Not happy. Offered 8000 nectar points to take a policy which I needed anyway for our dog so I did. No points given, but must wait at least 90 days before querying which again I did. No points. Queried with numerous people, until told by the last one that no points will be credited as I did not input a promotional code! Can you make this stuff up? There was no code and they said after 74 days the code will have ‘expired’ so no points can be given! Wow, the extent of the deception is quite stunning and the lengths they are prepared to go to to enforce said scam is even worse.
Cannot recommend and will not be renewing. Go and take someone else.

This is quite the worse company service I think I have every experienced!! I took out pet insurance in good faith with Sainsbury's last year, not claims and renewed this year. Had my first claim which was a very straightforward claim as my dog had blown his eardrum, had to get his ears flushed and had a very unusual yeast infection, total cost approx £750. Sent everything off and the claim procedure was incredibly simple. However much to my extreme shock as I thought it was such a straightforward claim my claim was denied as my dog had an ear infection in 2023 and 2024 ,OVER TWO YEARS AGO!!! Then to add insult to injury they said they were adding a clause that I couldn't claim for anything connected to his ears moving forward.
I immediately contacted my vet who were equally shocked and said not only had both original infections entirely cleared up (they always do a follow up appointment post anti b's) but this was in fact a different ear (the two prior infections had both been the other ear) and a different bacteria found plus a burst ear drum. In other words not related whatsoever. They rang Sainsbury's to advise this and even put it in writing which I forwarded and I even pointed out to Sainsbury's that the Financial Ombudsmen had advised against this exact practice - trying to relate two scenarios when they are in fact not related at all but not only did they reject the claim again, they didn't even advise why they were choosing to ignore the vet's advice or answer any of my queries in my complaint. It is now with their customer service team who have not even acknowledged my email. In the meantime I'm down £750 since the end of August. I'm in the service industry, I also sell insurance as part of my service and would never ever ever recommend Sainsbury's pet insurance to anyone. In act the experience has so put me off moving forward I think I might just put some money aside each month in a high interest account instead!

I bought a policy on line in July and then they wanted vet records. which were sent and i have now chased this up twice to see what the issue is and if my dog is covered and they are still looking at it?? so 3 months of payments taken and i don't know if my dog is even fully covered. I would not of changed his policy from Tesco if i thought there would be any exclusions and i am still waiting to find out. Poor service but happy to take your money each month!

Useless and faceless. Avoid these clowns.

Set up pet insurance today for our border collie ziggy , very easy to understand, good value and choice of levels. Hope we don't have to claim and our boy keeps healthy . Liked that you can add more pets and we will receive a nectar point gift.

Absolutely the best service possible.
After our 3 month old Cockerpoo pup had an accident which broke his bottom jaw we had to take him straight to the vets to be sorted.
Sainsbury’s dealt directly with the vets and paid up with no fuss or palaver.
I was never contacted by Sainsbury’s re the cause of the accident, what happened or for any other information which I felt was amazing, they just got on with what a good insurance company should do.
Has he had only been insured a few days previous to the claim my first direct debit payment had not even been taken!!!!
Cannot praise this company enough.

The Sainsbury's corporate website contains inappropriate information and a HUGE mistake - and they simply don't care - don't touch them

I rang Sainsbury pet insurance and I had a lovely girl called Hayley, she was very friendly I understand everything she told me, very professional. I just want her to know how good she really is. Thank you Hayley you made it so easy to get the right outcome for me.

All so quick and easy. After having a shock seeing my doggie so ill having to have an operation feelings were heightened, but Sainsbury’s pet insurance made claiming ever so easy and everything was seamless, taking the stress out of the experience. Thankyou it was one less stress to think about.

The process was very simple to claim for an injury to my cat. The vets could liaise directly with them, taking away any of the hassle for me and payment made quite quickly, directly to our vets. It was the first time we had claimed and I was very pleased with the smooth process and fairly quick payment.

Sainsbury’s kept me updated too, throughout.

Had taken our 9 year old cockapoo to her normal vets because she'd stopped eating and was lethargic, after x-ray and antibiotics, she became worse,took her to an out of hours emergency vet ,they found she'd got a spleanic tumour, which had ruptured, she showed no pain (also known as a silent killer,)she was put to sleep,sainsbury's pet insurance dealt with to different vet practices covering this claim, in this sad time could not of asked for a better service I received from them .5 STARS

Excellent service. Making a claim was very straightforward. All I needed was the vet's invoice. Settlement was in my bank within days. Highly recommend.

I am really impressed with Sainsbury's pet insurance, my claim couldn't have been any easier from my experiences with other pet insurance companies. I didn't have to do anything other than give my vet my policy number and to tell them to use Pawtal. I received notification that they had received my claim and claim was settled in 5-7 days along with notification. 5 stars.

Absolutely shocking service. Sainsbury’s Pet Insurance has been nothing but frustrating to deal with — poor communication, lack of accountability, and completely unacceptable customer service.

When people are dealing with the stress of looking after their pets, the last thing they need is to be messed around and treated like an inconvenience. This experience has been a complete letdown and far below what anyone would expect from a company of this size.

Avoid if you value your time, money, and peace of mind.

Would not even give them a 1 star if I had a choice.

Quick turn around, easy to navigate

Easy process to claim, didn't take them long at all to review and accept the 2 claims I put in from our regular vet and the emergency vet. Claim was paid promptly with only £35 disallowed what the emergency vets had charged in admin fees. Very pleased overall

I was really not expecting to be paid out as the terms and conditions of my policy is that to pay out for a claim on dental my cat was required to have annual check ups, and as she hadn't had a vet visit since 2023, I was not optimistic. However after explaining that my cat was semi feral when I rescued her in 2020 and that in the almost 6 years that I have had her she still does not allow me to lift her. On the one occasion that I did successfully trap her it caused so much trauma (to all of us!) that I have avoided vet visits unless absolutely vital because being an indoor cat she is in no mortal danger. To my utmost surprise Sainsburys Pet Portal agreed to pay out, and I was extremely grateful for their excellent service.

First time I have needed to make a claim for my beautiful Tigger, he's had 14 teeth out and making a claim for his vets fees was really easy. It was paid quickly + without any fuss so I'm really happy with the whole process. Would definitely recommend Sainsbury's Pet Insurance to anyone looking for good cover at a reasonable price 👍
