Hello Ray, we’re sorry the email caused concern. Swiftaid does not create an authorisation unless the donor chooses to add Gift Aid and accepts the authorisation wording.

The Gift Aid wording used within the donation journeys of the charities and platforms we work with names Swiftaid, explains what the authorisation covers and provides links to our Terms and Privacy Policy. We then send a welcome email confirming the authorisation and explaining how it can be managed or cancelled. We work hard to explain the authorisation clearly and transparently, while keeping the donation process straightforward for donors.

Swiftaid is ISO-certified and listed on GOV.UK as a commercial software supplier for HMRC Charities Online. You can manage or cancel your authorisation through your Swiftaid account, or email info@swiftaid.co.uk and we will be happy to help directly. We hope this clarifies the process.

Hello, we’ve only recently become aware of your review, so apologies for the delayed response. We understand why you were cautious about an email from an organisation you did not immediately recognise.

The email was not unsolicited marketing. It was a service notification confirming a Gift Aid authorisation and explaining how it could be managed or cancelled. Before the authorisation is made, Swiftaid is named in the Gift Aid wording, which explains what we do and links to our Terms and Privacy Policy.
We work hard to explain the authorisation clearly and transparently, while keeping the donation process straightforward for donors.

As you mention, JustGiving works with Swiftaid. Swiftaid is ISO-accredited and is also listed on GOV.UK as a commercial software supplier for HMRC Charities Online. You can visit our website directly rather than following an email link, or email info@swiftaid.co.uk if you would like us to verify the notification or help cancel the authorisation. Swiftaid is not HMRC and does not claim to be. Charities are responsible for claiming Gift Aid, and Swiftaid provides software that helps charities and authorised organisations prepare and submit those claims to HMRC. Swiftaid is listed on GOV.UK as a commercial software supplier for HMRC Charities Online.

The email was a service notification sent following a Swiftaid Gift Aid authorisation. You do not need to follow the links in the email. You can visit swiftaid.co.uk directly or email info@swiftaid.co.uk to verify the message, access your information or manage the authorisation. Hope this helps clarify things for you.

Hello Jean, thank you for raising your concerns. We’ve only recently become aware of your review, so apologies for the delayed response. We would like to clarify how the authorisation and our fees work.

Swiftaid does not add Gift Aid without a donor authorisation. The authorisation explains that it may cover eligible donations made during the tax year, including donations that were not individually Gift Aided. Where this applies, we notify the donor and provide a 21-day window in which to decline before Gift Aid is added.

Swiftaid never takes money from the donation itself. Many charities use our Gift Aid processing services free of charge. Where a charity chooses to use our Gift Aid Finder service, the charity pays a finder’s fee of up to 10% of the additional Gift Aid recovered that would otherwise have been missed. The charity agrees to both the service and the fee in advance, and the donor’s original donation remains completely untouched. Like any company, we charge for some services so that we can cover the cost of continuing to support thousands of charities and millions of donors.

We cannot discuss your individual donation history publicly, but we would be happy to confirm the authorisation that applied, what information was received and whether any Gift Aid was claimed. Please email info@swiftaid.co.uk and we will review this with you directly.
