The order was 11.80 but my credit card got charged 21.80. And worst of all, the order was canceled and I haven’t received a refund

Awful service that causes a lot of hassle.

Firstly, my original order, which was confirmed to be delivered by Mercato, was not in fact delivered.
Mercato assured me it was dropped off with the doorman here, which was not the case. After a lot of hassle to find out that this was not true, they then tried to blame that the shop that the order was picked up from made the mistake (even though Mercator confirmed it was dropped off).

THEN, they refunded me to order again but the same order cost me an additional 20 dollars. To save more hassle, I just went ahead with it.

NOW, the order arrived, but instead of 6x 12 packs of soda that I ordered, they delivered 6 single bottles in a bag.

When I called them to question them on it, suddenly their “system was down”.

Mercato is a scam and you should avoid it like the plague.

I ordered from Mercato this week again after they gave me a small credit for an entire order that was canceled last week (my review is posted below). This week I ordered from Raffetos, trying to give Mercato another try. Only half the Raffeto's order was delivered - they canceled three items without contacting me and the quantity of two other items was either significantly reduced or more than I ordered. Obviously, my experience last week was not an anomoly. Mercato has very poor quality control and they clearly don't care about the impact on their customers. I recommend avoiding ordering from them lest you have my experience.

I order from Mercato at least once a week. So many great stores to shop from and service and delivery are always excellent. I really don't know what I would do without them.

Thank you Mercato for the variety of stores, great customer service, reliable delivery, appreciative promos and the convenience which helps more than one would first think until you realize how important it is.

I will never use this company called Mercato if something wrong with your order they will side with the merchant not the valued customers. I had bought meats from a store using this service. And the product came expired or bad. They sided with the merchant and never got a refund. Beware valued customers.

Thank you. You delivered as promised and you are a keeper. Due to a semantics miscommunication, I called your service to have these products delivered as directed again. Fortunately, we found out that someone had sent me some flowers, totally unexpectedly. My doorman [security personnel] told me that my delivery had arrived. Turned out the delivery received was unexpected flowers. Your Customer Service gentleman was excellent, patient and understanding as he attempted to resolve a problem that didn't need a resolution, unbeknownst to him. He was ready to contact your delivery person when I discovered, it was the delivery of flowers not your groceries. The groceries are fresh, service from all excellent and exceeded my expectations. I say thanks to all involved.

They made getting Japanese essentials such as chili oil and kombu and bonito flakes easy. I even got good pickled ginger for my rice. This was critical during the pandemic.

Do not buy from this site! They show a price of $4.99 for a can of bathroom cleaner. Factoring in $20 for delivery, I decided to buy 6 cans to make the purchase worth it since my local retailers no longer carry this product. I indicated that I didn’t want a substitute product if my selection was unavailable. My order came to $50.39 by the time they added lots of other charges, but for 6 cans, it was still less than the per unit price at Amazon. The order arrived on time, however I only received 3 cans. And an adjusted charge of $34.14 - over $11 a can! I believe I should have received an email asking if I still wanted to make this purchase! How do I know this is a scam site: I went back to the site and it appears that I would be able to purchase at least 3 more cans of the same product. I’ll be contacting my credit card company about this purchase. I would advise others to save themselves the trouble and shop elsewhere.

8/13/20 Update:
Please don't be fooled by Mercato's response to me. I sent the email as their rep instructed. Never heard back from them. And, yes, I checked my Spam folder before writing this.

HORRIBLE DELIVERY SERVICE. THEY NEVER SHOW UP YET THEY SAY THEY DELIVER TO ME. RIDICULOUS. AND MANAGEMENT WILL NOT COMMUNICATE WITH YOU.

Mercato is of course legit, huge inventory and competitive prices. Here in NYC, there's tons of vendors who (crucially) are engaged with mercato, keep their inventory up to date, call when there's a problem etc. I've used mercato online chat to resolve service issues and it's been a quick and easy process every time. I upgraded to mercato green program and moved a bunch of my buying from Amazon.

Mercato charged my card for membership automatically and would not refund the money the same day even though I do not use the service anymore. I did use them during the pandemic and it worked out. I think it is greedy to charge someone $100 automatically and not refund it when asked. Another tale of corporate greed. Update- reached out to Mercato to get things fixed and they asked for our account information/email and after emailing them back have still not issued a refund or have said they would. You think they would really want to offer service after the posted response below. Guess not.

Placed an order and they canceled it an hour later.
Bait and switch tactics.
Untrustworthy source of shopping.

Redemption.... I appreciate Mercato finally making it right. I wrote a review six days ago when I didn’t receive my order. I appreciate the compensation but recommend you actually call your customer with a complaint instead of going back and forth on email. I might consider a second chance?

Beat the Amazonification of Urban America by using Mercato!

This company and its services allows you to source your favorite groceries from stores in your own neighborhood vs relying on Bezos Inc. for everything.

I used Mercato during the height of the Pandemic and it was a great experience. Sometimes I would not get the items I wanted but I always good cool substitutions. Sometimes I even stumbled into other brands during the substitutions.

The Customer Support is super responsive and when I accidentally forgot to pause my subscription, they refunded it with 0 haggle.

Impossible to reorder as the system puts you into a loop

Absolutely one of the best options that has become available since the onset of COVID. I honestly prefer this shopping option which is affordable, effective, safe and reliable - and has the finest customer support.

I have had really great experiences with Mercato. I can pick smaller stores that I already know and like, or try out new ones; and order from more than one of the stores they represent and get it all in one delivery, love that. Nice range of stores: groceries, butchers, fish market, produce, even a bakery. Great customer service, too. I emailed a problem (my mistake, not theirs) and they got back within minutes!

I’m really happy with your service and with that of the market, Deep Roots. Thank you for being there, doing what you do . . . and . . . for both Mercado and Deep Roots for taking care of our needs so easily.

Ordering from Mercato was not easy. I was inundated with free delivery pop-ups and such which is not available in my area code. So I selected an area code of my spouses work that they say they deliver to on the web site, but don't deliver their ether. Also tried chat to see how the order and confirm timing of the order and was told I needed to call the local distributor. I did and they sent me back to Mercato. Spent way too much time ordering something on line, and then having to select a time to pick up, when I could have simply gone to the local outlet anytime and bought it.
