We’ve just completed a hike tour on the MS Emanuel in a so called premier cabin. It seems to me we encountered a bait and switch marketing technique. The boats we saw online when booking were premier and premier plus boats. These were of a much higher standard than the downgraded version, the MS Emanuel. This boat more closely matches their standard level.
Specifically, the cabins pictured online were nothing like the one we ended up with.
Most people experienced poor sleep quality on this boat because the MS Emanuel is 70 years old and consequently the engine was very noisy. The engine started at somewhere between 6 and 7 a.m. most days. It was impossible to sleep through the noise.
In a number of ports the boat was rafted up with other boats including loud party boats, in the main I assume because it is usually used as a part boat. Nocturnal noise pollution could be extreme.
There was an issue with noise at both ends of the day. You would need to be deaf, or in one of the badly ventilated lower cabins, not to hear noise from adjacent boats, at night. In which case the engine and anchor related disruption would be louder in the morning. Additionally clothing, bedding etc would be wet because ventilation in the lower deck cabins was dreadful.
Cabins in general were not as depicted on line. They were cramped and badly laid out. As an example at night my husband’s head was about 5 foot from the toilet in cabin 17. When I complained about this on board the tour manager lied and told me this lay out was shown online. It isn’t.
Additionally the aircon in the cabin caused throat irritation, I imagine the aircon unit wasn’t well maintained.
The MS Emanuel is a ‘standard’ level boat which is mostly used as a party boat for 18 to 35s. Consequently, it is scruffy. The plastic loungers etc are in a bad state of disrepair.
If you want to go to Croatia I’d avoid this company. They appear to be unscrupulous and dishonest in their online practices. They allocate boats late and don’t adhere to their online description. I’d describe what they present online as blatant misrepresentation.
Other than that, I’d say the food we had was reasonably good, but no choices were offered. Drinks onboard were expensive.

Overall management of the boat by Sail Croatia was lack luster especially in the area of noise management.
Complaints weren’t managed at all.
The parent company suggested a 20% tip for staff … absolutely no one left that percentage. Nothing about the service warranted that tip.
Croatia is delightful, the other people on the boat were lovely and itinerary was good.
I’d advise using a the ferry to island hop the itinerary locations! The walks were easily located and well marked. You could look at the itinerary and do the whole thing independently without the bad boat experience.

While the Croatian itinerary itself was wonderful, our experience aboard the Mali Ante was disappointing and did not meet our expectations. The ship felt noticeably older and less well-maintained than many of the other vessels we saw in port. The jacuzzi was out of service for most of the trip, bathrooms leaked, and our lower-deck cabin was extremely noisy whenever the engines started. The lower cabins also felt very damp and humid throughout the cruise, making clothing, towels, and personal belongings feel moist. By the end of the trip, some of our clothing had developed a musty odor from the persistent dampness. There was no daily cabin cleaning service, and we found what appeared to be mold or mildew staining on our bedding, raising concerns about cleanliness and maintenance standards.

The dining experience was also underwhelming. Breakfast was available only from 8:00–9:00 a.m. Passengers were not allowed to bring their own snacks or drinks onboard, yet no complimentary snacks were provided between meals. On long sightseeing days, this felt unnecessarily restrictive. The food itself was average, drinks were expensive, and there were no happy-hour specials or other beverage promotions.

Another inconvenience was the amount of cash required throughout the trip. The onboard bar tab had to be settled in cash, and some excursions and activities also required cash payments. In an era when most travelers rely on credit cards and electronic payments, it would have been helpful if more payment options had been available.

The crew, however, were very friendly, hardworking, and always pleasant to interact with. Our concerns were not with the staff but with the condition of the ship, onboard policies, and overall guest experience.

Finally, the suggested gratuities felt excessive considering the condition of the ship, the limited amenities, and the overall level of service provided. While the destinations were beautiful and the crew did their best to make guests feel welcome, the combination of maintenance issues, damp lower-deck cabins, musty-smelling clothing, cleanliness concerns, restrictive food and beverage policies, expensive drinks, cash-payment requirements, and high tipping expectations left us feeling that the overall value did not match the price of the cruise. We have enjoyed other small-ship cruises in the past and found them to offer significantly better amenities, service, and guest experience.

