Composite bonding experience
I am leaving this review so anyone considering cosmetic dental treatment at Smile Hub can make an informed decision based on my experience.
My treating dentist was Dr Laura Fee. I attended for advice about closing the gap between my front teeth and improving my smile. I was advised that composite bonding could achieve the result and that fewer than 16 teeth would not provide the desired aesthetic result or colour match. I paid €5,600 upfront (€350 per tooth).
I chose an Irish provider because I wanted continuity of care and aftercare.
Treatment was spread across multiple appointments: 2 teeth at the first, 4 at the next, 2 more upper teeth later, and finally 2 lower teeth. Only 10 of the planned 16 teeth had been bonded when my treatment with Dr Fee ended.
Initially I was happy with the closure of my front gap, but my experience deteriorated. During one appointment I experienced significant pain despite local anaesthetic. After an injection on the right side, I had pain and temporarily lost movement in my right nostril. I contacted the clinic before my next appointment, was told to attend, and after travelling there was told treatment could not proceed until the symptoms resolved.
At another appointment, the gum above one treated tooth became painful and swollen and developed green/yellow material that appeared infected. I sent photographs and was told Dr Fee had reviewed them and that this was part of the “normal healing process”. I contacted the clinic repeatedly because it was not improving. It eventually settled, but I later noticed recession in the area, also recorded in my clinical notes. I was reassured it was extremely mild; when I later obtained my records, I was concerned to see a reference to a future gum graft recommendation.
I also raised concerns about several bonded teeth looking too square and blocky, particularly the canines, and was told refinements could be made later.
My final treatment appointment was 30 January 2026, when 2 lower teeth were bonded. Afterwards I developed two large blister-like injuries on my lower lip, which I photographed. My bite also changed significantly. An independent dentist later documented two heavy contact points on the lower central incisors and advised that the remaining treatment needed to be completed to achieve even contacts.
I requested my records and paused treatment for an independent assessment. I later asked to continue with Dr Fee so the treatment could be completed, but the clinic refused and referred me elsewhere. Their referral letter confirmed the treatment remained incomplete and described the restorations as “interim in nature pending definitive finishing and review”, with further finishing and bite refinement required.
At that stage I had paid for 16 teeth, but only 10 had been bonded, leaving 6 untreated, an unfinished bite and refinements outstanding. I had chosen treatment in Ireland for continuity of care.
I also had concerns about the consent process. The document I later received contained more information than was verbally explained before signing, including information about removal of natural tooth enamel.
My last treatment was 30 January 2026. It is now October 2026 and I still experience sensitivity in teeth that were worked on.
Overall, what began as elective cosmetic treatment became a prolonged and stressful experience that left me needing further dental care.
Every patient’s experience may differ, but based on mine I cannot recommend Smile Hub or Dr Laura Fee for extensive composite bonding treatment. I would advise anyone considering this treatment to get more than one opinion, get the treatment and aftercare plan in writing, ask how much natural tooth structure may be altered, read consent documents carefully, and clarify what happens if the original dentist does not complete treatment.

Extremely disappointing experience with…
Extremely disappointing experience with Smile Hub Dental Clinic in Skerries.
I paid €800 for composite bonding on two front teeth with Dr Viktoriia Kanakina. One of the restorations failed within days, leaving me needing emergency treatment elsewhere at an additional cost of €275.
What made the experience even worse was how the complaint was handled afterwards. Communication was extremely slow, with days and sometimes weeks passing without a proper response. After more than a month of emails and follow-ups, a refund of €1,075 was finally agreed and I provided my bank details. I am still waiting for the refund to actually be paid.
For an issue involving expensive cosmetic dental treatment on my front teeth, I expected a much higher standard of treatment, communication and aftercare.
The whole experience has been stressful, time-consuming and extremely disappointing. I would strongly advise anyone considering cosmetic dental treatment here to do their research carefully.
AI agent & overcharging
The dentists are nice but their appointment booking system is all over the place. I booked an appointment for 6.15pm, then got a text reminder the week before the appointment saying it was at 5.45pm, and then another on the day of the appointment saying it was at 5.30pm and with a different dentist. No one notified me that my appointment time or dentist was changed and I would not have known had I not checked the appointment text. And then I would have been charged for a no-show.
This is what happens when you replace your receptionists with AI agents. Also worth noting that I was not asked if I consent to having my data fed to the AI agent until my first appointment, at which point I had already been "phoned" by the AI agent twice. So first they fed my data to AI and only afterwards did they seek my consent.
Lastly, my PRSI check-up and cleaning, which was supposed to cost €15, was upgraded to a €30 procedure, again without my knowledge or consent. I only found out when I went to pay and was charged twice as much as I was initially told.
The clinic does the job, but they are very clearly just trying to make as much money as possible - replacing paid staff with AI and finding ways to charge you more money without your knowledge. Unless you are happy with that, avoid. I won't be going back.
Needed a tooth extracted
Needed a tooth extracted, they left half the tooth in my mouth which didn’t heal. We’re unaccountable about appointments. Avoid at all cost
Practice policy to hold you hostage until you pay
Awful experience. Ive been going to the Bayside clinic for years but today my banking app wouldnt work when i tried to pay so i said i would run home and grab my card (less than 5 mins away). They refused to let me leave saying its "practice policy" to pay before i leave and insisted i set up a finance option they offer (which i didnt need or want) but after reluctantly agreeing to it, they were unable to set it up due to system issues. I was left mortified in reception in front of everyone in the waiting room. I even offered to leave my phone there until i came back with the card and they refused. They just kept repeating that i will need to contact somebody to pay it for me over the phone which i couldnt do. This went on, around in circles for over 30 mins until my app eventually worked and they let me leave.
Great service
