Locked Out of My Own Financial Data Unless I Keep Paying
Used Reckon Accounts Personal for years to manage my finances, only to find that the moment my subscription expired, I was completely locked out of my own data.
You don’t just lose access to the software — you lose the ability to even view or export your own financial records unless you keep paying. There’s no read-only mode, no grace period, and no way to retrieve your data without renewing.
They claim you “own your data,” but in reality, you can’t access it without an active subscription. That’s not ownership — that’s dependency.
Would not recommend to anyone who values control over their own information.

Still no fix for cash flow problrm
Still fix for cash flow problem this person says I knew how to fix which is not true setting my computer date back to pre-January is not a fix to the program. Its a program Fault and it is now march and nothing has been done to fix it

NOT suitable for Australian Businesses
too may tax codes not relevant to australia- too complex for a simple bookkeeping software. not user friendly. cancelled trial within 10 mins. I dont care about USA tax codes or whatever. Why not make it simple like Xero - just need WITH GST and NO GST.

Reckon software is built specifically for Australian businesses and supports Australian GST and tax reporting requirements. The tax codes you’re seeing aren’t US-specific, but are designed to cater for a wide range of Australian business scenarios and compliance needs. We appreciate that, for some users, this can feel confusing or overly complex when you’re just looking for a simple “GST” or “No GST” option.
We’d genuinely value a bit more insight into which tax codes caused the confusion and what you were trying to achieve at the time. That feedback would help us understand where the experience didn’t meet expectations and where we can improve clarity or onboarding. The problem was difficult to resolve. However, the agents persevered until we were able to solve the underlying issue, preventing bank feeds from working correctly.

My perpetual reviews..Reckon Accounts Plus extortion.
My perpetual reviews..... Been using Quickbooks/Intuite/Reckon software for decades; until I upgraded to Reckon Accounts Plus in 2016 - then my "Perpetual" license was converted to "Extortion" version in 2021 when they refused to re-activate and wanted me to go subscription....
Thankfully, I use small program to by-pass their "activation" check and so far have managed to keep my "perpetual" Reckon Accounts Plus running on Windows 11 PC :)

We’ve already responded to this review in 2024, however we want to clarify a few points for anyone reading.
At no point has Reckon engaged in “extortion.” Reckon Accounts Plus transitioned from a perpetual licence to a subscription model as part of a clearly communicated product lifecycle change. This shift was necessary to support ongoing compatibility with modern operating systems, security requirements, and continued product maintenance and compliance. Activation of legacy perpetual licences was retired in line with those policies.
While we understand that this change was frustrating for some long-term customers, it was not targeted, arbitrary, or designed to force users into outcomes unfairly. Subscription pricing and licensing terms have always been transparent and optional, with customers free to choose whether to continue using supported versions of the software.
We also cannot support, endorse, or comment on the use of third-party tools to bypass software activation, as this falls outside our licence terms and supported use of the product.
We genuinely value the many years you used Reckon software and regret that the licensing transition did not meet your expectations. Our team remains available to discuss supported options should you wish to engage with us directly.
