Good service... Fabulous rates on offer... Delivered what was committed. The area of improvement can be getting a little more technology involved while submitting the documents.

Excellent service

Sold few unused USD from my foreign trip. The process was very convenient and smooth. Currency was picked up from home and amount credited into my account as per the mentioned timelines. Excellent service by Whitefield branch.

Four Months and counting for a simple…

Four Months and counting for a simple refund of card balance.

I requested a refund of the balance amount on my Forex card issued by Thomas cook, via Orient Exchange, Trivandrum, on 05.01.2026.

Initially, the Manager(Mr. Manoj) told me this is very straightforward but since my card's validity had expired, he asked me to wait for a couple of days, but assured me it will be sorted as soon as possible.

After few days, when I asked, he said this is Thomas Cook's problem and that I had to contact them. After a few visits to Thomas Cook and Orient exchange offices, he finally accepted my request and promised to process my refund in two weeks' time on 09.01.2026.

When I asked again on 27.01.2026, they said all the technical issues were sorted and that money will be processed into my account by end of that week.

Further to that, there was no response/update from Orient's team, finally when I contacted them again in April, they replied and said all the balance amount on my account was debited by Thomas cook on 10.01.2026.!!(This is literally the next day after I left my card with the staff)

I am an NRI, and hence could not chase them regularly due to work commitments, time difference etc, but I had asked the team to contact me on my whatsapp with updates and they agreed. When asked, why they withheld this information from me for so long, the manager said he did not save my contact.!! Talk about communication skills.!

I did not understand why they lied to me for all this time, that my refund will be processed, when they very well knew the balance was not there anymore.

So, I contacted Thomas Cook customer support team regarding this and they confirmed the balance should be refunded to me and instructed Orient's team to process this asap and keep the customer informed.

Despite multiple emails from Thomas Cook, Orient exchange still have not taken any action to resolve the matter or get in touch with me.

This whole company and their franchises seem highly unprofessional, anyone who deals with them will suffer mental agony and financial losses. Instead of providing a prompt and effective resolutions, they mislead customers and keep them in the dark for long time.

Incorrect Passport number on purchase currency receipt


Subject: Urgent - Incorrect Passport Number on Currency Purchase Receipt | Request Correction

Dear Sir/Madam,

I recently purchased foreign currency from your branch. Your staff entered my passport number incorrectly on the receipt.

I noticed the error immediately and informed your team. I requested you to correct the passport number and resend the updated receipt by return mail. However, I have not received any response yet.

This is an urgent matter as the receipt with the correct passport number is required for my records. Kindly rectify the passport number and email me the corrected receipt at the earliest.

Please treat this on priority and confirm once corrected.

Very easy to navigate and understand…

Very easy to navigate and understand the exchange rates and taxes, also door step delivery is a boon to people who cannot step out to the agency directly to convert the currency. Door step delivery is hassle free and very easy process and don't have to worry about getting late for conversion.
