I ordered a box of hair color in November. Somehow I got signed up for automatic renewal even though I did not authorize this. I received another box of color in Dec. I called to cancel this renewal and they sent me a shipping label to return the box. I have sent this box back 2 times and it has been refused. This has involved 2 lengthy waits on the phone trying to reach a customer service rep. I still have received no answer as to why this package has been refused 2 times. The return date was Jan 17 and I mailed the package way before this. I will never do business with this deceitful and dishonest company again…. Beware when ordering a product online from them!!

If I could give 0 stars I would. I walked in to make an appointment. There was a line behind me, the woman who made my appointment said she needed my cc info to hole my spot- never mentioned any cancellation fees or a hold on my card- I hate to cancel last minute because I wasn’t feeling well. Next thing I know my card is charged $85!!!!! Because it was less then 24 hours in advance. Not once was this mentioned, and I wasn’t sick 24 hours in advance. It’s a rip off! I wouldn’t give them $85 even if I went to get my hair colored there! They scam you! I’ll never ever ever consider going there again!

I have had nothing but problems with poor customer service quality of service having to repeatedly go back for corrections and it’s very low employee morale that makes me depressed just to go in there a few months ago I heard employees talking about how in the summer the air conditioner was broken and they had to leave the door open and it was sweltering hot and when I was in there two weeks ago, it was ice cold in their salon. I’m promised free highlights because of all of the problems and I’m just set up. I just want to go once and to not have to keep going back to correct the screwup’s. It would be nice for it to be a pleasant experience but it’s just not worth it , I will cancel my monthly subscription. I called the 800 number to let them know and they really don’t care. They just pay lip service. I don’t see how this company will stay in business.

I have been using madison reed for few years - like the product, the color bar, and the online color assistance. However - telephone customer service is horrible. I was very confused about my membership - at one point i was paying for two memberships due of some clerical error - and i wanted to know how much time i had left to use my roots membership, which i had just cancelled. She told me i had missed using the last service by one day. She would not budge or offer a grace period of one day / after all these years as a customer. I asked for a supervisor and she told me that i would get a call back in. 24-48 hours. Seriously? Do they only have one supervisor making calls? It is this level of inattention that is frustrating. I have never been blown off by a business like that before. I am now just doing a subscription - membership was too hard to keep track of as was what was going on with my account. Don’t want to be charged for two memberships again.

Madison Rip-off is more like it. The pros is that the smell of the dye is not bad. That's it. The cons are: uneven color, doesn't cover stubborn gray at the temple, hair is rough and frizzy now, and my $10 box of Loreal does the same job but the color is actually even!

There are two things I don’t like about Madison Reed hair coloring. First of all, the packaging is very wasteful. Each bottle or tube comes in its own box. I know they want to make an impression that it is worth the cost but it’s a little overboard. Secondly, the hole in the nozzle gets blocked up with a thick white cream about 15 times while I’m coloring my hair. No matter how much I shake the bottle I can’t seem to get all of the cream mixed in and blobs of it gets stuck in the nozzle. I do like that there are no strong fumes and the color is pretty good. I just canceled my subscription.

Hello, I colored my hair last night and it came out beautiful, I now have volume, shine and curls back where bleach basically left my hair flat and porous. I used the 5NAC dark chocolate brown. The only thing I am concerned about is the gray areas in front of my ears and front hairline turned a lighter shade more reddish/ auburn, I do not look good in warm colors so am hoping next time, I can touch do a touch up with cool or more violet/ash tone? The rest of my hair is longer than shoulder length a very deep dark brown. Any ideas on how to retouch grays in the future? Thank you.

Please help me understand why you charged me $70 for the membership on November 2nd AND November 30? I see in the very negative online reviews that your billing cycle is 28 days however this will mean that you will charge me again on Dec 26th. This isn't what you're advertising which is $70 PER MONTH!.
Trying to call customer service is a joke - twice it disconnects after being left on hold.
What is the resolution here?

