Update as of 29th October, Samsonite reached out to me to review the matter. They continue to maintain that I used considerable force to damage the zipper — an explanation that makes no sense to me. Why would I intentionally damage an expensive backpack?
As a resolution, they offered me a 20% discount code for use on their online store. I have chosen not to use it, as I am reluctant to purchase another Samsonite product. I suppose they consider the case closed, but I certainly don’t feel that way.

I purchased my Samsonite backpack through the online platform Luggage Superstore.
After approximately nine months of use, the zipper split rendering the laptop compartment unusable.
Initially, I contacted Samsonite directly. They requested that I cover the cost of shipping the bag to them and provide a warranty card with a retailer’s stamp. Since the bag was purchased online, I naturally did not have a stamped warranty card, although I did have the card itself.
I then submitted my claim through Luggage Superstore, who kindly offered free shipping for the assessment. Nearly four weeks later, I was informed that my claim was unsuccessful. I find it difficult to understand why the process required such a lengthy review, only to arrive at this outcome.
When I visited a Samsonite store on Oxford Street last year, the salesperson strongly emphasised the robustness and quality of Samsonite products. I was assured that any issues with the zippers or functionality would be covered under warranty. Based on that confidence and because Luggage Superstore offered a competitive price I decided to make the purchase. As someone who commutes weekly from Lichfield to London, I needed a durable, reliable backpack.
Over the years, I have owned many backpacks, including far cheaper ones, and never encountered a zipper fault like this. In hindsight, it appears I placed too much trust in the brand name rather than the actual quality.
As an interim measure, I purchased an AmazonBasics backpack. It has performed well and, ironically, has proven more reliable than the Samsonite bag I had expected to last for years.
I now consider this purchase a poor investment, and this experience has unfortunately deterred me from buying Samsonite products in the future. It’s disappointing to see that the brand I associated with quality and service appears to prioritise cost-saving over customer care.
I told Luggage Superstore to keep the bag (save their shipping cost to me) and destroy it.

On examination of goods, the handle on the cabin luggage was unfortunately loose. A brief email to explain was promptly responded too and adviser gave clear instructions on returns.
Package returned for replacement.

Not impressed at all- initially all went well and ordered fine included confirmation that they would honour a price match. Thought all was sorted (we had fairly limited time to get suitcases sorted due to some unforeseen circumstances- so this was a big relief). To then three days later recieve an email that the item was no longer in stock and we would be refunded the money which could take up to 5 working days. Though I appreciate these things do happen, all we received was a bogstandard response along the lines of “sorry but it’s not our fault/ problem”, when ultimately it was their website that indicated they had the items in stock, their company that took our money and therefore their responsibility to ensure communication processes with suppliers are up to date. Additionally, luggage superstore have done nothing to sympathise that they’ve put us in a really difficult situation as effectively ten days after the original order we’ll be back to square one. Time we don’t have at this point.
In comparison we ordered a suitcase from John Lewis the day after which turned up today after brilliant communication. This was our first experience trying Luggae superstore after hearing good things from friends and we won’t be using them again.

So I ordered a travel backpack for an upcoming holiday - the price was the best I could find, and the reviews of the company stacked up - order placed!
But… I didn’t check the estimated delivery date before pressing order and when the confirmation came through I realised it would be delivered after I had set off, and that in all probability my Wife would have some strong words to say (the bag was for her…)
I messaged the customer service team and they were unreal - prompt responses, helpful solutions and always proactively coming back to me with updates.
Sarah and Kelly have been genuinely the gold standard of customer service and the bag arrived today, 3 days before we set off.
Thank you - will absolutely buy from here again and would recommend to all

Everything is great with this company until something goes wrong with your item. The handle on our case stopped working after first use.
I had to first apply for a warranty claim, where I was made to feel like its my fault.
Then once this is approved, they sent me an email saying return the item with the label and details attached. Yet no label or details are attached.
Their customer service don’t read emails properly or what you’ve said, then copy and paste irrelevant information to you.
They’ve also said it can take another 6 weeks of ‘inspection’ once I return this massive suitcase.
