Learning journey with Leiths
Fantastic courses and my mentor is brilliant. The skills based approach is a wonderful way to learn and it is a revelation to see how skills unfold and are practiced. My mentor was there with help and advice throughout and gave tips and encouragement. I would highly recommend Leith's online learning to anyone from beginner to professional level chef. I don't think I have ever had such a learning curve in my life, and being a teacher myself, I know when I am taught well. Outstanding!!!

Great staple recipes covering lots of techniques and using some unfamiliar ingredients. Above all it’s been fun cooking for my family each Saturday. Louisa has given lots of encouraging feedback and has been flexible with substitute ingredients where necessary- we live rurally so popping to the shops not that easy!
Exceptional Online Course
I recently completed the essential bread & patisserie course with Leiths Online, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the experience. The support from the tutor was exceptional, and the videos were incredibly clear and easy to follow. This was, without a doubt, the best online cooking course I’ve ever taken. The workshop platform was also very user-friendly and made the learning process enjoyable. I highly recommend this course to anyone interested in patisserie and bread baking. I am already looking forward to taking another course with Leiths!
Excellent beginner’s course
There are plenty of cookery books and online recipe videos etc available, but with limited experience and confidence I always found it difficult to know which to try.
This course has greatly increased my confidence and enjoyment of cooking. I think to teach effectively you have to know your subject in depth and also know how to put this across, which the Leiths demonstrators and in particular our course tutor certainly did. I found the back to basics information and advice very helpful, and also the extra tips throughout the course. The online structure made it easier to do when convenient, however it is still intensive and a time commitment, and I particularly appreciate that although I have submitted the last few dishes after the official end date I am still receiving helpful individual feedback on them. The course cost is very good for the content and structure, but there is the extra cost of ingredients (and for me also some kitchen equipment) to bear in mind. However I feel this has been a good investment for the future.
I was surprised every week by how well most of my dishes turned out by following the detailed written information and videos, which has given me confidence and enthusiasm to continue cooking and hopefully fit in another Leiths course in the future.
Interesting course
Interesting course. Able to work at my own pace. Liked the demonstration videos and the individual feedback. Learnt some helpful tips and recipes that will be useful in the future.
Building confidence in the kitchen
I have learnt a lot about doing the basics well including the preparation of equipment & ingredients. I am more confident in creating dishes and experimenting with new dishes and/or variations of the dishes I have cooked. The feedback on the dishes were helpful and felt you had someone on your side supporting you.
The better if's for me are: Calling the course Absolute Beginners felt a bit undermining (remembering the participants), just Beginners would have worked or Basics done well.. For me, the course was better when I pre watched the videos.. I felt more in control and organised. (maybe that could be a tip at the beginning of the course). Sometimes I was unable to obtain all of the ingredients from my local supermarket.. might be helpful if alternatives were suggested (if practical). A useful course that I would recommend to anyone wanting to learn the basics well and be organised and confident in the kitchen. thanks Mike

Very simple and easy to follow, using the ‘Workshop’ platform. The team was easy to contact, and was very helpful, giving you feedback on your recipes! It was a great experience, and counted for the skills section of my Bronze DofE.

Excellent course, highly recommend
This has been one of the best courses I’ve taken. The combination of both written and very detailed notes with visual recordings were brilliant. The recordings were the right length with enough information and clearly demonstrated to allow you to follow each step of the recipe. I learned a great deal and having successfully completed the course I will look to do further courses in the future. The main bonus of the course being online was that I could take the course in my own home at a time to suit me.
Raising one standard of meal preparation and presentation
I liked the way it was presented with very clear guidelines and explanations. I Liked the choice of meals throughout the course and will certainly make many of them again. Louisa our mentor made highly detailed and appropriate comments on the presentation and in answer to any difficulties I had experienced. What I would have liked would be more information about at what stage to freeze something during the presentation and also, apart from the final session when this was presented throughout, some indication of what may be prepared ahead up to what stage and also maybe indications of how to use the offcuts that were wasted for example a recipe for making a vegetable stock.