My husband and I are extremely pleased with the experience, service, food, and staff. Sail Croatia provided an excellent service and a great holiday. For us it was a terrific week. The small boat size and number of passengers was great and we made many new friends that we will keep in touch with. The team on the boat as well as Dino who organised everything for the passengers - from planned to ad hoc were excellent. Food was always good, rooms and the rest of the ship were clean and tidy. Also the schedule of leisure time, sight seeing, and swim stops was perfect. We will be recommended Sail Croatia. Thank you for a terrific week.

Our group was the first to sail on Sail Croatia's newest catamaran, Valerie. The boat exceeded our expectations in every way. It was both spacious and well-appointed. The trip was made even more spectacular because of our crew. Our boat was skippered by Igor, who was extremely knowledgeable and who made our experience seamless. Our hostess, Dora, made great meals and provided great recommendations... both for places during our sailing adventure and for our travels in Croatia following our trip. When we book with Sail Croatia for our next adventure, we will be requesting the two of them, as they made our trip so very enjoyable.

The holiday was more than excellent. The boat was very clean and comfortable. The crew were exceptional being very helpful and friendly. The food was excellent and our chef was great. Our tour managers Tonka and Lucija were wonderful. I really liked story time with history of Croatia etc. They regularly updated us on the group Whatsup. I was pleased I changed to an E-bike a month before leaving as there were some long hills to climb. We had a great very friendly group. I would def recommend this bike boat trip with Sail Croatia to anyone. I love Croatia.

I meet great people, saw a lot of amazing places and things, the staff and the tour manager were very attentive and knowledgeable, the ship was well designed and comfortable. my cabin was quite, comfortable, and sized just right. The food and the service was very good and diverse. You will not be disappointed with Sail Croatia.

We had the best time ever aboard Seven, with the best captain, Mario was very knowledgable & took us to some wonderful places whilst keeping us safe, thank you Mario, see you again!

We enjoyed 7 days of beauty, history, hiking, and wonderful service! The staff of Salve di Mare were top notch. Markos, Vlaho, Julia, Nikos, Illona, the chef and sous chef were all extraordinary. They were friendly, attentive, and well-organized. The deck hands kept them ship shape, constantly cleaning or anticipating our next move. The daily breakfast buffet and 3-course lunch were top notch; thank goodness we were hiking so much. I recommend Sail Croatia's Luxury Hiking Cruise wholeheartedly. It more than met my expectations!

My family had three cabins on the ship for the week. We enjoyed it thoroughly! The ship was 100% clean, beautiful and well organized. The beds and linens, outstanding. The crew absolutely focused on exceeding expectations. The Chef and his assistant prepared delicious breakfasts and lunches. Captain’s dinner evening was exceptional, and they brought on board a great musician to entertain us. Everybody danced and had a ball! The swim stops were a blast. And each port showed us a different dimension of Croatia. My wife and I would take this cruise again in a heartbeat!

The entire experience was fabulous! The crew couldn’t have been any better. The food was delicious and the yacht was perfect. Our cruise director, Klara was incredible! All in all it was a top notch trip. I would highly recommend.

Had an amazing bike and sale trip with Sail Croatia in May 2026. Went with three other couples and enjoyed all that the trip offered. Great staff and guides and E bikes were amazing on those big climbs. Food was OK and efforts to help with my GF issues was taken care of very well. Would highly recommend using Sail Croatia for any biking enthusiast

We had a fabulous experience on the Romantic Star. Our Tour Director, Klara, made our trip wonderful. She organized wine tastings on every island. This was a magical way to experience the local culture and their food. We drank wine in bunkers left over from the Yugoslav military and quaint villages that produce everything from wine to meats and cheeses. The food on the ship was inventive and delicious. All of the servers and staff on the boat were friendly attentive. I was also impressed with our stateroom and the space it provided.

Our particular tour was a lively bunch from all parts of the world. We thoroughly enjoyed not only what the ship and tours at each stop had to offer, but the company was a welcome surprise! We highly recommend a sail with Sail Croatia. It was an awesome way to experience the best of Croatia!!

Having struggled over the last few years with what works for us as a holiday, my wife and I have bounced between exotic destinations and luxury beach holidays. We’ve found that neither are particularly fulfilling and, although we’ve always enjoyed ourselves, we feel that our experience has been lacking. We thought that we would leave our comfort zone by trying an activity holiday with a group of complete strangers. Having just finished a cruise with Sail Croatia, I can honestly say that, certainly for us, I feel that we’ve found what was missing. A holiday which was centred around our activity level but challenged us to push ourselves further. An experience which allowed us to form friendships with travellers from all over the world. A well led and curated cultural introduction, facilitated by guides (Marin & Olja) who love their country and job, while supporting their guests to bond, experience and enjoy their holiday.
We would definitely recommend this holiday, company and guides.

