SCAM! Please stay away.
Been on the lookout for a safari holiday for about week, I have been pretty priced out by most companies.
I came across Seven Zones Travel on Facebook and requested a quote.
An agent replied to me with what seemed to be a decent quote, but not quite what I was looking for. After asking for what I was looking for, the agent gave me an updated quote which seemed good.
I confirmed the details making sure there was going to be no issues during the trip. Anyway, the first Red Flag appeared, but naively I accepted it, this agent sent me the Safari itinerary screenshot, the screenshot being of a Get Your Guide itinerary and not of their own.
Before I called up to book, I made sure the company was on HMRC Company Search, which they are. I also saw that they were ATOL protected, stupidly of me I didn’t check the ATOL search though to confirm this.
So I felt happy with proceeding, I called the agent to get her to confirm the details and over the phone they seemed correct. I sent a bank transfer for the deposit and then 30 minutes later, the agent sent me the invoice/confirmation. After reviewing this document, I noticed numerous errors with dates and transfers, which I had absolutely confirmed with the agent on Facebook Messenger. The agent did “correct” this, but then there were still errors on the itinerary, this is when I thought that something is not right with this company.
After this, I requested a refund of the deposit as I felt that the trip would not run smoothly and that I had very low confidence in this company.
This request was sent to the supervisor. The supervisor called me and explained that the terms & conditions state that once a deposit is paid, this is non refundable. So I explained that I was never presented any terms & conditions before I made the payment. UK law states that for terms & conditions to be valid, they must be presented before any payment is made. So in this case Seven Zones’ terms & conditions are void.
Over the course of numerous days I had some back and forth over WhatsApp trying to get a refund and timescales. The messages they send are very contradicting. Some say we are talking to suppliers to get your refund. Some say you can’t have a refund.
This company claims they are trying to assist me, but all they are doing is trying to hide the fact that they are a scam.
After all this, I said, if you do not refund me within a certain amount of time, I shall be reporting the company to relevant authorities.
Later after this, I received what seemed to be a pretty final email from the supervisor. The email basically stated the terms & conditions, which again, I didn’t see until after a paid. Then they blamed me for their bank account being frozen because I reported them, even though at this point I had only threatened to report them, not actually done so yet.
This email was the turning point for me, so I did contact my bank and I have also filed a fraud claim against them with the police. I have received a crime number and left it open for a possible case, which I ticked to say that I would support this in court should it go to court. I’ve also informed ATOL/CAA that the this company is claiming to be ATOL protected if though they can’t be found on the ATOL website.
After this, I received an email from the supervisor offering for me to go in and see them to sort the issue out. So I replied asking for an appointment. The supervisor responded with “I will let you know about your appointment” knowing he can’t actually offer me an appointment as there’s no where for the appointment to take place. I replied the next day asking them to update me on my appointment. The supervisor then said “after I seen the availability I will let you know”. So they can never actually confirm anything.
Since I wrote the initial review, they somehow managed to arrange an appointment, but I’ve questioned what the “shop” looks like so I know what I’m looking for, I’m still waiting for a response three days later. For context, they have been replying within hours.
I have numerous screenshots and emails downloaded as evidence.
So a few pointers:
- All the agents seemed to be named after famous people (which due to trustpilot policy, I’m not allowed to disclose - just read some other reviews to see)
- They claim to be ATOL certified, but are not on the ATOL website
- They say one thing, then the next minute, say the opposite. They can never give a straight answer.
- They seem to be reachable on WhatsApp 24/7, so they must never sleep or rest.
- They post fake reviews on sites, such as this one. Naming agents in a positive light regularly.
If anyone else has gone through this, please, please report this company to the police’s fraud department and help take this company down.
I really hope no one else gets scammed by these awful people. STAY AWAY!
