Begging For Donations!..These Charity shops make a fortune from selling goods online yet when you go into there shops and purchase something they beg customers for 50 pence for charity at the till. It Happen to me today at the Peckham Shop!! Even though they keep all the good donations to sell online and put out the crp stuff in their shops!.. Pure Greed.

Excellent customer service
Excellent customer service. I spoke to Alex today who was extremely helpful and understanding. He explained things clearly and was polite and friendly! I’m very glad I called today to get the support I needed.
Scope Advisor Alex was extremely helpful
I have a disability and work full time. I wanted to carry on working but my disability has gotten to a point where I no longer able to carry out my work duties full time. I contacted Scope and spoke to Alex, I wanted advice on benefits if I were to drop my hours and what my earnings would look like. He was very helpful and wenthrough it with me. He eased my anxiety around my finances and gave me as much information around benefits. It would be easier if I just stopped working but even with a disability, I like to know I can still contribute to society that's why I'm still pushing to work even though I have been advise I shouldn't.
I would like to thank Alex and Scope for supporting disabled individuals such as myself
The Shadows of Scope
The Shadows of Scope
I joined their forum, which seems at first like a place you can get good advice and such. It isnt.
First of all, they lack any understanding of disability, and particularly Mental Health. They see disability as a card, as something that entitles to a certain benefit or eligibility for anything. From there they just copy paste gov.uk stuff as if you didnt know it in the first place.
in essence this is a cafe, a "share your pain" area of the internet. They are still a charity and enjoy donations, and i read here and elsewhere they are more of a business than any meaningful help to people.
All you get from them (again I speak about the forum) is the lowest, basic listening skills you can get anywhere. That is: paraphrasing what you say, asking a few questions, using words like "this must be too much", "i am so sorry x happened", "how are you feeling about that" and the standard blah blah you get form anyone who has done a 2 hours of listening skills online free course.
From that point, they have zero understanding of mental health, literally I have spoken to customer support of retailers who are more empathetic and understand struggles of Autism (in my case) than they do.
They rely on few individuals with physical disability fan base, very few indeed, about 5-10 but who appear on every post, and in reality instead of advice, they just say what happened with their case (which is useless by their own words, saying every case is different) and they look like having a race who get to have more posts (like the woman with the flower in her name).
Dont get me wrong, these people are there genuinely, but somehow they get absorbed by the core of scope, obey rules of positing like robots just to be allowed there, and eventually end up to be slaves of a illusion, a charity that has an agenda.
When it comes to you, taking part in an online community, you post your thoughts and if they dont like it, or understand it (because you are a neurodivergent and they are neurotypical) they lock and then remove your post, without a chance to explain yourself, and they draw their own neurotypical assumptions.
It is really a disgusting place, and to be totally fair, because it cancels mental heath disability, i did find some comfort at first, but all their advise was eventually wrong (like dont post your form next day delivery it will not get there any faster, when i sent 5 pists to DWP next day and it was in the system the next day).
In a nutshell they thing they are some regulatory organisation on what your disability is, how it affects you and how it defines you. They think they are some kind of gods amongst mortals.
After reading here, I am confident to say, avoid this place, it says charity, but its business as usual. I have read about charities that went rogue, and misused money, and i read here such allegations. I am not surprised at all.
I will say, I have my own mental health struggles, Take my review with caution, do your own research and approach this place with an open mind. But the other reviews here seem to justify my experience was not an accident, or generated in my imagination.

My support person was lovely and really tried.
Unfortunately they use inclusive interviewing and a points system. If you are older than the interviewer, or cannot manage their corporate waffle there is no point applying for a job here. Their systems are over the top and unneeded, like you need to learn a new language to stand a chance of interviewing successfully, non of them have common sense and like all "inclusive interview places" they are all under thirty. Even my local disability organisation warned me not to bother, if you are a robot who speaks like A1 and you are under thirty without a visible disability you might be ok.

Shocking

I thought SCOPE existed to help the disabled
I have mental and physical disabilities and asked for a little assistance with help for food shopping. All I received was a useless piece of information about budgeting and where food banks are. I thought SCOPE existed to help the vulnerable. I also give my free time to run a self-funded lived experience charity supporting men with the diagnosis of Borderline personality disorder and we have secured £500 funding for each member to assist them in poverty but nobody wants to assist me.

