I went through Full Truckload with ODFL and they worked with a 3rd party shipper to ship my product to my customer. My product was shipped with no damages, however the driver ran over a stop sign and damaged my client’s property. Both ODFL and the 3rd party shipper are refusing to pay for the damages and are refusing to provide insurance information for myself and my client to create a claim. What’s the point of getting insurance on a freight load if the shipping company is refusing to pay it or provide insurance information so that my client can file a claim? I was told the driver does want to “increase” his insurance and to cross my fingers that the driver responds to me.

I had a very disappointing experience with Old Dominion Freight Line regarding a damaged freight shipment. They mishandled my claim, misapplied their own tariff policy, and ultimately refused to take responsibility for damage that clearly occurred while the freight was in their care.

ODFL handled both the original shipment of a condenser unit to my business and the follow-up shipment I arranged back to the supplier. The equipment was picked up in perfect condition — fully packaged, undamaged, and documented with photos. When it arrived at the destination, the receiving warehouse immediately noticed visible damage and notified the ODFL driver on site, who acknowledged the damage before the freight was offloaded.

Despite clear evidence, photos, and proof that ODFL handled both legs of the shipment, their claims representative cited a tariff clause that does not apply in my case and offered just $0.10 per pound — a token amount that fails to cover even a fraction of the loss. When I explained the error and submitted supporting documents, the representative refused to acknowledge any wrongdoing and threatened to close the claim if I didn’t accept the low payout.

I have since filed complaints with ODFL’s HR and Compliance departments, as well as with federal regulators. Unfortunately, this experience has shown me that ODFL is not committed to resolving issues fairly or honoring their responsibilities as a carrier.

I would strongly caution others to be careful when shipping valuable or sensitive freight through ODFL — especially if you expect proper claim handling in the event of damage.

I recently had a shipment delivered by Old Dominion Shipping in Roanoke, VA, and the experience was excellent from start to finish. The delivery was right on time, which is always appreciated when coordinating shipments.

What stood out the most was the professionalism and courtesy of the driver. They went above and beyond to ensure that I was satisfied with both the delivery process and the condition of the shipped item. The driver took the time to check that everything arrived in good shape and made sure I had no concerns before leaving. That level of attention and customer service makes a real difference.

Overall, I would highly recommend Old Dominion Shipping for their reliability and the exceptional service provided by their team.

Worst service ever. They damaged my commercial equipment and tried to say it was the shippers fault.
