Outpost helped to make my relocation from another state very smooth. My apartment had everything I needed. The room was fully furnished. They even provide a cleaning every month!! And the cherry on a pie that I met a lot of amazing people (my roommates)

I’m currently living at Bedford House…
I’m currently living at Bedford House and I really like my room and the apartment. It has everything I need for comfortable living. The kitchen is fully equipped, including a coffee machine and a toaster. There’s a cozy balcony and rooftop access where you can spend time and relax. I also really like the digital lock - I didn’t know about this type of lock before.

I stayed at Outpost last month
I stayed at Outpost last month, and overall it was a really solid experience. The community vibe was definitely the best part. I met some great people working on interesting projects, and the common areas made it easy to connect without anything feeling forced. The only downside was the morning coffee rush because it gets a bit chaotic when everyone is trying to caffeinate at the same time.

Misleading Process and Poor Handling - Beware!
Their "no-obligation" application process is a sham.
Only after a $20 fee and approval can you actually see the room and review the contract, which is fine. But they also require a full month’s deposit upfront, which they say is refundable if you choose not to proceed.
Since I hadn’t moved yet, I asked for real photos of the room after being approved. Thank goodness I did! The room looked nothing like the photos online. It had no windows, was extremely small, squeezed between two other rooms, and directly opposite a bathroom.
When I decided not to go ahead, they refunded $1,790, even though I had paid $1,842.65. They blamed and sent me to my bank and Stripe. For obvious reasons, both needed the original receipt showing the intended charge amount, not the refund receipt. Outpost's team couldn't understand the difference and refused to give me the original invoice or receipt, which was sitting in their application portal that I no longer had access to.
As you can imagine, both the bank and Stripe confirmed that payments are processed exactly as instructed by Outpost as the merchant, with no extra fees, and Outpost are in complete control of the refund amount.
The team were completely clueless about their own billing and refund process and just left me without my full deposit in the end. I would strongly advise others — especially those relocating from abroad — to be very cautious, and avoid adding this unnecessary stress to your already tricky moving situation.

For the safety and privacy of our current residents, full room photos and lease documents are provided only after the standard application and ID verification, which is covered by the $20 fee. This step is meant to keep the process low-commitment while still maintaining necessary security.
Regarding your deposit, the full refund was issued on our end. Any difference in the amount received is typically due to bank or payment processor fees or currency adjustments—factors outside of our control. We are always happy to provide all documentation available to assist with your bank’s review.
I lived at Fort Greene House for about…
I lived at Fort Greene House for about seven months in an economy room that cost $1690 a month. The place was always clean and quiet, and everything was pretty well organized. My room was small but had what I needed, and the shared spaces were kept in good shape. There was even a little gym in the building, which I actually used a few times. The only thing I didn’t love was that the washer and dryer weren’t free, but overall it was a comfortable and easy place to live.

Great housing experience during my NYC internship
I stayed with Outpost during my internship in New York and had a very positive experience. Avoid at all costs. Multiple Issues.
I highly recommend not using Outpost. There is a risk that things are not ideal and then you will be completely stuck. Here is my experience:
My room is nothing like the pictures advertised. It feels like a crack den. Unfortunately, the rest of the housemates also discovered this too late for their own rooms.
They took 2 weeks to decide to relocate me under the condition I clean the room I'm relocating to, then told me I can't relocate because my stay is no longer long enough anymore...
My room is also right beside the central AC and is absolutely freezing all the time.
There is no window, just a shutter that is on the ceiling that I can't reach (I'm 6'2") and won't move anyways.
I was also overcharged $400 by mistake and now I'm 2 weeks trying to get the overcharge back.
I wish I could share pictures of how bad the situation I'm in.

It’s nice
It’s nice, but a little overpriced in my opinion for a 10-bed apartment even for bedroom with balcony access. Other than that, I pleased with the room and appearance of the place–everything looks updated and there’s laundry in the basement and a rooftop.

Luigi & Ivan are the dream team for maintenance! I had an issue with washing machine, and they showed up the same day to try to fix the problem. Turned out a new part needed to be ordered.. I was expecting at least a week wait time. However, the part was delivered within 4 days and my washing machine was working that day! Thank you for the quick and reliable service.

Greenpoint was perfect for me, quiet, tidy, and I had enough space to recharge. The house has a relaxed atmosphere and respectful roommates. I’d recommend it to anyone who values privacy but doesn’t want to live totally alone.
