This is a terrible platform
This is a terrible platform! Please stop forcing shareowners to use it. The online account failed suddenly out of no reason, and all restore method provided on the website is not working. And the customer service is awful that you need to chase them all over the place to get help, and they are not helpful at all that no one is able to resolve problems immediately. It's investors' real money in there, and shareowneronline just don't give a shit. Worse platfrom I've ever used.
I sold my shares weeks ago
I sold my shares weeks ago. Still no payment. It's been slow updates and cheques that didn't arrive.
Lately, I have started using Novus Limes. The difference is noticeable.
Bad bad. Company
This has got to be the worse company I have ever dealt with. Run run run. I wouldn’t give these people a dime of my money. They have more rules than a High school. But they don’t tell you that up front. Sold some Lilly stock last week. Well today it’s up 100.00 a share. Well. I can’t sell anymore for 2 weeks. Wtf. Is it my stock. Or yours. You won’t send out checks next day air. They don’t have that I was told. I’ve got to get my inheritance out of here before I have a heart attack.
One star is too good for them!
We sold stock on April 9 2025. It is June now and we still haven’t received a check. Company refuses to direct deposit. Called multiple times for help and no one has been able to. The “Specialists” that are supposed to call back never do. We have been hung up on by call takers. We’ve heard the lie of “You check will come in 10 business days” for 2 months now.
I can't get my stocks out of Shareowner Services fast enough
I've had an account with Shareowner Services since 2017 when it was owned and operated by Wells Fargo. This was sold at some point to EQ. I visited the shareownersonline website recently to get some transaction detail from 2017. To my shock (1) they no longer have any information about my account prior to 2020 and (2) they want to charge me if I want any of the missing information. I'm shocked they can get away with this.
Company that needs to be investigated
The Better Business Bureau, Security Exchange Commission, newsmedia, etc should investigate this company's business practices. This is the absolute worst company I've ever dealt with. I have been trying to settle my dad's affairs for the last 2 years. If you are dealing with company be informed that this will be a struggle.
Zero Stars- Stay Away
I have been trying to sell stocks with this company for over 8 months now. About every 3 weeks I get around to the excruciatingly painful experience of working on the next piece of the puzzle to get this over with.
I was told last year that before selling stocks I had to remove my custodian on the account, despite the custodian also approving of the sale. Okay, fine. 3 months, 2 sets of mailed documents, several frustrating call to customer service, and a $150 in fees later, my custodian is removed. But suddenly so has all my stocks?! I contact customer service through the portal and they essentially report "everything is fine" several times, each instance requiring a week to hear back. So I decide to call again.
I guess they opened a whole new account for me but never said anything about it? They act like I should have just known to call, despite no email OR person from their team messaging or mailing this to me. Fine. But they can't give me the account number over the phone, so I have to wait for it to come via snail mail. If it had to be sent through the mail, why didn't they just send it to me to begin with?!
After finally getting the account number in the mail, I try to log in, only to find that I need an authenticator ID. Turns out that has to be snail mailed too, but that request can only be made AFTER I waited to get the account number mailed to me. I request it, and after 3 weeks of nothing, I request another. Another two weeks and I finally get it.
Great, now I can log in and sell stocks, right? No. Now I will have a several weeks long process of miscellaneous account access issues that are eventually resolved despite no one acknowledging that there was ever anything wrong. I go to sell and find out that since my custodian was removed, now I have to tax certify my new account, so I follow the prompts to do that online.
Of course, the portal only shows error codes, and several more calls and messages to customer service resolve nothing so I printed out the form and mailed it to their office.
Now weeks later, they claim they never received anything from me. I am serious wondering how this is not illegal at this point, because it seems like they are just INVENTING ways to keep me from being able to liquidate my account with them.
I sincerely hope to see this company destroyed. I'd happily forfeit my meager stocks money if it meant no one else could get scammed by these people.
HOW IS THIS OK??????
I am very disheartened and borderline panicking reading all of these reviews as I am getting the same runaround everyone else seems to get. My father passed away in 2022 and I’m still trying to get control of his accounts. Before he passed away, we placed his exelon shares in a revocable trust. in April 2022 exelon spun off constellation and issued shares in proportion to exelon shares owned ….which they did not place within the trust account. When I filled out the request for a “full share summary report” and had to wait three weeks to receive the information in writing, they only disclosed the constellation shares (outside of the revocable trust) and said that he had zero shares in exelon. Because of this error, I may have to go through probate to get the constellation shares as they are valued outside the threshold for the small estate affidavit in Illinois. I sent them a letter on April 7 of course overnighted with signature and I am still waiting to get a response. And then they say that it can take up to 20 days after they receive the stock power transfer form. This feels like such a scam where you get so frustrated that you give up and then they just keep the stocks. I am not gonna trust them to sell the shares. I’m just transferring them to a different brokerage account. I just don’t even know how they are conducting business like this with no consequences.
Crappy service at its finest
If you want lousy customer service, if you want to be berated, treated poorly, repeated reasonable requests completely ignored then this is the company for you. If you want good customer service, it ain't happenin' here. A BIG YUCK!
