Complete rip-off merchants, tried to charge £260 for a £40 security lock, just for the barrel - not including fitting. Avoid completely. Sent packing. Assholes.

Never use a firm called Samlocks which is run by Gil Frenkel.

They claim not to charge a call out fee, but when their locksmith arrived, he tried to charge us £249 for a new lock that costs less than £20. We told the locksmith this was unacceptable. The Locksmith then initimidated our guy into paying a £59 charge because he claimed he had carried out works to the lock. The payment of £59 was made by debit card and now we have found out that a payment of £89 was taken out of our account.

We called another locksmith who was recommended to us by a colleague, who then came out to carry out a very minor repair to the existing lock for £65 and the existing lock works perfectly now.

Never use Samlocks and Gil Frenkel. They are a very a very bad company that claims to cover lots of different areas, but they will just try to rip you off.

Told my partner they would charge £89 on the phone, website claims no call out charge, when he arrived he obviously took advantage of a young girl on her own and the bill was £300. Didn’t give her any chance to not angr to the bill. Also she was told he would be 30 to 45 mins, he was actually 1:30.

Scammers!!! Avoid at all costs. I was told £59 for labour and £25 for each lock. I had two locks to change and they demanded £380 off me. I eventually paid £100 to get them out of my house but he ran off with the keys then swore at me when I called him to bring them back.

I had to pay another company to change the locks again.

Another scammed person this time Samlocks Hatfield to replace a lock I got charged a call out fee of £60 there was meant to be no call out fee and 389 for the security lock + 20% vat and fitting all together came to nearly 900 I had to pay it as my dogs where locked inside and he just kept changing the price phoned them up I am waiting to hear back if I don’t tonight I will ring again tomorrow when challenged he said it’s vat and it was still going up this company needs to be shut down

I was under extreme stress with bailiffs at my property due to a malicious tenant. I called Sam Locksmith, who quoted £90 including VAT for a lock change. When the locksmith arrived, he quoted a completely different price and refused to honor the original quote. With bailiffs waiting, I had no choice but to pay £238.88.

This is misleading, exploitative, and completely unacceptable. Their office claims they only give estimates, but they sent someone who refused to stick to the original quote. I will be reporting this to Trading Standards. Avoid this company — they cannot be trusted, especially with vulnerable customers.

Terrible service. Told someone would arrive within half an hour but took way more than an hour. It was pouring with rain so not ideal.
Told the guy that my key was on the inside preventing me from being able to unlock from the outside he didn’t agree with me despite me saying I’m 100% sure that was the case, he didn’t try any non-destructive methods he said there is an issue with the lock and he has to drill through the barrel.
Once through, we could see that the key was on the inside of the lock as I had stated. This has happened to me in the past and Locksmith has been able to manoeuvre it out without breaking the lock barrel.
The guy then proceeded to charge me £89 for his labour, it literally took two minutes to drill through. And then wanted to charge me 125 for a new lock barrel, so I said no.
I’ve since phoned round other companies and they will charge similar amount for a lock barrel, but I refuse to give this company any more money What a terrible company.

Quoted £59 on the phone and said it would take 30 mins to get to me.

Took nearly an hour and a half to arrive, and then told me on the doorstep £165, even though I had been quoted £59... as I apparently have a high security lock...he managed to open it within less than a minute despite it supposedly being high security. I felt trapped as it was raining and I'm heavily pregnant and had been left waiting so long from the initial call.

Avoid at all costs.

If I could 0 stars I would. Initially told on the phone it’s £59 to unlock the door. When someone got here he tried to tell me it’s £59 call out charge (despite having ‘no call out fee’ written several times on the website) and £95 to actually unlock the door.
When I challenged this as said I would call a different locksmith, he told me my information would be sent round to all local locksmiths and no one would help me.
I started to call different companies and he realised I was not paying his ridiculous fee he said he would do it for the original quote of £59. Once he got in the door (which took less than 1 minute) he then told me it’s £59 +VAT and it’s my own fault as I should have cash on me.
I round the guy rude, patronising and a little threatening (this may be more so as I am a young girl on my own).

