Madison Reed ruined my hair

Madison Reed ruined my hair. Stay far away from this product. I went to one of their new color bars, in Deer Park IL for a partial highlight. As I was blow drying my hair, clumps of it was falling out into the brush. I mentioned it to the colorist and she said that she didn’t see any hair in the bowl as she was washing it and my hair was fine. Fine?! I’ve probably lost 25%-35% of my hair. It has been thin, coarse, and unruly ever since I got it done at your salon! Horrible product! After reading your replies on here, Madison Reed, I’m sure you will reply to my complaint with the same copy and pasted reply. How are you still in business??

Save your time and money and order from eSalon.

I’ve been a longtime esalon subscriber, and was very satisfied with them, but decided to try out Madison Reed since I can get same day delivery. I ordered a color kit from Madison Reed and paid $10 to have it delivered the same day via DoorDash since I needed before an event in 2 days, even got my order confirmation. I received a shipping confirmation the next day stating it would be shipped via DHL and delivery is expected over a week later. I tried calling the 3 times and after about 20 minutes on hold, each call, the automated system states to leave a message and someone will call you back, never got a phone call. I then start chatting and Evelyn says I placed 2 orders, the DoorDash order was cancelled and they’re shipping out an order via DHL and it’s going to be delivered in over a week. I did not place 2 orders and I sure wasn’t notified of the DoorDash order cancellation. If I was, I would’ve cancelled the entire order. I only have 1 payment on Amazon pay and I have only one order confirmation for the DoorDash delivery. Asked to cancel the order I did not authorize and get a refund. Evelyn says I have to wait for the product then return the product before I can get a refund. I explained that I don’t have time to be wasting to return the product and she stated I will not get a refund unless it’s returned. I explained that I never authorized an order that would get here in a week and a half! After about 20 minutes of going back and forth, the chat abruptly ends, the whole chat history is gone. I was not once rude or disrespectful. I tried chatting again and all of a sudden can’t chat anymore. Save your time and money and order from eSalon. Their customer service is great. Never again will I order from Madison Reed!

Madison Reed Dye and Hair Loss/ Thinning…

After a few months of using Madison Reed hair dye, I noticed my hair was thinning on top. I thought it was bc of hormones or diet changes. I tried a few different things, but kept using Madison Reed. I finally switched back to my old brand from the grocery bc I noticed Madison Reed color was fading badly between dyes and often didn’t get grays well (even though the color was supposed to be permanent and good for stubborn grays). I stopped using Madison Reed 6-7 months, and my hair is thick and healthy again - no more thinning. Stop using it if you experience hair thinning or maybe just skip this product to avoid potential hair loss.

Very unhappy!

This is the third time a Madison Reed Associate has missed a big chunk of root coverage. They’re always short staffed and my appointment for the last correction, the entire left side of my head was not covered, I received a text telling me my appointment was cancelled. Beginning to think the $59 unlimited roots is not worth it!

Today was my final attempt with Madison Reed. I’ve tried contacting them for other issues for months and just know it’s virtually IMPOSSIBLE to talk to corporate about anything. It’s is also pointless to talk to the location. I found out today, because there was no parking at the center where they are located, I was running late and tried Calling which u can’t call the location.. arrived 9 mins late and stood at the desk waiting on the lady to finish picking up color for a couple More minutes… before she meandered to the counter to greet me.. asked my name.. hit search and now we’re over 10 mins late… she says I don’t have an appointment, that’s a lie I showed her the screenshot… she says no I don’t have anything, i reiterate im a few mins late due to no parking caused by the music event… she says yea sorry it’s cancelled I can’t help you… im like well I think you can im just getting a root touch up and no way u have replaced my appointment in the 2 mins I was standing here.. I asked for a manager she was clueless and said no at first then she went and got a woman allegedly a manager and she stands at the computer and curls her face up and says yes sorry we can’t do anything your spot is filled .. lie… I am like are u kidding me!!! Last visit was 2 weeks ago and I waited 30 mins to start.. but you can’t take me when I was here before the 10 minute mark! Unbelievable… I say I tried calling and still no budge I say cancel my
Membership she says you have to call corporate!!!! I already k ow that’s a joke because I have been trying to get smocks that fit everyone for months. So can they color ur hair yes it’s a sold 2 weeks of color for me… everything else about the sucks! Customer service is a joke! Smocks don’t fit! They won’t give u water!! It’s a ish show of Customer experience. It’s sad I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt for months only to end up right here and finally done like a bad breakup… forget u madison reed we’re done! I will never recommend a single friend to ur stores! Get it together and do better!