Company Does Not Do As They Say
Sold stocks and selected for them to be direct deposited into my accounts. Per the company website these should be directly deposited w/in 2 business days. Contacted shareowneronline as deposit had not happened after 3 business days. I was told they had issues with direct deposit (it’s Bank of America, never have issues with anyone else) & a paper check was sent and it would be another 7 to 10 business days. Initial person I spoke with I could not understand with an extremely thick accent. The next lady told me they don’t notify if issues with direct deposit and just take it upon them to mail a check. The shipping method they utilize is just regular US postal service with no tracking information.
This companies methods are extremely concerning and all the reviews seem to express the same thing. Avoid if possible…..
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! THEY REFUSE TO TELL YOU ANYTHING!
They will not disclose the most basic of information about your assets to you. AVOID USING THIS SITE AT ALL COSTS!
THE WORST
This company is the WORST and could care less about it. They have been holding my deceased cousins stocks hostage for months, as the value continues to decline.
Do NOT entrust them with your assets.
Inefficient, incompetent, borderline dishonest firm
Inefficient, incompetent, borderline dishonest organization.
My mother passed away on November 7, 2024. It took literally three months of repetitive submission of Letters of Instruction and Stock Power forms to effect ownership transfer and sale of three securities managed by this firm. Their telephone agents speaking variably comprehensible English and cannot answer the most basic of questions. Voided checks were submitted with their "Sale After Transfer" forms to allow for wire transfer of sold shares, but instead they mailed checks...which as is the case for everything they send by mail, they use pre-sorted first class mailings which no doubt save money but result in ten business days to be received. I have reported them to the SEC and New York State Department of Financial Services to ensure that their unacceptable business practices are documented.
When I sold my stocks
When I sold my stocks, I set up direct deposit. A week later when it wasn't showing up, I called and asked when I should expect to see it. They explained that they mailed me a check and to expect it in 10 additional days. I asked why they didn't direct deposit it or let me know if there was an issue, and they did not have an answer. My bank is about 200 miles away, so this has become very inconvenient and caused a lot of delays. I still don't know the issue either, so they are not very helpful and I can foresee problems the next time I go to sell or buy. I will be bringing this to my companies attention.
Avoid at all costs.
Avoid at all costs.
This business makes it as expensive and time consuming as possible to sell shares. Then they send a check when the sale instruction is for payment to be via EFT. Unlike every other business, they can't seem to cancel a check and instead want to charge an additional $139 USD to rectify the mistake they made.
Every interaction over the phone is frustrating and after 17 days I am still waiting for a response to a written message. Worst customer service ever. I can't believe reputable businesses such as Procter & Gamble have a business like this representing them. Their processes are antiquated and designed to make you abandon rather than sell shares.
If I could give negative stars
If I could give negative stars, I would. You call to get help and talk to someone who tells you that they can only help you via the mail. Anyone who you get on the phone can't seem to answer questions or perform any action without putting the call on hold (sometimes for an eternity). Then they come back to tell you that you have to contact them by mail. What a joke. Words to the wise. Do not invest in any company that has EQ as the transfer agent
Needed help with a document, simple right? NOPE
Needed help with a document. They claim their "policy" does not allow them to help people who don't know their account number, except by mail. I explained that I needed the documented immediately and they gave zero shits. Policies are not laws, there is ALWAYS a way to help a customer, they just choose not to.
My husband recently passed away and he…
My husband recently passed away and he had shares wih GE AEROSPACE, which are held/controlled by EQ in the USA. Trying to get them transferred is nothing short of a nightmare. EQ send you information of what you have to do, but it's totally confusing. They say call us for help, what a joke, when you call them for help its less than useless they then tell you to mail them, you email them with questions and they respond with please call us for help!! To add to this it's just so antiquated everything is by fax!! Or postal service, I mean come on we are in the age of electronic transfer! Awful way to deal with bereaved people, it would be a nice thing if you had a dedicated team to deal and help people in a situation where I am right now. Your company and service are nothing short of a disgrace.
Worse than horrendous experience with EQ Shareowneronline
I am a Co-Executor of my deceased mother's estate. My experience trying to re-title shares held by EQ Shareowneronline in the name of the estate with the intention of selling those shares mirror the bad experiences reported by the majority of reviewers on this site. I had filled out the required forms to re-title the account in the name of the estate. The required Medallion Stamp was obtained. The forms, original stock certificate and certificate of administration dated within 90 days of submission were sent in using FedEx overnight delivery with signature requested to confirm delivery. After several weeks had passed without any communication from EQ Shareowneronline, I began the arduous process of contacting the transfer agent by phone. After many calls and hours on hold over several days, I was informed that FedEx had delivered the documents. I was then told that the original stock certificate which I had carefully placed in the FedEx envelope after copying it was missing. All the other documents were received. Now I have to go through the same arduous process again but have to report that "I lost the certificate for ___ shares." when the reality is that Shareowneronline "lost" the original stock certificate. This process of course requires payment of a $75.00 processing fee with the caveat that "There may be additional fees and documents required." This entire process was begun before the severe market decline we are now experiencing and the value of this asset has significantly declined. I am in the process of re-submitting the forms and requesting replacement of the "lost" certificate. I am doubtful that the certificate will be replaced in a timely fashion but am confident that the expense to the estate will not be trivial. In summary, I am very concerned that business practices such as those described above are allowed to continue without any oversight by regulators.
These people couldn't run a lemonade…
These people couldn't run a lemonade stand.should be reported to s.e.c for horrible service
