Hi Ashley, your policy is a 12 month subscription and it works on a month to month basis, giving you the freedom to amend your cover at any time during your policy period. This is something not possible with most other insurers.

Be Careful
I had no problem communicating with this company. I don’t use telephones and my emails were answered promptly.
The surprise came when my vet found that there is something wrong with my dog’s liver. I started an insurance claim and it was refused as a pre-existing condition. It turns out that this company can go back 24 months before the insurance policy even started. Suspicious: there’s only one reason for an insurance company to go back 2 years! And if they find anything, “diagnosed or undiagnosed,” then that is reason enough for them to reject the claim.
I cancelled the policy the next day.
My dog arrived last July, and has no medical records at all before that, so the refusal was based on assumptions and suppositions.
With this idea of going back over 24 months, and the “diagnosed or undiagnosed” part, they could easily reject just about any claim.
So, be careful, don’t get caught out like I was.

We’d like to clarify that under our policy, a pre-existing condition is any condition that showed signs or symptoms in the 24 months before the policy start date, or within the waiting period. This isn’t unique to Only Paws; it’s standard across the pet insurance industry, in fact a lot of companies won't cover for any condition noted prior to your policy start date. When assessing a claim, our team reviews the full clinical history provided by you and your vet to understand when symptoms first appeared.
We do offer an appeals process if you believe the decision is incorrect.

We do offer a callback service for all our customers. Simply send us a short email requesting a call and let us know a convenient time, and we’ll contact you during our opening hours of 8am–5pm, Monday to Friday. If needed, we can usually call back within the hour.
I can see that you emailed us on Wednesday evening to let us know that your beloved cat had sadly passed away. We cancelled the policy first thing on Thursday morning and sent you an email to confirm this.

Feels like I'm being taken for a fool.
I have paid regularly for a couple of years now without needing to claim. Recently I have put 2 claims in and have received a pathetic refund on both. It makes me wonder why I pay for insurance when the only people benefitting are you. I would be interested to know why you think I should continue with this policy.

Repeat medication not refunded …
My cat is now diabetic and needs insuline shots twice a day . The. First claim I submitted to get my money back went through but when I submitted the next claim for the insulin repeat I was told I would not be able to claim for it anymore as I did not add a specific health boost to my cover. I was not pleased at all as last year when I called their customer services to understand why they did not refund me painkillers prescribed to my dog who had a Tumor removed the operator who dealt with me reassured me that repeat medication for life threatening illnesses would be refunded even I did not get their health boost -reason I never took it, as I I understood this health boost was only beneficial for medication such as painkillers which are not often prescribed. In addition , Only Paws are are very slow to process claims too

To clarify, if a policy is upgraded and a Booster added, the higher level of cover applies only to new conditions. Any conditions that existed before the upgrade will continue to be covered under the original policy terms.
Regarding your claim, we understand how delays can cause concern. In your case, there was a delay as we were waiting on information from your vets. Once we received the necessary documents, your claim was processed within 2 working days. Our claim turnaround is super speedy once all relevant documents are provided, and we’re continually working to keep things moving as quickly as possible.

Do not insure you pet with this company, they will simply do whatever they can not to reimburse you when a claim is made, was lead on by reviews it is a great option for our dog Lola a few years back now. First claim we have ever made on Lola and a cheap one at that £32, not only did they refuse to pay any because of deductions but they put our policy up 35% claiming she is a different breed to what she is. Customer service didn't care one bit, just goes to show, better off honestly after 12 years just putting the money monthly into an investment and using if ever needed. I fully understand there's an excess, that wasn't the issue, you deducted for lab tests but of a joke if you ask me. Her breed hasn't changed bed in 12 years but all the sudden you can decide she isn't a Montreal but now she's a Jack Russel but she couldn't be this when I took out the policy. The irony
