Six months post install and I'm happy.
Let me start by saying we currently have a solar setup that we are happy with despite a few compromises and variations from the original survey. These compromises were primarily around the amount and make of panels originally quoted but to be fair these were fully explained by the fitters and the team at MMHG. I want to give a fair and balanced review that will be of help to those considering MMHG and hopefully for MMHG too. They already know of most of my concerns and have satisfactorily answered most of them.
Some of the issues in the installation seem to be common to a lot of other installers but I wanted to share them here so people can consider and understand them.
Firstly I personally found it difficult to keep track of the cost of each element e.g how much the individual elements of the scaffolding, panels, sundries etc was. This was explained to me because of the way the company works out the overall cost and each element was linked to other on-costs e.g labour. This made it difficult to understand how any variations were costed. For example when the cost of a panel was taken off the invoice this seemed to match the cost of the panel but not the on-costs. Of course I cannot be sure of what I’ve written here but it was difficult to understand because of the way it was originally invoiced.
Some positives were that MMHG took on the job even though it was over a glass conservatory, something another ‘big player’ wouldn’t even consider. Communication on the whole was excellent especially from Rosie and the original ‘guru’ Alex who answered my many emails and messages. Other sections of the company were not as quick and less responsive in their replies but even my queries to these sections eventually had positive outcomes.
The electrical installer, who was local, was also very competent and I felt happy that they were trustworthy. I would probably use them independently for any further work e.g. if I wanted an EV charger installed.
The bottom line for me was did I get value for money from the install. I’d say MMHG weren’t the cheapest I could have got, even with the ‘council discount’ but it wasn’t 100 miles off.
Six months in I’m happy with the solar setup I have.

Leonie was an absolute star
Leonie was an absolute star. She was incredibly patient in going through all of my custom requirements, explaining the differences between the various options, panels, batteries, and strategies, and giving honest recommendations for the overall setup.
She was also extremely helpful in adapting the plan in real time, especially given the lack of up-to-date public data about my house and roof. She worked through all the variables with me and came up with a plan that made sense for our specific situation.

No pressurised selling. Allowed questions and answered honestly. Assisted in calculations. Provided all relevant information and quick response in providing quotations, leaving option to consider further and arrange a follow-up call or allow notification to discontinue if I preferred.

A very efficient installation
This company helped me select the correct system for my house then took me through step by step the timetable of delivery of the goods, scaffold erection, panel fitting and electrical installation. Everything went according to their plan with astounding efficiency and I am Now benefitting from total electrical self-sufficiency and am selling my surplus electricity to the grid and making a profit.