Shipping is horrible, I give a big F

I really like the product and it’s easy to use. My color turns out great. I just have major issues with the shipping process. If I pay for it then I expect it to be shipped at that time. This has continually happened so that’s it I have canceled my subscription. I don’t think it’s acceptable to wait over 2 weeks for something. I can get it shipped from Ulta faster. So disappointing.

Burning scalp

Burning scalp. This product is awful, it left my hair extremely dry and brittle but also left my scalp burning and itching. The color was not a rich brown at all, I used the 6NAV. Complete disaster. I also used the brown gloss glaze. What a joke! Left my hair dull and not a gloss at all. And a greenish tinge. More importantly my scalp is burning and itching and so is my skin

Unless you want Black, flat, no shine hair when you are a warm brunette....

Tried them before going on a cruise in April 2022. Specifically told the colorist many times during the consultation I wanted warm golden brown to cover the grey NOT dark. What I got was black!!! She knew I was disappointed and just said it looked good and would wash out - duh! Did not offer anything monetary to remedy the situation and neither did the specialist who responded to my negative survey with basic color tips. It has been 7 weeks and the color is still very dark, flat, and no shine. Whatever product they use is terrible, so was the colorist and response from corporate. Very poor customer service as is evidenced by other reviews.

Get with it on shipping notifications

Color is good. I haven't experienced adverse hair effects but I color for fun rather than hiding grays so I don't use it as often as most. On that note, I cancelled my subscription because I was VERY OVER being surprised with the next shipment. Unlike every other subscription service I have used, they do not send a notification prior to shipping. They do not give you a chance to add products, adjust your color, or change the ship date. You will simply receive a notification of the order being shipped so it is up to YOU, the customer, to set reminders on your phone ahead of your next ship date (or some such nonsense). Pretty ridiculous for a subscription service as they are losing out on people possibly adding additional products to their order (as I have wanted to do), plus it is super frustrating for people like me that simply don't color that often. The longest window they offer between auto shipments is 8 weeks. So for basically the entirety of my subscription, I would get a ship notification of my next order just days after coloring my hair from the last package. It's like signing up for a free trial and you have to remember to cancel it except you're already actually a paying subscriber, just without the benefit of communication. Ugh...

I am furious...

The product was fine, unfortunately the customer service and shipping issues are horrible. I originally had delivery scheduled for every five weeks but by the time the product actually arrived it was 6+ weeks, which was much too long. I have a business that depends on prompt shipping so an order being in shipping status for 5+ days is unacceptable. I tried contacting customer service and found it extremely difficult. Someone finally reached out but I wasn't able to take the call. The customer service and shipping aspects of this company are truly tainting what I thought was a great product.

Edited to add: It has now been in shipping status since 5/24/2022. It was supposed to be delivered between 5/27 and 5/31 and has not even made it to the DHL facility. This is unacceptable and if I do not receive my order by 5/2, I will be returning it and canceling my subscription. This is unacceptable and unprofessional.

Edited to add: The order has finally shipped after one week in shipping status. Now it shows a delivery date of June 6th. Originally was supposed to be delivered May 27th-May 31st. Over a week later and almost two weeks since the order should have been shipped. I will be returning this order and canceling my subscription. I had to make other arrangements for my hair at twice the cost. There is no reason for this absolute lack of customer service or respect for their customers. Horrible company.

