PAWS Therapy Dog & Assistance Dog Training Anmeldelser 

Have been working with PAWS to get our school therapy dog through his training. The online training has been so useful and our trainer is always at hand to help us when we hit any obstacles with great support and advice.

I’m new to working with PAWS to train my dog to be an assistance dog for me. So far it’s been incredible. High level of support already and I now have the confidence and ability to carry out the training knowing they are behind me

I joined PAWS because I was working in an SEMH secondary school and saw the challenges both teachers and students were facing. My dog had given me a lot of joy and often talking about him or their pets calmed the students. When I lost him, I thought I could do something more with my next dog and that maybe they could also help my students.

I was hoping by starting the course I could train my dog to go to work with me and support the children I worked with. Initially with regulation but also by bringing joy and encouraging learning, in a way they may not instantly see as learning.

I have found that life has gotten in the way at times, but the fact I can dip in and out if training and supervision is really useful. The community also means you can ask questions and share advice with like minded people.

I don’t think it’s always possible to fully explain the difference a programme like PAWS makes. However when a non verbal child talks for the first time, or a shy ASD young person takes part in a social event, or the child that hates reading and says they can’t do it, quietly reads a story aloud, because your dog has supported them to do so. That makes a world of difference to them, their families, key adults and you!

If you have thought about joining the PAWS programme and are not sure, just do it. You can take it at your pace and will learn so much and eventually benefit so many people, it is totally worth it.

Relatively new to the paws training scheme, however I've learnt so much already from the one to one sessions, weekly group sessions and advice from he community Facebook page. Looking forward to the rest of our journey, would highly recommend.

I have been on this journey with Paws for a few years, working to have my dog Raven certified as my Assistance Dog. The amount of knowledge and training tools is fantastic, they are always there to offer support, encouragement and advise. The 1:1 calls with my trainer are so valuable and our confidence as a team has grown greatly.

I have loved working to complete the paws therapy dog program, I have learnt so much about dog body language dog training and dogs behaviour. The information is very helpful to help you understand and progress towards your own goals.

Myself and my furbaby joined paws over 2 years ago, best decision ever, the programme has everything you need and i still use the modules in school with Lola. The impact Lola has made in school has been life changing for some of our pupils, I love working as a team in school with Lola and paws gave me the tools to do this safely . The communication and professional support with PAWS therapy is phenomenal. I have really enjoyed being enrolled on the certification programme and I could not be any more supported by the PAWs team. The supervisions are excellent and give you a really good opportunity to speak to a member of staff and ask any questions you might have. The content of the course is well written and really easy to navigate. The modules are interesting and informative. One thing I really love about this course is the flexibility and being able to pick up where you left off and very user friendly. The resources included within the program is also really helpful and useful, such as activity ideas, tips and suggestions. The templates provided for risk assessments and policies are also really useful too. I can not recommend this programme enough!

You feel a part of an incredibly supportive community. The empathy, understanding and support is second to none. They understand like gets in the way, and that's ok. You never feel pressured. Highly recommend

BEWARE- I paid over £2500, 2 years ago and my calm natured Labrador retriever is still not a qualified therapy dog with PAWS. Loads of hidden cost and very little support. I would not recommend.

Then I got Bailey, who along with the wonderful help and support of the Paws team have given me the confidence to go out again. They have helped me teach Bailey how to support me with such things as emptying the washing machine and picking up drop objects. Thank you Paws

The PAWS team are wonderfully supportive with an unfathomable depth of knowledge and experience. PAWS has set us up for success with regular guidance, 1:1 support and video conference calls through each developmental stage & challenge of learning new skills through positive, reinforcement training. We are so very thankful we chose PAWS and highly recommend them.

The PAWS team are amazing. Not only are they so supportive of the people on the course, but the well being of the dogs is always put first. All feedback and advice given is in a positive format. The understanding and adaptions made for neurodiversity and all disabilities is fantastic. I thought I knew quite a lot about dogs before I started this course, but I have learnt so much, both in terms of training and reading dog body language and meeting their needs. Most contact with mentors on the basic package is online, but I still feel like they know us really well and when we meet in person it doesn’t feel like the first time we’ve met. I 100% recommend this course. It has made so much difference to my autistic son.

I am now in my 2nd year of training with PAWS with my Assistance Dog in Training Louie. I highly recommend PAWS, their enthusiasm to help at all stages and beyond. They are a fingertip away when things are just not working, PAWS has a fast array of friendly trainers who can give professional advice and stear you in the right direction with 4 zoom calls a week with support for everyone and the hands on training sessions to prepare for the 3 levels if assessments so no one is left behind. You go at your pace and dogs pace but given professional guidance however you and your dog are doing.
DO IT sign up NOW you will not regret it.

I’m currently working through the PAWS programme with my cocker spaniel, Betty, and have found it incredibly insightful and informative. The course has given me a much better understanding of what will be expected of Betty as a therapy dog, while keeping welfare, safety and best practice at the heart of everything.

Although we’re still on our journey and haven’t fully started working with clients yet, I already feel much more confident about preparing for the role. The resources are easy to follow, well thought out and have really helped me appreciate the importance of introducing a therapy dog in a responsible and professional way.

I’m looking forward to continuing our journey together and would happily recommend the PAWS programme to anyone considering therapy dog work.

Such a wonderful community of mentors and fellow students who are passionate about learning how to train their dogs to become their assistant dogs. Training is explained by their wonderful teachers/mentors and when we do assessments it’s welcoming and supportive.

Absolutely loving the journey with PAWS!! The training videos, Facebook group and online support is so helpful and has really helped our journey go smoothly so far! I’ve loved the in person support sessions and just hearing other people struggle with adolescent dogs makes me feel less alone during the harder times! I cannot wait for our journey to carry on and improve with PAWS

We are absolutely loving our paws journey! The online sessions, Facebook groups, handlers are fantastic and so knowledgeable! Ronnie is loved so much in our school and even now on the start of our journey he is a big part of childrens life at Girnhill!

Really pleased with the guidance and support we have received at my school as one of our Teachijg Assistants and I have been learning and training alongside my beautiful labradoodle Bella-the-dog. Rachel (who’s visited school as our linked trainer) has been wonderful and really helped us work through how Bella can be a useful team member and how our staff and students need to be around Bella to ensure she’s comfortable and happy in school.
Another school in our Trust asked for my advice on bringing in a dog to their team and I have recommended PAWS to them.