This bike / sail was recommended by my sister who did it two years ago with a group of friends. We are by no means active at home but wanted to challenge ourselves by doing something active and adventurous. I can seriously say this was one of the best experiences we have ever had. The guides Marin and Olja were just exceptional. They looked after the group like we were precious cargo, with lots of support and encouragement every day and loads of history and information given on every aspect of the trip. The bike rides were amazing, exhilarating and great fun. We chose e-bikes as did most of the group and there was a wide range of experience, from very little to very experienced cyclists on normal bikes, but we had no problems keeping up and no one held anyone back. We really enjoyed being part of a group. We got on so well and have made many new friends. Croatia is absolutely stunning. Every village, town or city we visited blew us away. The variety of terrain was really varied from mountains, forests, coastal paths, through wineries and forests. We have come home renewed with enthusiasm to get more exercise and we have now bought two e bikes. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough. It is not a luxury cruise, but it is great fun and loads of adventure.

We highly recommend this trip. It is superbly well organised, the guides and crew were lovely and the boat was fine.
The islands that we rode through were so beautiful and interesting. The bikes were sturdy and reliable and well serviced. I needed a smaller bike because I’m small and that was provided easily. All good. Lots of happy memories. Do it!

My husband and I were a little concerned as we hadn't ridden a bike for many years and we are both in our early 60's. We are fit and healthy and adventurous. We were also concerned we may be the eldest in the group and didnt want to hold anyone up on the bike rides.
We loved it. The E bikes made it so easy. The guides were fantastic and just so great at their jobs. so professional. We rode every day and are now going to book another E bike tour. We are hooked. All the other guests were around our age and we all had a ball. We definitely showed similar boats of younger ages that we can still party. The food was excellent. The rooms were great and the beds comfortable with our own ensuites. Each day when we were out riding the room fairy would prepare our room with fresh towels and ready for our return.
The only down side was the alcohol on board was very expensive and you cant take any on board.

travelled as a solo passenger but needn't have worried.
From the offset it was the friendliest group of passengers, staff and crew i have ever met.
The 2 Sail Croatia leaders, Josko and Lauren , were outstanding and nothing was too much trouble, managing to change my picky carnivorous diet to a vegetarian one after 2 days.
It was exactly the same with the crew of our boat, the Dionis, a very comfortable and ideally sized boat for the holiday- bigger boats around seemed too big and cold compared to the smaller boats.
The excursions and cycle routes were absolutely ideal. Most of our 15 passengers opted for the E-bikes but 4 of us had the normal calf powered versions, which didn’t detract from the enjoyment.
We had the chance to have a swim stop most days and after a chilly 10 minutes swim, the scorching onboard showers were a very pleasurable welcome experience.
This was my first time as a solo traveller on a group trip but i now see it as the only way forward in future

This was one of the best travel experiences of our lives. The boat was beautiful, the others travellers were great, the biking and scenery was spectacular and the guides and crew made every effort to make sure everything was excellent. Ivica was an excellent tour guide and made sure that we were all together and had exciting, enjoyable and safe bike rides. Ana made sure that no one was left behind and provided excellent information on the places we visited along with a few myths, legends and ghost stories😀. Ana and Dan (sp) were excellent bartenders and servers and made sure we stayed hydrated and were well fed. The food was excellent and we were served some traditional croatian food that was better than we had in restaurants on shore after our trip. My compliments to the chef!! We would definitely recommend this trip. Once you have tried a small boat experience you will not want to go back to the big cruise lines.

The crew aboard the Salve di Mare looked after us from start to finish with great attentiveness and humour. The boat was beautiful and spacious and I loved watching the skillful captain bringing us in and out of port. Wonderful food- (how do they do that in such a small kitchen)?! And of course, the spectaclar scenery of Croatia- crystal clear waters, majestic mountains and the idyllic port villages and towns. And finally a special mention for our hiking guide, Mate and our customer care and everything else, Sasa. Both were excellent at their job and looked after us very well and with great humour, which I loved. A wonderful experience and great memories made.