I can’t even rate them one star I called them out today and the quote they gave me over the phone was doubled when he arrived gave me a load of ballshit and said my locks was difficult locks and he can’t replace just the barrels I told him I’m not going to pay him the price he wanted because that’s not the price I was quoted he got very aggressive with me I told him to get out of my home he said no I want my money and I’ve travelled 50 miles to do your job I told him get out of my house now or I will call the police he said no I want my money and you can call the police I’m not going anywhere I was scared but I called the police they told me put him on the phone he was very calm when speaking to the police and denied being aggressive the police told him to get off my premises as the lady told you your not welcome there so he did go also he did not park his car outside my home in which there was plenty of space he parked his old car round the corner I did clock the car this company are scammers please read the reviews in which I never did I finally got a lovely English man locksmith well dressed and in a company vehicle took him 10 minutes because it was only the barrels that needed changing this foreign man tried to make a big job out of a simple job please do not use these people I’ve had a terrible experience today this company are scammers

If I could give 0 stars I would. It's not even the technicians on site, it's the whole business. This is a racket, pure and simple. Absolutely shocking service and exploitation of customers. Do not allow any of the (subcontracted) technicians to touch anything on your property until you have a full quote in hand.

Same story as everyone else, enticed in by a cheaper than normal quote, but ended up paying double that. The guy arrived on time and replaced our lock, so after querying the price I couldn’t really not pay him

Wish I’d read the reviews beforehand as they were totally right. I was given an estimate over the phone of £49 plus £29 for a new lock. When the engineer turned up they said the lock was high security and the cost would be £328. They only placed a temporary yale and couldn’t guarantee the lock would unlock again. They left a mess with all the drilling which I had to clear up.

0 Stars if possible. Absolute rip off after doing some more market research afterwards (was an emergency).

Same experience as everyone else, they give you a cheap estimate over the phone then charge you 8x the amount after.

Also guy turned up over 2 hours late and had a serious attitude problem.

Another victim here too. I cannot believe I didn't think to check the reviews before I called I am absolutely furious at myself.

After calling to get a quote I was quoted £59. I asked four times for clarification around the cost and whether this includes any call-out, etc. He was adament it was the cost and someone would be with me in 20 minutes. Almost one-hour later someone turned up at the door. He was polite at the start and then after trying the door said "the key is turned I will need to now charge you £89 to not break the lock". He said the £59 was a call-out and when I said "Oh that's not what I was told on the phone at all" he then became extrmely aggressive towards me and shouting at me outside my house. It was unfortunate that my husband wasn't with me as I don't believe he would have spoken to me in the same way.

I had no choice but to pay but I refused to pay before entry. This aggravated him more. Again more shouting at aggression towards me outside my front door. He them stomped off to his car, opened the door in less than 10 seconds and demanded I pay.

His card machine screen was broken but he showed me on a seperate phone that the charge was £89. The charge is pending as £89 but having now read other reviews I'm terrified that the charge is going to change before leaving the account.

A complete and utter scam.

Described the issue and told the cost was £59 labour for the lock replacement plus the price of the lock itself. Turned up late, drilled the lock and said the cost is now £139 for the labour only. I told him the bill was wrong and he simply said “I needed to use a drill which automatically put up your bill”. This exact tactic is mentioned in other reviews. Reporting to Trading Standard

He was obviously needed to use a drill to remove a lock, as per the conversation on the phone. They lie on the call and then bump the charge once on site

Another scam victim here! Told I would be charged £59 plus £25 for opening my door. They took a long time to arrive and then it took the locksmith less than 15 seconds to open my front door. He then held out the card machine, I tapped it gratefully and he left but I had a bad gut feeling after and checked my statement and they charged me £180.00! Now in a dispute claim investigation with my bank whilst chasing the locksmith for my money back.

I arranged for Samlocks to attend my property at 7:00 PM to inspect the front door lock, and I made a special trip to be there for the appointment. Shortly before the scheduled time, I received a call from the locksmith informing me that they had been diverted to another job due to a lockout emergency and would not arrive until 9:30 PM.

When I expressed that this was unacceptable and unprofessional—particularly as the appointment had been agreed in advance—I was met with defensiveness rather than an apology.

This level of service is completely unacceptable. If you are looking for a professional company that respects your time and honours agreed appointments, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere.
