Amazon says free returns from a third party and then insists I pay it and claim it back. Eventually it's free but bad description and not good business ethics.

Misleading on free returns
Amazon says free returns from a third party and then insists I pay it and claim it back. Eventually it's free but bad description and not good business ethics.
Amazon has seriously lost the plot.
Amazon has seriously lost the plot.
Lost deliveries, returned to depot without explanation, damaged packaging, poorly packed items, using Royal Mail, using Evri. items left at delivery depot for days without being delivered, very poor customer service staff, leaving parcels on doorstep and not using door bells and other reasons too many to mention.
Getting Worse out of Bracknell
Amazon delivery used to be excellent. I live in Windsor and they now deliver out of Bracknell. Ever since this change the delivery has been hit and miss. They use too many third party couriers who couldn’t care less about customer service. I have started to buy elsewhere.
The delivery instructions—specifically…
The delivery instructions—specifically the route and drop-off procedure—are listed in the system because that’s how Amazon wants it done. But I have to ask: what is the point of these instructions if none of the drivers can read? It’s become a constant problem—even with the instructions right there in the system, the driver still doesn't know what to do! My husband was out walking the dog when he got a text message about the delivery because the driver couldn't get in. It’s a gated complex: you have to punch the apartment number into the panel, the intercom rings, the camera activates, and the wife presses a button to let them in—simple, right? Well, not for Amazon drivers; apparently, they need picture instructions. Anyway, my husband was out with the dog (as I mentioned) and walked toward the gate; he saw no one there, so he asked me to find out where the driver was. The courier claimed he was standing at the gate and couldn't get in, but I told him my husband was right there at the gate and there wasn't a soul—or a vehicle—in sight! The call with the courier cut off, so we called the helpline to ask what was going on. A guy on the line said the driver had told dispatch that there was no one around and he couldn't enter. I told him, "My husband has been standing at the gate for 30 minutes and the driver isn't there, so why is the courier lying?" Of course, there was an apology, and the package is supposedly arriving tomorrow—though who knows. You can shove that apology right up your black hole, dear Amazon; you hire morons and ignoramuses as couriers who don't even know how to use a doorbell. So, the only thing left to do is leave reviews so people know what your moronic company is like!
Delivery instructions regularly ignored
First, I will say that almost all of our (many) items ordered are well packed, and arrive more or less on time.
However, why does Amazon have a section for the customer to choose safe place etc, when the item is most often left on the doorstep in full view of the road, and the instructions not read Furthermore, a handful of times, the tracking says, "through letter box" when our Ring doorbell app quite clearly shows the delivery driver placing the item against the front door! And photographing it, before rushing away!!! We do realise the volume of deliveries brings pressure, but the customer is badly disrespected by these rushed actions of delivery drivers. I doubt things will change because Amazon, by the lack of action, doesn't seem to respect the customer either. I would accept a reduction in my Amazon Prime annual payment, but the likelihood of this is even less than a floating brick.
Disability chat purely there to pay lip service
Went onto a chat which should have been specifically for people with disability needs.
It was not - and it was more stressful than going on their normal chat.
So, this is Amazon pretending to care about people who require disability help - but not really caring at all - and not providing what I need anyway!
I asked for a manager and they just hung up!
i wrote a review of an item that was…
i wrote a review of an item that was advertised as a genuine part from creality 3d printers , the item i received was NOT the creality branded item i purchased
when i pointed this out and posted pictures of the item i received amazon refused to post it saying it broke rules , the item broke the rules with false advertising , they wont let the truth be told this is disgraceful honest reviews are what we rely on when shopping online and any discrepancy should be shown and rectified not hidden
What is happening with delivery agents…
What is happening with delivery agents here in Dundee Scotland The last few deliveries I’ve had have been left either in garden or at the front door which is unsafe I’ve deliberately stayed at home but they don’t come to the door at all Just dump parcel and leave Definitely not good enough 😡
In my opinion
In my opinion, Amazon has become a bit of a scam. Some of the prices are simply a rip-off—£95 a year for the privilege of Prime, with no excuses.
Drivers often leave parcels outside for everyone to see and don't even bother knocking on the door. I've also found that many of the same items on Temu are less than half the price.
