previously purchased a second hand tenoner from them. which was a good price, with quick and swift delivery after been put through the workshop for a look over. 3 years later its going strong.

Machine manuals

Scott and Sargent offer a great service for older woodworking machine manuals. I couldn't find the manual for my Stenner VHM36 anywhere else. Excellent company.

Excellent transaction

Very good manual and service these guys know there stuff and have pretty much anything you need , when ever you need tools in a rush I call up and they all ways oblige. top team great tools

Manual download

What a great selection of online manuals, had the one for the second hand machine I bought (that never came with a manual), all the info needed to get things set up right before it was put in production.
Great to see somebody is taking the time to put manuals online and it was quick and easy to download as well.

I ordered a Startrite planer which was…

I ordered a Startrite planer which was said in the manual to be supplied with a 3 pin connection in the UK. It was delivered without a connection at all. I emailed S&S on the day of delivery as I could not use the machine. 2 weeks later I called S&S to be told that my email had been passed to Mark at S&S and he had not dealt with it. Mark called. No apology. I scanned and sent him the manual. A week passed with no word. I phoned again and spoke to Mark who said he 'thought' he had phoned me.(he hadn't) and said he thought it was a 16 amp machine not supplied with a lead. No apology. No customer service. Just defensive. When I said none of the literature or web info refers to it as a 16 amp machine he said I was being 'disingenuous. the mark of a good company is how it deals with things when they go wrong. On this showing, S&S does not deserve to be in business.

Hi Alex,

Apologies for the confusion

I have checked the specification that was shown on our website, and although it didn't state that the machine could run on a 13a supply, we are updating that to show that it DOES require a 16a supply.

The manual states that a 3 pin plug and cable is provided with the machine, and that is the case. However, it is a 16a blue round plug which goes into the blue round female socket that the picture on the website clearly shows, and not a 13a 3 pin plug.

Apologies if any confusion arose. Our telephone number is clearly shown on our website, and we always encourage customers to ring and ask any technical questions that they may have prior to purchase - we have a team of sales people here to do just that.

We have offered two options for returning the machine for a refund should your circumstances preclude you from connecting to a 16a 240v supply.

Good source for machine manuals

We needed a few manuals for the used machines that we purchased. Searched them for days until we found out that Scott+Sargeant have them available. Got them by email within minutes of placing the order. Very pleased.

First Order to Scott+Sargeant Very Disappointing…

Ordered a digital calliper from Scott+Sargeant. After 4 days I received an email saying they could not get this item and had processed a refund. Another 4 days have passed and 2 emails to the Company - (the last one hasn't even been graced by a reply from them).
Refund has now been sorted out. Thank you

I am sorry about your disappointment - we are a small business and we try to do our best. Let me explain the chain of events:
Your order was placed on 16 January 2020 at 16:18:17 GMT Transaction ID: 6BL54904TB405864F, which was after our daily cut off time.

The order was processed on the Friday morning first thing. We requested our supplier to send direct to you on the friday. They came back to us on the Monday morning, when we were told there was a supply issue. We emailed you on the Monday and refunded you on 20 January 2020 at 15:08:14 GMT Transaction ID: 7KD52303FK667535C
Once we have process the refund, it is out of our hands - you really need to complain to paypal about the delay in processing your refund. We have done everything we can at our end in a timely manner.
I would appreciate it if you could modify your review as I think it is a little unfair and harsh under the circumstances. We are not Amazon, we are a small, niche family business and reviews make all the difference.
