Extremely Dissapointed: Takealot Refuses to return faulty Samsung Product
I bought the Samsung Freestyle Smart Portable Projector 2nd Gen on 16 February 2026 for R6,999 expecting a premium portable streaming device. Unfortunately, it has been a major letdown from day one.
The projector constantly buffers and fails to load YouTube videos or stream movies smoothly. AirPlay casting from my Apple devices repeatedly cuts off and struggles to connect reliably. These issues make it impossible to use for its main purpose – watching content wirelessly. Even after basic troubleshooting (restarts, firmware checks, 5GHz WiFi, etc.), the problems persist. For this price, it simply does not deliver the smooth, reliable smart projector experience Samsung advertises.
When I tried to return it through Takealot (still well within the 6-month window), they refused to log the return. They insist it’s a “manufacturer warranty” item and that I must contact Samsung directly for a technician visit, repair, or possible replacement/refund. Their customer service repeated that they “are unable to assist further” despite the item clearly not being fit for purpose.
As a South African consumer, I expected Takealot – one of the country’s biggest retailers – to stand behind the products they sell under the Consumer Protection Act (Sections 55 & 56). Instead, they are pushing the entire responsibility onto Samsung and leaving the customer to chase repairs. This has left me extremely frustrated and out of pocket for a high-end product that doesn’t work as it should.
Warning to other customers: If you buy this projector (or any “manufacturer warranty” big-ticket item) from Takealot and it turns out defective, expect no support or return option from Takealot. You will be forced to deal directly with Samsung while being stuck with a faulty, expensive product. Think very carefully before purchasing — this has been an extremely frustrating and costly waste of time and money.

I did a product replacement a month ago and the last update was 21/03 saying it's being evaluated how long could it possibly take , the product is under warranty and stopped working after a year a disgrace, I said I want the product replaced but you take your own time to do so and you provide no updates , I want my product replaced

Worst customer care in South Africa
I wish there was an option to give no stars, but 1 being the lowest it will have to do. I ordered (and paid for) a freezer hinge I needed ASAP on the 23rd of March. Also paid for courier fees. Then realized that this parcel with the item being in stock will only be delivered to me by the 10th of April. Nearly 3 weeks later. Within a day or 2 when realizing this I called and emailed to cancel and get a refund. The excuse was they are busy picking and packing and the order can only be canceled once they have done that. Fast fwd 8 days on. Still nothing. I could have gotten that hinge at a fraction of the price from other retailers (even China) and have it installed and working by now. I hope temu and Amazon eats you alive takealot. You did not even try to help me. I will NEVER order from you again

Takealot drivers steal our packages!!!!
I ordered on Takealot and my parcel was supposed to be delivered in the 26th of March 2026.
My parcel was then delivered to someone else and not myself. Takealot has been taking me from pillar to post. They said they would send the driver to fetch my things from that address and I’ve struggled to get a clear understanding when that will be happening.
I have not been receiving assistance from any of the people on the call centre to resolve this matter. My package may have been stolen by the driver.

I placed an order with Takelot, but the delivery took far too long. I urgently needed the components, so I requested a full refund. Instead of refunding me, they credited my account, which is useless since I need the money back to buy the items elsewhere.
I contacted them multiple times asking for the refund, but I have received no feedback from their financial team. Meanwhile, the components I ordered cannot be reordered because prices increase overnight and some items are out of stock.
This has left me completely stuck—Takelot is not doing their part, and I cannot get the components I urgently need. The lack of communication to process a proper refund is unacceptable.
I am extremely disappointed with the Disappointing and Contaminated Liquid Chlorophyll – Poor Quality and Unfair Seller Policies
I am extremely disappointed with the liquid chlorophyll I purchased. From the very first use, it has been nothing but a frustrating experience. The product I received has a foul smell that is completely off-putting, making it impossible to enjoy or even use comfortably. Despite what the product claims, it does not turn water green, which is one of the main reasons I bought it in the first place. The water remains clear, and there is no visual indication of any chlorophyll effect.
To make matters worse, the particles in the liquid are poorly suspended. I noticed tiny flying or running particles moving up and down within the liquid, which suggests poor quality and contamination. This is unacceptable for a product that is supposed to be natural and safe to consume.
I am utterly dissatisfied and feel cheated. It’s extremely unfair that Takealot's policy does not consider faults originating from the manufacturer, especially when the product itself is defective upon arrival. I would strongly advise anyone against purchasing this product, particularly from Takealot, as their customer service and return policies are unhelpful in cases like this.
Overall, I regret this purchase immensely and will not be recommending this product or seller to anyone. Quality control is clearly lacking, and customers should not have to deal with such substandard products.

i order a item and took the next day delivery option, they charged me extra for the option but the next day on my account the parcel was not out for delivery. i contacted takealot and they insured me my parcel will still be delivered the same day. at 15h30 i got a message that my parcel will only be delived 3 days later. i phoned them again and they said the option for next day delivery is only valid if you order before 10am the previous day but when you place the order they dont tell you this, they still give you the option and charge you. this is unacepteble. i don't care about the refund, i needed the parcel the next day and now they just say sorry.

Takealot is behaving unethically by protecting sellers of fake products.
I recently purchased a set of 3 Philips OneBlade replacement heads on Takealot. The product was clearly advertised as genuine Philips OneBlade heads and priced close to the original retail cost.
Upon delivery, it was immediately obvious that the items are fake. They arrived in a completely unmarked clear plastic tub with zero Philips branding or packaging. The only text anywhere is “Replacement Heads” printed on the back of each individual head.
I left an honest review stating that the product is clearly not original. Takealot rejected my review. Their rejection reasons were:
They suggested I rather do a return as “Not what I ordered” instead of leaving a review.
They claimed they are “investigating the authenticity” and would be in touch. This does not protect future buyers and cloakes the fact that the seller is selling faked products.
This is highly unethical. It is clear that when customers report fake or counterfeit items, Takealot deliberately suppresses the reviews to protect their own reputation and the seller, rather than warning other buyers.
By rejecting authentic feedback about counterfeit products being sold at near-original prices, Takealot is actively misleading potential customers and refusing to take responsibility for the fakes being sold on their platform.
This is exactly why so many people I know have stopped shopping on Takealot and moved to Amazon and other platforms.
Takealot must do better. Customers deserve transparency, not suppression of negative reviews when counterfeit goods are involved.

I am very disappointed at takealot for what they just did to me bought a stove and when it was delivered it had a missing part I used it as I needed to cook however decided to return it so they can add the missing part and return it they declined it okay when they sent it back it was damaged and in a condition that just made me cry

If there was a minus star i was going to give it, they keep rescheduling dilivery of my order because their drivers preted like they coming then call once and turn back and you must wait decades, even now i havent received my order they took my money and failing to deliver. The driver was extremely rude too on the phone.

Bad return policy
When I moved from Europe to South Africa a few years ago I really missed Amazon to simply order all the things you can't buy in town and I was pleased to discover Takealot as a local substitute. But now that Amazon is available in SA I must say that their service is much better, especially when it comes to returns. If an item is defective Amazon picks it up and replaces it or gives a refund. With Takealot I recently had to log two returns of items still under warranty that became defective under normal operating conditions. Takealot rejected both returns because of "[item is user damage]", whatever that means. It seems that they are protecting sellers of poor quality products instead of the clients, like Amazon does. That's very dissapointing. For future orders I'll prefer Amazon whenever possible.
