The classes are fast paced and easy to work with. Teachers are also helpful when it comes to feedback.

The classes are self-paced so that you can learn when you have the opportunity and can take the time that you need to master the material. Tutoring is available if you need it. I have really enjoyed the Straightline experience so far and am learning a lot from my course.

Working at my own pace is everything that made it very good plus not having to buy the textbook separately

I would not recommend StraighterLine to anyone, especially for a subject as complex as Organic Chemistry. I enrolled in what was advertised as a course, only to find there is no actual TEACHING or instruction provided. The few “lessons” consist of reading a textbook and taking quizzes, with a few robot-voice video clips that are seconds long — hardly what most students would consider a real class. When I reached out, they informed me NO ONE TEACHES CLASSES AND IT IS UP TO YOU TO LEARN! WTAF?!

Nowhere in the enrollment process did it clearly state that there would be no teacher. Had I known this upfront, I would never have spent my money here. For a company to market this as a legitimate course is misleading at best, if not illegal. When I asked for a refund TWO DAY LATER, they said there is no refunds. I wonder why.

Students deserve to know what they are paying for. If you are looking to actually learn a subject, I recommend you take your time and money elsewhere. DO NOT USE THIS PLACE!

I appreciate the flexibility of the self-paced courses, which allowed me to work at my own pace. However, the course material for the intro to statistics class was vague and sometimes confusing. The AI videos that accompany the modules were a bit creepy and not helpful with reviewing/summarizing the module material. The videos also played incredibly fast without a method of slowing down the pace to process the information (other than pausing every few seconds). Each module also had an overwhelming amount of information with examples that sometimes did not make sense, and other than making an appointment with a tutor, there was no one to contact about it. Last but not least, the university I was accepted into was not willing to accept the credits from Straightline because Straightline is not accredited, even though Straightline advertises my school as a school that accepts their courses.

I am halfway through my first course and I am pleasantly surprised by how organized the site is. I am easily able to navigate through the coursework without confusion. I submitted my first graded assignment and was very pleased to have the grade and feedback back within the same day.

Signed up for biochemistry course and as soon as I logged in I discovered that the "course" did not include any video lectures and multimedia content just basically you are buying an online textbook. As soon as I realized that StraigherLine totally misrepresented what I was buying I immediately wanted to cancel and close my account. I lost $178 and never got a refund even though I went back and forth with support many times. When I log in there is no way to remove my credit card or close my account. A year later they charged me again with an authorized charge on my credit card. The site is basically a scam. Once you sign up you cannot close your account or remove your credit card. You are just getting an online textbook for $178 and expected to learn biochemistry without any lectures or multimedia content. It is a total scam. As soon as you pay, it is non refundable (when you discover this was a total scam).

Ample quiz/testing time is very helpful.
Multiple opportunities to take quizzes and tests reduces stress.
The consistent end of chapter reviews/benchmarks are reinforcing.
The embedded videos are great!

Ease of use. The option to do it at your own pace was good for me.

The online course structure allows me the freedom to choose the attention i can give to the classwork on any given day. As a fulltime employee, the scheduling and the freedom to deviate from the scheduling is what I needed.

I cannot discourage using Straighterline enough. I am enrolled in the biochemistry course (no lab). There is no supporting lecture/video material; unless you are a learner who strictly retains information from reading a textbook, this platform is not for you. The built in "lessons" are just more text to read and don't hone in on any details of the course information. The lessons lack explanation, contain many errors and are poorly outlined.

I was also charged for the course 3 days before I was granted access and my membership dates were not adjusted. I have not received prompt responses - sometimes no response at all - to my inquiries. I am entirely disappointed and dissatisfed with my experience but will continue to move through the course because I already financially invested into it. If I had greater financial means, I would discontinue the course and find a different platform/institution.
