***DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CARD DETAILS…
***DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CARD DETAILS OVER THE PHONE****
They kept my details including the 3 digit code without my knowledge and took an unauthorised £793.50 from my account.
They are listed as an Ariston preferred provider on the Ariston site. So I deemed them trustworthy. It was a mistake. I purchased a £126 brand new under sink water heater to replace a previous one. Same heater. It just stopped working. All the plumbing was in place. Straight swap. Cost? £991.50 - the engineer was wasting time on his phone, in his van for over 30mins, chatting about our personal photographs, tried to start other jobs, again on his phone. Had a coffee and chatted. Unnecessarily emptied a shed to turn off a tap. Asked for another coffee, sat watching water pour down a drain for 10mins instead of letting gravity do its job. Etc etc. until he had spent 4hrs on my property.
He demanded £793.50 (including £150 for a £4.95 pipe) before he left. He never informed my wife there was going to be an extra charge. I told her it was prepaid and I wasn’t at home. He refused to leave until he was paid leaving my wife incredibly intimidated and shaken. Given he had previously explained at length that he was trained in the army and which weapons he can shoot, you can understand why she was shaken. I told my wife to call the police, and the engineer said ‘you are speaking like this to the wrong person - just so you understand’ and it wasn’t in a friendly tone. I felt I was being robbed in my own home by a violent person who had my wife as hostage.
He eventually left. And then PHS Engineers took the full amount out of my account without my authorisation. £991 for a £126 small electric water heater swap. Every plumber I have spoken to since has said it’s a 30min job. Tops.
Most tradesmen in London are excellent professionals. PHS Engineers give these honest professionals a bad name.
****UPDATE****
The installation they completed nearly set fire to my house! The wiring was all wrong, so the plug and the socket caught fire and the has left a huge burn mark on the wall, we smelt it and dealt with it before any serious damage was done. The heater unit is fried so we have to start again. They should be struck off and, frankly prosecuted. My bank referred them to their serious fraud department for the unauthorised transaction and I received full compensation for the fraudulent charge, but it won't pay for the damage they did to my property. Absolute imbeciles.
Stay away
Stay away. These are con artists scamming and charging whatever they want. They are rude on the phone and know exactly what they are doing.
Not only did they not complete the works i called them out for, they then kept slapping us with additional charges for an hour of work.
I was contacting them for over a month with no response then got a debt collectors invoice sent to me.
Stay away no matter how desperate you are.

Avoid
Avoid, avoid, avoid, service very appalling, when it comes to outstanding money, very quick to communicate one way, couldn't recommend less. Can add big fat zero!
utter cowboys
utter cowboys. PHS Engineers are in hurry to take your money and in no hurry to fix your problem. Don't use them!
Strongly advise avoiding using them
Strongly advise avoiding using them. Bad service.
Worse than scammers
I strongly advise against using this company. They are worse than scammers. I received a quote for an annual gas safety check on a commercial oven and paid over £400. An engineer who appeared unwell came to the kitchen, and despite being there for over four hours, I felt he did nothing. He claimed to have fixed a gas leak, but I don't believe this since there have been no reports of a gas leak or any smells in our kitchen for the past 12 months.
He ended up charging over £1,000 for an additional three hours of work that were not previously agreed upon or mentioned in the quote. He insisted that he would not leave until the payment was made.
He said that the CO2 level in the kitchen is above the recommended level, so he wanted to shut down three burners and have some major work done including canopy alteration. He asked me if his company could handle the job. I found him very deceptive and felt like I had been conned. So, I said no thank you. I ended up paying over £1400 for an oven which I bought for about £840 about a couple of years ago. Please avoid using their services.

Avoid this company no matter how desperate you are , called them out at the weekend to fix an oven basically told them what the fault was but apparently the manual that came with the oven which shows all the fault codes was wrong but actually it wasn’t , the so called engineer Adam obviously didn’t have a clue and I had to pay £438 for that experience. Sent them a review still waiting for a reply . I finally got an engineer from Bolton to fix it and it took him 5 mins to find the fault and 20 mins to fix .
Stay away from PHS Engineers Ltd at all costs
Title Misleading Quoting, Overcharge & Unfair Refund Policy
Title: Misleading Quoting, Overcharge & Unfair Refund Policy
I had an extremely disappointing experience with PHS Engineers Ltd. I called on March 24, 2025, to book an engineer for a simple oven door issue. Over the phone, I was quoted £31 — a reasonable fee I agreed to. However, I was shocked to see that I had been charged £318 instead.
I immediately called back to cancel the booking and was told the refund would be processed by their Accounts team. I also followed up via email. Despite acting promptly, I received no formal acknowledgment, and days later I was informed that all bookings are non-refundable — even though no service was rendered and the charge was clearly made in error.
To make matters worse, when I requested to speak to a manager, I was refused their full name, and was told vaguely that there are multiple managers named Adrian and one named Adam. This lack of professionalism and transparency is unacceptable.
I've tried to resolve this amicably, but I feel completely let down. The company’s refusal to acknowledge a genuine misunderstanding or offer fair treatment leaves me with no choice but to escalate to Trading Standards and pursue a chargeback.
If you’re considering using this company, double-check every detail and be cautious — their policies seem heavily skewed against consumer fairness.