I'm cutting back on my regular Amazon purchases, especially now that more groceries are being sold through Iceland and Morrisons. Have you seen some of their reviews? On top of that, the prices are often higher. I recently stopped using Iceland deliveries because the delivery crates were filthy, and now Amazon is using them too.
Delivery times seem to change with almost every order, making them unreliable. And as for the environment, I've had up to four separate deliveries in a single day, with oversized boxes and far too much unnecessary packaging.
For me, Amazon just isn't offering the value or service it used to.EDIT on subscriptions there saying they can't get items subscribed for years, its a lie compamys like morrisons still sell them for more money!!!
⭐ 1 STAR
⭐ 1 STAR – FINAL UPDATE: £114 REFUND STILL NOT RECEIVED – AMAZON’S HANDLING IS UNACCEPTABLE
I am posting this final update because Amazon’s handling of a straightforward £114 refund has now become completely unacceptable.
Amazon confirmed that my refund would be issued and that I should receive it within 5–7 days. The money has not arrived. I have contacted my bank and have been advised that no refund from Amazon has been received.
I have already contacted Amazon numerous times through the appropriate channels. I have spoken to customer service by telephone, used the Amazon app and messaging services, and have been redirected between different teams. I have also received acknowledgements and emails from Amazon, yet instead of somebody taking ownership of the matter and tracing the missing £114, I repeatedly receive generic or automated responses and am told to start the process again.
Amazon has also repeatedly claimed that they cannot recognise or locate the relevant account/email, despite continuing to send communications concerning my enquiries.
The situation has now become even more absurd. On 14 August 2026, instead of receiving an answer about my missing refund, Amazon sent me an email titled “Your Amazon.com Inquiry: Report Suspicious Activity”, directing me to yet another form and stating that I would receive an update within 24 hours. My complaint is not a request to report suspicious activity. It is a request for Amazon to account for and return £114 of my money.
This is no longer simply about waiting a few extra days for a refund. It is about the way a customer complaint is being handled: repeated redirection, contradictory responses, automated emails, failure to address the actual issue, and apparently no individual willing to take responsibility for resolving it.
I have retained the emails, refund confirmation, correspondence and records of my communications, including the latest “Report Suspicious Activity” response.
I am therefore requesting one final time that Amazon:
1. Immediately investigate and trace the £114 refund.
2. Provide written confirmation of the exact date the refund was processed and the payment method/account to which it was returned.
3. Provide the refund transaction/reference number so that it can be independently traced with my bank.
4. If the refund was not successfully processed, reissue the full £114 without further delay.
5. Stop redirecting me through generic customer-service processes and have this matter reviewed by a person with authority to resolve it.
I have given Amazon more than enough opportunities to resolve this directly. If the money remains outstanding, I will consider the appropriate formal consumer and payment-dispute escalation routes available to me.
For a company of Amazon’s size, the amount of time and effort required to obtain a £114 refund that Amazon itself confirmed is astonishing.
I do not require another automated apology or another link telling me to contact customer service. I require my £114 refund and documentary confirmation showing exactly what has happened to it.
Useless delivery staff that dump good…
Useless delivery staff that dump good behind a bin even without attempting to knock on a door or ring a door bell!
Even more useless is the so called customer service, they have chatbot which poses its own questions, there's absolutely NO attempt to find out why a customer is trying to contact them!!
I ordered a book to be shipped to…
I ordered a book to be shipped to Egypt. The final price which appeared at checkout totaled EGP 1000 but in realty they deducted EGP 4000 form my credit card. So, I asked customer service for cancellation and issuing a refund while the order has not been shipped yet. They confirmed by email that the order has been cancelled and that the refund is on its way. Surprisingly, an hour later, I was stunned to get an email saying 'item dispatched'. I contacted the amazon.co. uk customer service again, who in turn said sorry currently, we can't do anything about it since the item has been shipped.
This is the second time I get scammed by amazon.co.uk. Earlier this year, I ordered a medical handheld laser device for home use, but received a different model in Egypt and when I asked for a refund or the product already ordered, they said: you have to return the item back, which is a hassle and will cost me much more than the device itself, so they can check it and then will issue the refund. The best description for them, assuming their good intentions, the team there is absolutely unprofessional. This is the worst amazon branch ever!
