the vehicles been in an accident until it’s to late. Sometimes doesn’t even show pictures of the damage areas. Very frustrating and to top it all off I emailed them about one of my checks that said passed on 24th march and failed on the 6th of April and told them they cost me thousands and been threatened with a law suit. They replied maybe go see citizens advice never apologised no refund they give me 2 vouchers for 2 vehicle checks they aren’t as good as mycarcheck yes it’s a bit more expensive but at least they are never wrong! Disappointed wouldn’t be in it total car check it’s more like . Total disappointment check

A bit rubbish when I tried to get upgrade to gold the software would not let me through the robot check. Upon raising the problem they advised fixed but it just blocked me again as though robot. Annoying as needed the report for a car purchase the next day.gave up in the end and tried another provider. Would not necessarily trust this.

80% of what was in the report was available free from Gov.UK. I expected the report to give more information and, as I had looked online, I Immediately realised that his report was inaccurate in many areas.
The vehicle type was stated to be a car when it was a Motorhome or, as stated on the V5, a Motor Caravan.
It stated that the vehicle had not been imported but it was, in fact, a German vehicle, imported into the UK in 2004.
I stated that there had been no registration number plate changes but in fact there had been 2, one when imported and another when the vehicle was resold and the seller retained their cherished number.
Pehaps worst of all was that the report highlighted 'Warning', 'This vehicle has mileage Issues' in bold red letters. It went on to say that the mileage had been reduced on 4 occasions, totalling a 200,000 miles reduction. There were no mileage reductions but, because the vehicle was a German import, the odometer was in kilometers and the report had on 4 occasions taken the odometer reading, likely from the free online MOT history, as miles, resulting in the anomaly.
I could go on but, in essence, the inaccuracies in the report would make many potential buyers walk away from the purchase.
I couldn't easily see contact details to complain to Total Car Check but if I was the seller I would definitely pursue them.

Have used previously and great value for money

Total Car Check is very cheap for the level of detail you receive in a report. They even helped see photos of a accident damaged car that had not been highlighted by the seller. The report instantly available which makes it so quick and easy to use. I use for all car purchase checks including family members. Thank you

Bought and paid for a silver check , despite it showing on my paypal account they say they never received payment , they wanted me to do screenshots etc to prove payment ,but after reading other 1 star reviews on here its not the 1st they have done this . its happened to others , and no doubt wont be the last for these charlatans , do as i did and use a better more honest company ,they are cheap for a reason and must do this in the hope people will say ah its not worth chasing up for the small amount , AVOID

It's total scam check I pay them 9.99£ and did not recive any thing

This is a shitty and fake website; they scammed me for £60 when I entered my card details in it. They stole my £60 from my bank account. Please do not trust this website; this is a fake website, and their reports are also not detailed.

They took my money £9.99 and didnt send the report. Emailed them twice, no response. Total scam

The wording is hard to make out so I wouldn’t recommend and it very confusing! Logbook says 2 owners and it’s got 4 on this pdf given

I strongly urge anyone considering Total Car Check to think twice before giving them a penny.

I used their service to check a van in July 2023, months after the vehicle had been written off in a Category S accident (February 2023). Their report came back completely clean – no write-off, no issues. Based on this so-called “comprehensive” check, I went ahead and purchased the vehicle. Later, I discovered that it was in fact written off, with the claim eventually appearing on MIAFTR in August 2023 – a full five months after the actual accident, and after I’d already bought the vehicle relying on their report.

Their response? A shrug and some nonsense about how it’s the seller’s fault for not disclosing it, and how they “can’t control how long insurance companies take.” That might be true – but what is under their control is how they represent their service. If your reports are not reliable and depend entirely on third parties uploading data on time, then that should be loud and clear before customers pay. Instead, they market their checks as robust and trustworthy, when clearly, they are anything but.

This is now the third time I’ve had issues with Total Car Check missing critical data. Every time, they fob me off with excuses, take no responsibility, and offer zero compensation. What exactly am I paying for? A screenshot of whatever might be available at the time?

The worst part? They hide behind disclaimers and "data guarantees" that mean absolutely nothing in practice. It's just smoke and mirrors. They take your money, and when their service fails, you’re left to deal with the consequences.

Total Car Check is not fit for purpose. If you want peace of mind before buying a car, go elsewhere. Don't be fooled by their slick interface and promises. You’re better off throwing your money out the window — at least then you won’t be misled.