I had an extremely disappointing experience with this company. I paid £350 in advance to have my commercial fryer repaired, but the technician who arrived—an elderly gentleman—did not even touch the fryer. Instead, he spent most of his time on the phone, complaining about the safety of my kitchen equipment.
Rather than addressing the actual issue I had paid for, he pressured me to pay more money to fix unrelated problems in my kitchen. The service was unprofessional, rude, and misleading. To make matters worse, they charged me another £230 just two days later, which felt like a complete scam.
I strongly advise others to avoid this company—they are unreliable and seem more interested in extracting extra money than actually providing a proper service. Stay away!
Don’t use- total rib off!!!
Paid over £3000!!! Watch Don't Fall for It!
Paid over £3000 for a new manifold. Repeated failure to attend. Explanations and excuses. I am now paying extra just to get them to go away and will deal with the rest of the works another time.
I am not sure I have ever come across such bad service.
Do not touch this firm with a barnpole
Two so called engineers arrived one was Romanian who could not understand or speak English the other said he had very little experience of heat pump controls. They were here for 90 minutes and they had to use a translator device to speak to each other.
PHS engineering then took £365.00 from card for 90 min attendance. They must be stopped from trading as they are scammers.
I wish Id seen these reviews first
I wish Id seen these reviews first, but hind sight is always a great thing! This company is a complete rip off. An engineer came out, I was charged £238.00 for this, which included the first hour being free!! The engineer was there for a total of 1hr 35 mins, so £238 for 35mins. I believed this charge included looking at and testing the fridge but I was then charged an additional £300 for parts, which I was not told about at the time, I phoned and queried this to be told the engineer had used a valve and tested the gases.
The engineer told me that to repair the fridge would be a lot of money so the fridge was then condemned. Do not use this company, they charge the earth and its a complete rip off. this fee was on top of £318 that I paid on the phone when I booked them. So Total cost £875!!!
AVOID AT ALL COSTS
AVOID AT ALL COSTS! I had a breakdown of my commercial fridge & freezer and called these guys, thinking they were a reputable company and will fix my fridges urgently. Little did I know that they were accomplished con artists. All reviews below are true. They will charge you an extortionate call out fee, with the engineer spending less than 10 mins on the job (charging you for a full 1 hour) and will advise you that they do not hold the part so will have to order it. This might take 2 weeks if you are lucky. They will then present you with another invoice to come back and repair what you have already paid for, but will add another call out fee and associated charges. They will not fix until you have paid. I made the mistake of paying them. They then did the same again, "oh another part is defective (compressor), so will need to order that", and the cycle continues. I have been out of pocket by a considerable amount, eventually had to contact another company who fixed the problem within an hour of me calling them and resolved the problem - guess what - it was not a faulty compressor, but a capacitor, costing a few pounds! PLEASE AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!
WARNING
I engaged PHS Engineers for a project and was profoundly disappointed with their service and professionalism. Despite being contracted for specific works, they failed to complete the tasks they were employed to do. To add insult to injury, they invoiced for additional works that I had not authorised or requested.
When I challenged these extra charges, rather than seeking an amicable resolution, PHS Engineers resorted to legal action. This move forced me to spend a considerable amount of time preparing a response. Thankfully, the court ruled in my favour, but the whole ordeal was time-consuming and entirely unnecessary.
I caution anyone considering using PHS Engineers to be wary. Their approach to business and client relations left much to be desired in my experience. It's regrettable to have to leave such a review, but I believe it's important to share my experience to help others make informed decisions.
We paid for an expert and got an amateur AND our boiler is STILL broken!
If it were possible to add no stars I would. Our boiler broke down and the engineer had no idea what he was doing at all (a complete chancer). We are now out of pocket nearly £600 and we still don't have a working boiler. Don't use this company. You will pay for an expert and get an amateur.
Exceptionally unprofessional
As many others are saying, I had an exceptionally poor and unprofessional experience with PHS Engineers Ltd. They charge almost £400 for the first hour or part of then have the temerity to advertise 'No Call Out Charge!' like it's a good thing - or even true.
But I was kind of desperate so I went for it and the engineer was scheduled for early the next morning. I came in early especially to meet the guy but he didn't show up. I waited almost 40 minutes just to allow for late arrival but there was no sign so I contacted PHS. They said it was 'traffic' but that they'd contact the engineer to get an eta. Another 30+ minutes later, now 1hr20 after the scheduled time, they come back to say the engineer ran into 'issues' and will be with me in a 'few hours'. 5 hours later, he arrived. Absolutely zero word from engineer or from PHS in the mean time.
Then the guy spends less than 15 minutes looking at my faulty machinery and says, 'you need parts, we'll come back with a quote'. And then he's gone. £400, over 6 hours waiting, zero proactive communication and essentially no work done. I haven't heard from PHS since. So essentially they took the money, did next to nothing and ran.
It also turned out the the engineer did not work directly for PHS and was a local freelancer they hired for the job; so of course any attempt of mine to complain he kept telling me it's 'nothing to do with me - sort it out with the office'... and there's nothing I can do anyway because they take the payment up front.
Incredibly expensive. Exceptionally unprofessional. AVOID.
Company is a scam to get your money up…
Company is a scam to get your money up front for the visit (it's cost you 300+ for the privilege). They will then fade away after a few meaningless e-mails. Avoid at all costs it's a pure cash grab outfit. Google reviews all look fake.