Wrong product sent and refund not received after paying for return fees as well
On 1st of July I received a completely different product but the one advertised. I started the return and refund process and returned the product on 1st of July using the label provided through the portal. I was surprised to find out I have to pay 13eur just to send the product back but in good faith I went ahead and did it. I have provided Amazon UK all the details requested and the proof of sending back the product. After a lot of back and forth they close the case although I didn't get my money back. Very unreliable. Avoid. After a long history of being a loyal customer to Amazon decided to never order again from them and take legal actions about this situation.
Been a prime member for years.
Been a prime member for years.
Delivery times are shockingly bad and parcels dont turn up and no explination.
Prime tv is now getting more and more full of adverts and we still have to pay.
I am seriously thinking about canceling my prime and shopping else-where.
Very disappointed! Ordered item on 24/06/2026 for same day…
Ordered item on 24/06/2026 for same day delivery. On my account it says leave at front door or neighbour. Nothing! Waited until 10pm on 25/06/2026 still nothing. Just a message to say your item is running late. This isn’t the first time this has happened. Very disappointed!!!
Amazons customer service model should be criminalised
Amazon have not delivered any of the gifts my family have sent to our father for fathers day - but they make it physically impossible to complain on their website about their service.
All I wanted to happen was for them to resend the goods to the correct address - but this is not possible.
I tried to get a refund and send again but again the delivery went to the wrong address and all I can do it talk to chatbots which say they will do something but do not. I have provided GPS coordinates on the delivery address and spent so much time trying to sort this out but after spending days on this along with each member of our family whose gifts also didnt arrive. I can only conclude that despite making 77bn profit from us all last year that Amazon couldn't care less about the service they themselves provide. They are happy to forward complaints to resellers but there is no way to complain about them themselves. No number, no email address - only bots which serve to waste a lot of my time and do not keep the promises they make. What Amazon do should be made illegal!. How can it be that such a big company can make it impossible to complain about their service and speak to human when things go wrong! - I'm done with them, There is no way that I will knowingly buy another thing from a company that thinks its OK to not allow their customers a voice.
Zero customer service
Zero customer service. I just keep getting the same questions for the bot. No way of even answering my question. Absolute abysmal customer service. The phone number given is out of service. I would give zero stars if I could
🚫 Fake Delivery Attempts & Lies: Do Not Use This Service
I am writing this to warn others about the terrible delivery experiences I've had recently. It seems to be getting worse, with lost parcels and outright lies from customer service.
The Smoking Gun: Impossible Timestamps Their system claimed an "attempted delivery" at 7:24 am, and I received the notification at 7:25 am. Let's be clear: It is physically impossible to complete a delivery attempt in one minute. It takes at least a full minute just to walk up and buzz the front door. This proves the driver never showed up and simply marked the package as "failed" to cover their tracks.
The "Buzz In" Excuse is Nonsense I live in a 4-story flat. You must buzz in to get access. The driver claimed they "banged on the front door." Banging on the exterior door of a secure block is useless; no one inside can hear it. Plus, my first-floor neighbors are typically loud and present; if anyone had actually come to the door or buzzed, they would have answered. This was a fabricated excuse.
Customer Service is Worse Than the Delivery When I complained, the support agent (based in India) told me 1,000 lies that were easily disproven. The most insulting part? The same agent called me back later, not to fix my lost parcel, but to ask if I had completed a feedback survey. They care more about their metrics and surveys than actually solving the problem or admitting they lost my package.
I am canceling my service immediately. Too much stress, too many lies, and zero accountability. Avoid this company.
Get your act together!
Amazon was once good and provided a rliable service. My recent experience was just dreadful. I ordered a product for next day delivery. It didn't turn up. I was notified after 11pm that it would be delivered five days later. I tried to contact customer services to cancel my order but nobody answred. At 3.12 am the order was updated saying "Delivery attempted" but no one at home. In the morning I tried customer services again. I was passed through verified connections and was told there was no one to speak to. Never experienced such appalling communication with Amazon before. Get your act together!
Order # 204-9734381-1515551
Ref order 202-2256100-2480356
Ref order. 202-2256100-2480356
Driver reported handing my parcel to me by name.
Totally false.
Reported it on website and told to wait 2 days before reporting again.
Why, because I might remember being handed it by Saturday?
The driver nicked it or chucked it. It isn’t going to turn up.
Stop designing processes hoping people will just give up!
