I purchased a Roborock S8 ultra max from this company. It was a grey import not designed for sale in Australia and worked for a few weeks before failing. It is not under warranty as it is not sold by an approved reseller. The company have been utterly useless. They took the unit back and ‘fixed it’ but returned it sopping wet in the box and completely broken. It is a scam. Do not purchase from this company.
⭐ 1-Star Review
Avoid Tech Tack and Ecovacs – a year of failed repairs and no accountability.
I purchased an Ecovacs Omni X2 from Tech Tack and it's been an exhausting and expensive ordeal.
The unit stopped working within 6 months. Ecovacs initially attempted to repair it three times, but after repeated failures, they refused to help further, claiming that Tech Tack was not an authorised distributor — despite advertising a 2-year manufacturer warranty.
With nowhere else to turn, I then went back to Tech Tack for support. I sent the robot to them for a fourth repair attempt. They claimed it was fixed — but it was returned in exactly the same faulty condition.
Now, one year later, after four failed repair attempts between the manufacturer and retailer, I still do not have a working robot. Both parties have refused to take responsibility, and I’ve been left with a non-functional $2,000 product and no resolution.
🚫 Avoid purchasing from Tech Tack at all costs. You may not be protected under warranty, and their repair service has proven unreliable.
🚫 And beware of Ecovacs too — their refusal to honour a warranty based on who you bought it from is disgraceful and not in line with Australian Consumer Law.
Australia Post lost a phone that was sent to me. On my enquiry of where the item was, Tech Track informed me that it was lost in transit, and immediately processed a full refund (through Kogan). Which aligns with the tracking information I saw from Aus Post so it was truthful. That is very impressive. I expected there to be problems.
This business sells products not intended for the Australian markets (i.e. sells the non Australian model of a product). These products therefore don't come with a manufacturer warranty, and TechTack.com.au cannot provide an acceptable warranty service (they just tinker with it in there warehouse). They will not refund you. You'll need to take them to court.
I purchased a projector as a Christmas gift for my partner, getting it early since we were heading away for the holidays. Unfortunately, upon opening the gift, we found the projector in terrible condition—scratched, with black marks, and a failing case.
I immediately initiated a return through D**k Smith, who then passed the issue along to Tech Tack. However, Tech Tack refused to replace the damaged product, claiming it was outside their return timeframe.
It is absolutely disgraceful for a company to repackage and resell faulty products to unsuspecting customers in a way that benefits them financially, while leaving the customer with a defective item.
For anyone considering purchasing from either Tech Tack or D**k Smith, I urge you to think twice. The time and energy spent trying to resolve this issue have been frustrating, expensive, and disheartening. My experience has been nothing short of horrendous.
These companies should be investigated and held accountable for their practices
UPDATE: D. Smith failed to resolve this issue.
This company needs to be dissolved, or there should be a class action taken against them. The sheer volume of negative reviews and unsatisfied customers speaks for itself. It's clear they are not prioritising quality or customer service in any way.
The biggest issue is their third-party suppliers who are allowed to sell second-hand and damaged goods, all while offloading return stock to unsuspecting customers. It's dishonest and irresponsible to let these suppliers profit from unsuspecting customers without proper inspection.
There’s no excuse for the level of negligence shown here. Avoid at all costs.
UPDATE:
After months of the product sitting unused in the box, I finally decided to open it again—half tempted to buy a second one just to return the faulty one - An F U for the time, energy wasted supporting this company. As I inserted the batteries into the controller, I noticed it already had two mismatched batteries inside. This clearly indicates the company is recycling used, returned items and passing them off as new.
It’s disgraceful. I genuinely hope both D**k Smith and Tech Tack are among the next companies to go into administration, given their shady policies and unethical practices.
