Easy, fast and convenient.

Hi, we are customers at Mariner Finance in Springfield Ohio. I messed up when I paid my payment. I thought I was paying a different payment because they're so similar and cost and I paid Mariner twice which therefore would mess up my checking account. I called Mariner and spoke with Beth. I was told that they could not refund the money back to my checking. They could not write me a check to cover the extra payment and she said, but the good news is you won't owe a payment till October so tell me how is that good news for someone who lives on a fixed income and has a payment that's gonna come out of their checking that they don't have the money money to cover. I felt no empathy or understanding from them. I recommend that you not get alone from them because they don't care about the customer or the customer situation they only care about the money.

I have an account with Mariner Finance (MF) and each month I call in an make my payment in the amount of $161.00. During the month of August 2026 MF removed $1161.00 from my account. This caused my account to be overdrawn and has caused me bank fees. I reached out to MF and although they admitted to making the error, MF told me in order to get my funds returned to my account, I would have to go to my bank and get proof that the account is mine and that the money was taken from my account. I saw this as more, ongoing humiliation from MF and I refuse to allow MF to humiliate me any further. I went to my bank and the only thing they can do is start an investigation. The investigation will take up to 45 days. In the meantime, my account remains overdrawn. When my employer deposits my weekly paycheck into my account, the bank will remove the overdraft funds out of my account, which means the bank will get their money, but I will still be out of funds until MF puts the funds back. MF has caused me financial hardship and they do not care. Why can't MF return my money without me having to prove it is my account. I did not provide any documentation that allowed MF to take my money. Why can't MF just return my money. I will advise anyone dealing with MF that this could happen to you. MF can make a grave financial mistake that hurts you financially and they make no attempt to make it right. Once the bank's investigation is over and the funds are credited back to my account, I will settle and end my business with MF. Their mistake have caused me, not them. GB

I am writing on behalf of my 89 year old father. I became my father's Power of Attorney after he obtained a loan from Mariner. I discovered that my dad was told that he needed to make monthly payments no later than the 16th. He had written on the back of the loan agreement envelope "must pay bill monthly by 16th." I asked my father if he received monthly invoices in the mail... he stated "no". I called Mariner and asked if they could mail monthly invoices. I was told that they do not mail monthly invoices. I asked why not? The gentleman stated, "we have too many customers, and that it's too time consuming. Then I asked if he could send a copy of the statement showing all transactions from the inception of the loan to-date, which he stated yes. My father received the history of payments. I noticed at least 10 late payment charges on the statement. I concluded that those late payments were made; one, because a monthly invoice was not sent, showing the monthly amount owed and the "pay by due date". This is design to make money off the venerable (i.e., elderly). Since I'm in charge of paying my father's bills, I will make sure the loan is paid off and will not recommend Mariner Fianace to anyone as I believe they are predatory lenders.

It was easy to apply. No problem with paper work, staff real helpful and kind. Did not take long to obtain my funds same day I applied. Thank you.

Process was easy and they found me a consolidation loan that covered what I needed saving me 100s of dollars a month.

The process of getting the loan was easy. The staff was courteous. My loan officer Ebonie was very nice from beginning to end. Outstanding customer service.

I'm not usually one to leave reviews, but my experience with Mariner (Mechanicsville, VA) today is worth sharing.

Yesterday, August 19, 2026, I spoke with a Mariner associate who told me I had been approved to refinance my loan. The refinance amount was small, but it would have been helpful because it would extend my next payment into October. I scheduled an appointment and assumed everything would go smoothly.

When I arrived at the office today, I was taken into a room and left sitting there for an hour with barely any acknowledgment. I was initially told they were working to close the refinance. Then, I was informed that they could not offer what had been promised due to information from my pay stub (which was also shared with them the previous day), but could give me a different amount if I used my vehicle as collateral.

The entire purpose of refinancing was simply to move my payment date, so I politely declined. The associate then said they could refinance the loan just to push the payment out. But that was wrong too - a few minutes later the associate returned and said they could not do that either unless I used my vehicle as collateral.

I am dumbfounded by how poorly this situation was handled. The associate knew exactly why I wanted to refinance, yet there was no apology or acknowledgment of the inconvenience, wasted time, or conflicting information. To make matters worse, the associate ended the conversation by saying, "I'll just leave this open for a week in case you change your mind."

The sooner I pay this loan off, the better. Do better Mariner. If I hadn't been extremely late for an appointment, I would have demanded to speak to a manager.

Edit**I reached out as suggested and received an insincere apology but no consideration was given to any of the misinformation shared with me. In fact, the conversation was turned to everything that I am doing wrong in handling my loan.

My review stands. They are all smiles when things are going well, but if you start to struggle, beware.

⚠️ My Experience With Mariner Finance — Think Twice Before Borrowing

I am sharing this review because I believe people deserve to know what my experience with Mariner Finance has been before trusting this company with their finances.

I was a Mariner Finance customer for more than three years. I made my payments and maintained a relationship with the company. Then, in 2025, I lost my job and experienced a significant financial hardship. I was out of work for more than 32 weeks.

In June 2025, I proactively contacted Mariner Finance and explained my situation. I wasn't trying to avoid my responsibility. I was asking for assistance, a hardship arrangement, or some type of reasonable solution while I worked through unemployment.

I never received the help I was looking for.

Instead, the situation eventually escalated into legal action. Mariner took me to court, and I am now dealing with demands for financial information and other matters through the legal process.

What bothers me most is that I tried to communicate with them before things got to this point. I was asking for help during a legitimate financial hardship, not refusing to pay.

My experience has completely changed how I view this company.

I cannot speak for every Mariner customer, but I can speak for myself, and based on my experience, I would strongly encourage anyone considering a loan with Mariner Finance to do their homework first and understand exactly what they are getting into.

There are also publicly available records showing that Mariner Finance has faced consumer complaints and significant litigation involving allegations concerning its lending and collection practices. Those matters speak for themselves.

For me, the biggest lesson is simple:

When you are doing well, borrowing money is easy. The real test of a financial company is how it treats you when something goes wrong.

Unfortunately, my experience with Mariner Finance during one of the most financially difficult periods of my life has not been one that I would recommend to others.

My recommendation: before taking out a loan with Mariner Finance, read everything, understand the terms, understand what happens if you experience financial hardship, and research the company and its history carefully.

I personally would not recommend Mariner Finance based on my experience.

And if you are currently considering borrowing from them, I strongly suggest you look at other options first.

The process was quick and simple. The loan terms were clear as day and several options which was very nice. I definitely would loan with this company again.

They make you feel like you are part of a Family you walk in the door every one says Hello how are you doing today they treat you like they have known you for years. They explain how everything works for you and makes sure you understand the process well I would definitely be back if I ever need them again...