The lady left the color on my hair for an hour and half. and took care of two customers and make a sale explaining the product to a lady and kept passing by me and telling me she is coming. main time I got very anxious and worried about my hair and my hair was very itchy and felt very hot like I was going to pass out. Now my hair is very dry and like a straw and stick very dried out and I was lossin alot of hair at the begining. it felt like glue on my hair and everytime I wet my hair it gives me anexity because it feels very tangeled up and dry . THank god my hair is not long or I dont know what I would o if it was long. since then I have gotten two hair cut to get rid of this glue in my hair but it is still stuck to my hair. I have not been able to color my hair for past 3 months because I need this glue to come off my hair before I put any color on my hair. I cancelled my membership couple of days afterward. But my hair is still very itchy and dry and uncomfortable. This has caused me alot of anxiety and stress. I want all my money and the damages that it has caused me since I have not been able to get rid of this glue on my hair and my hair is gray partially and I am very embarrassed of of my partial gray hair that looks messy. I would appreciate your attention on this matter.

Madison Reed burned a baseball sized patch of my scalp off. My whole scalp is still recovering and hairstylist slowly cutting off all the damaged hair. I lost over half of my hair density using this garbage product. This company is evil AF and lies about the safety of their products.

Madison Reed Walt Whitman mall has a Field trainer and supervisor I believe. Worst customer service in my 63 year lifetime. During our interaction she raised her voice after I told her to take it down a notch. Besides the fact that she destroyed my hair a day before my nieces wedding 6 weeks ago. She was training a new person and actually walked away when the new person was mixing my color. I asked her about this and she responded “ I trust my employees “. O really ? Then why show her how to mix just let her figure it out as she did that day with me when I walked out with flaming g red hair and a black beanie of dark hair at my crown, after I asked her to correct it. I wound up having a hairdresser friend correct it. I had a scheduled appt and was going to give them one more shot because my grays were poking through and I had a scheduled appt. Because I voiced my concerns regarding the last time I was there she was badly triggered and told ME they would not service me lol. Can you imagine ? I called customer service when I got home to get a credit for the month and still waiting on a reply. Google reviews next ? We shall see what Madison Reed does to rectify the situation. UPDATE : Their District Manager called me a day later and was very professional, listened to what happened and is refunding me. Thank you J !! Because their product lasts long and I was heard and treated fairly I may return. We All strive for peace and in a scale of 1-10 this turned into zero. All fixed. All forgotten. Hopefully a lesson learned. Again thank you J.

I'm glad I didn't read the reviews before I purchased the product...I always get my hair done at my local salon, but due to my work schedule I wasn't able to go get my hair done. So I decide to try dying it myself. I love how my hair looks n feels! I don't even have that lighter root hairs from what was once gray roots. My hair came out evenly perfect! I will definitely use this product again!

Had color done at a Madison Reed salon. Was my first experience with the product. The Umbria brown is not as shown in the website pic or what I saw on the device at the salon. My hair is now black not brown. Discussed a person I know of a similar age who dyes her hair black and I did not want that since my opinion is that it usually ages the appearance of a mature woman. Previously had highlights and lowlights. Hair feels good and blow out looks good. Color is way off.

I started using Madison Reed hair dye in March 2023. Following my first use of the box dye, I experienced MASSIVE hair fall. Hair coming out in wads in the shower. I was extremely distressed. It never occurred to me it could be the dye. It was supposed to be a more gentle option, right? Wrong.
I continued to use it every month to two months, the shedding continued. I was losing my mind. Scheduling and waiting for doctors appointments, waiting to get approved for bloodwork.
As the months went on, I used the hair dye less often, I swapped to my natural shade meaning I didn’t need touch ups every 4-6 weeks anymore. The hair loss slowed. I couldn’t understand what had happened. I chalked it up to a hormonal issue, stress, anything I could reason without knowing the true cause. But after stumbling onto a thread of women discussing their dye induced hair fall, I’ve come to realize the truth. Madison Reed hair dye has destroyed my hair. Its density has decreased by at least 50 percent, and my scalp appears dry and congested. I have not switched any products in my routine besides the hair dye, and I’d never experience any excess hair loss before in my entire life. I’m struggling to cope with the idea that the density I had prior will never return, as I see the near bald patches around my neck, ears and hairline the most. It shocks me this is still even sold in stores, shame on the companies that stock this product without warning consumers who believe it’s a safer option.

I have been using this product for a little over a year. When I first started, the product was amazing. It left my hair soft and manageable. My last 3 colorings have been nothing but a disappointment. The color has “bled” for over 7 days. I normally wash my hair every other day. My goodness, this the only brand I have used in 25 years of coloring my hair in which I had this issue. What a waste of money.