Do yourself a favor and stay away

Well I wish I read reviews before investing in this hair dye. Now I’m that I’ve ready it can cause hair loss it’s make sense. I thought it was my new shampoo. Also they have the absolute worst customer service I’ve ever encountered. In 4 weeks I’ve only been able to get a hold of one person and that person wasn’t able to fix the issue. Today was my last attempt to try and fix this issue before I call my credit card company. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this scam.

They have the worst customer service…

They have the worst customer service I've ever experienced...in fact, it's nonexistent. You call and you think you're on hold, then the system hangs up on you; you try to chat and you get a message that someone will reach out (they don't); you request a video call and leave your contact info, and you never hear back. It's awful, awful, awful.

Madison Reed fails to disclose that one of Ingredients is actually worse than ammonia yet it claims to be free of harsh chemicals. They ought to be sued for misleading people.

Malicious product

This is the worst hair product ever. In 2019 I used Madison reed and about a month after I started using it, thats when my hair started falling out and my scalp started to itch and burn, at some points, it would get so irritated it would bleed. I had always thought it had an off smell, like a bunch of chemicals but I never thought that Madison Reed would stoop so low what they are doing is disgusting

Careful of Bait and Switch

Scheduled a color with highlights. staff very nice but shocked that I was charged $40 in addition to my $125 for washing my hair. Really? I have to pay for you to color my hair but it doesn't include the shampoo?? Won't go back and will not recommend the bait the switch.

Shipping and customer service has been awful. I used to really like Madison Reed which is why I ordered multiple boxes in different colors to take with me on my upcoming trip to out of US!! I wanted to tell others how good these are. My order has been in shipped status for 2 weeks now but USPS clearly shows it never was picked up by them! Now, I have 2 days ti leave and don’t even have my own hair color to dye!!

I have called customer service multiple times and it always ends up asking for my number to cal back and hangs up!! Guess what, I haven’t had a call back. This is really damaging customer trust that counts on you. Why would I want extra different colors that I ordered after I’m gone!! The lack of responsibility and support is just awful!

AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE

It's so very difficult to cancel a subscription. There is no "contact us" on the website and you have to HUNT to find a phone number so that you can speak to a human to cancel the subscription. I finally found a phone number and was on hold for an unreasonable amount of time. Save yourself the headache and go with any other color subscription.

I started using Madison Reed in 2020…

I started using Madison Reed in 2020 when COVID made salon trips high risk. At first, I was happy with my results but after continued use, I noticed the color in my hair was no longer brown … it had deep red undertones that looked horrible in the sunlight. It looked like the cheapest of the cheapest at home box dye color, & honestly … I was devastated. I called Maddison Reed because I had boxes & boxes of hair color at home & asked to return them. I had boxes because of their subscription model & needing more than one box to color my shoulder length hair (that in itself is a scam). They told me that this shouldn’t happen & asked me to give them another chance … and they were going to send me a different color to try if I sent them a picture of the red color in my hair. I gave it a try, & the results were just awful. Beyond that, dying my hair with Madison Reed made it to dry & brittle that my stylist recommended a significant hair cut. I was devastated & couldn’t agree with such a drastic cut, so I started to try to repair the damage with intensive hair masks at home. The damage was done though. Because my hair was so damaged, I didn’t even want to have my salon color correct the awful color I was left with after using Madison Reed & felt deeply self conscious of my hair (& appearance) for months. To be honest, I am still embarrassed & it’s been over 9 months of trying to get this color out of my hair. I deeply regret using Madison Reed, & I hate that they prey on women who are already self conscious about their hair to begin with (“we fix stubborn greys!”). I have spent more money attempting to fix the damage from Madison Reed than I would have just getting my hair done at a salon. I could never recommend their hair color for true brunettes in good faith. I am deeply disappointed & honestly hurt, as physical appearance does matter so much in society. And Madison Reed knows that … they know women feel best when our hair looks good.