Scope Bromley’s manager Ann Cox is rude and unprofessional. Agreeing to things and then denying any knowledge and when the proof is presented to her she refuses to talk or acknowledge it.

Useless service
Absolutely useless disability employment help service, unless you’re clued up with phones or computers, which I am not!
This is discrimination, gone are the days where you could chat to someone in person, that understands you. Now they just give you the “Sorry, I can’t help you” and send you on your way!
Scope Community Forum is vile
I used Scope Community site back in 2018 about a benefit issue concerning pensions then didn't use it again until now. One member started bullying and trawling through my posts insinuating I was a benefit cheat because I had posted how I was having problems with the DWP and it was making me suicidal. As I was using my old mobile phone I couldn't see how to block this person.
They kept raiding all my posts so any time I made any comment they jumped all over them and wouldn't leave me alone and looking the 2018 post to now and encouraging others to do the same. They had styled themselves as a benefit expert' saying that everything I had been told by a law centre was wrong and I was a liar and I don't want to say what they said would happen to me as it is too terrifiying. So I ignored them but they kept bothering me then when I finally responded and told them to go away scope had ago after they wrote in their post I had insulted them. All I had said was tio leave me alone. Scope took their side and banned me saying I had broken house rules by insulting this member by telling them I don't want their advice.
I had stupidly used the site because I was feeling desperate and this person kept reporting my posts and getting whole thread removed and bullying me. The moderators were completely one sided. Even after I had explained that it was this member making contact with me and them giving benefit advice I didn't want. I was not sleeping and eating and waiting for next dreadful comment but they only ever took action after I had told the person to go away and the blamed ME and said this person was here to give advice whether I wanted it or not. I didn't as their advice was unwanted, unverified and just designed to make me feel terrified of what was going to happen to me to the point I couldn't carry on.
The people on the site were vile and very judgmental. This person saw themselves as a DWP spokesperson working to protect their image and the public purse from cheats. I am a disabled person who is struggling and when I asked them to stop they used me of being abusive and got me banned from the site. At no point did I ever say anything to this member who invited others to pile on. In fact I asked them to delete my account three times but they ignored me and ignored my complaints about this person. It was a truly vile site with awful judgemental people. The moderators were appalling and kept jumping over my posts removing threads and giving unwanted advice I didn't ask for. They had no clue how things work such as continually telling me to go to GP when I had explained repeatedly the GP had said they couldn't help after all mental health rejected. I came out of my experience with scope feeling listened to unheard and bullied into believing that I deserve only bad this to happen to me.
Went in scope at Selby with my wife
Went in scope at Selby with my wife, or as Huntington’s we go to Selby every Wednesday for at least five years I was about 25 feet from my wife when I had the assistant say there was a drunk lady that needs removing. I asked the lady or she shouted to. Is she talking about my wife she has Huntington’s. I took my wife from the shop. We have never had a problem in any shop or pub at any time we go out about four times a week to different towns. My wife doesn’t drink and this is the first time anybody has it. He said anything I was totally disgusted for a charity shop to kick us out. She wasn’t making any noise does it talking she was just looking Causing no problem to anybody I must say it was a different member of staff. We used to go in there every Wednesday and they are very polite, but it only takes one ignorant person It was a lady in early 60s, who seem like she was very stuck up, seem to like the power
The Cambridge store isn’t even worth…
The Cambridge store isn’t even worth one star! Miserable woman who seemed to be running the shop and random man at the till who snarled at me when I approached to pay and just chucked my items in a heap for me to fold and put in my bag. Don’t work in a shop if you’ve got no people skills!
I won’t be returning to buy or donate ever again!!
I worked for SCOPE for a long time and…
I worked for SCOPE for a long time and gradually got more and more disillusioned by this charity. What with higher level managers who seemed to be interested more in their bonuses and impoverishing staff at the bottom, taking advantage of volunteers. What amazed me the most was a shop manager who creamed off the best of the donations for herself to furnish her house or to sell on. Very PC sounding, but in practice a charity with little concern for its employees or those it was supposed to be helping. Give to a charity which deserves the money. I have dated this as today, but actually this applies to many years' experience years ago.
