Fridge Caught Fire – First Ever Claim Rejected! Extremely Disappointed with King Price
On the 29th of June, our fridge caught fire due to a gas leak and electrical surge. We submitted a claim to King Price Insurance — this was our very first claim ever since joining them.
We were shocked to be told that the claim was rejected because it falls under “accidental damage,” and that only TVs and some furniture are covered under that clause.
So let me get this straight — a fridge catches fire by accident, and somehow that doesn’t qualify as accidental damage? We are being told that one of the most essential appliances in a home isn’t covered, even in a serious electrical incident?
We have a baby at home, and being without a fridge has created stress, discomfort, and frustration. We trusted King Price to be there when it mattered most — and instead, we were let down completely.
We’ve never claimed before, always paid our premiums, and the one time we need help, we are left to deal with it ourselves.
King Price, this is not what real insurance looks like. We expected better. To others: be very cautious and read every fine print — because when you really need them, they may turn their backs on you too.

I cancelled my King Price policy — CLEARLY and repeatedly told them I want no further contact. Yet they keep harassing me with calls and emails, ignoring all requests to stop.
They even attempted to initiate a DebiCheck debit mandate on my bank account without my consent or an active policy — that’s outright shady and potentially fraudulent.
This is beyond bad customer service — it’s harassment and borderline theft. I’ve lodged formal complaints with FSCA, the insurance ombudsman, PASA, and the Information Regulator.
If you want peace of mind, stay far away from King Price. They don’t respect your rights, your privacy, or your bank account. Absolutely zero trust here

I had a windscreen crack
called to put a claim through- took one week before approved.
there service provider replaced with issues- cover does not fit properly and looks untidy, apparently i need to wait 21 days before it can be replaced,
my dashboard has a GAP, to which I am still awaiting.
I have emailed KINGPRICE numerous times, to date no response.
Last week I requested a call back, spoke to guy, gave entire story, put through claims, call drops, he called back was on hold for a long time, I had asked him to call back around 1pm, eventually the guy from claims department, called did not know why he had to speak to me, (really)
I have emailed them since then again and NO response.
I am utterly disgusted by this service and has been a customer for years

I was contacted by their collections department asking "what is happening with the payment". Not sure what kind of baffoon speaks to a clients wife like that. They cannot execute a claim correctly, when my husband was in an accident. we could have been sued for the other drivers negligence, after months of back and forth hogwash excuses on their side. But figuartively got "big balls" to ask me whats happening with the money, you guys hire ex loan sharks to tryand intimidate your clients lol. What a putrid unprofessional company. Worthless and rotten to the core. I guarantee they will not investigate my complaint. They just want their money or else.

I'm truly not happy with king price choice of panelbeat, since I my car went for repair on the 5th of December 2024 today it is the 4th of March 2025, still I'm fighting everyday to get an update of my car I have been paying every month without give them problems but it takes them 4 months of just get the damn fender of a Ford fiesta to be replace. Poor service from both the insurance and choice of panelbeat

This insurance company does not pay at claims, blacklist you for other insurers not to insure you, they are not honest and they are not willing to get feedback.
Our car was stolen at the mall, they are refusing to pay, because of the story from a car guard whose story has changed 5 times, and we getting punished for that. Their assessor has even gone to the lengths of claiming that we gave him a wrong key for the car, that he collected from us and that stayed with him for 2 weeks.
Even when we have searched for the car ourselves and saw the car being advertised on Facebook, they are not even willing to look into the matter because it will expose their assessor.
DONT USE THIS INSURER, DONT LET THE GOOD SALES DEPARTMENT FOOL YOU, YOU WILL SUFFER AT CLAIMS

Be careful, if you want your vehicle parts replaced by low quality alternatives then go ahead and insure with them. You surely will regret it.

Take them to the National consumer tribunal 010 590 5200 something i should have done after they blacklisted me because we didn't let them know my wife started working from home and apparently that makes your house a higher risk for break-ins. BS
So I am not happy with King Car…
So I am not happy with King Car Insurance at all, we have switch to King Cars because of all the wonderful promises made to us that they are sufficient and they would assist immediately when in need. Well the first time we had to make a claim because someone through a brick through my husbands windscreen we were told that we have to wait 3 days for our debit order first to reflect before they can help us ( not taking in mind off all the other debit order payments that went through previously) in the meanwhile how must my husband drive his vehicle with a broken windscreen. When he notified them that was not what we were promised in case of an emergency they simply replied that there are nothing that they can do so long story short they don't care and will leave you stuck next to the road. I am sorry but I am cancelling my Insurance with them, If they can not take good care of us then why should we pay for services promised and not adhered to.

I got a phone call no introduction nothing just ''How can I help ?'' blaring music in the back ground uninterested in what i might need . Then to repeat to me that he was phoning as i wanted a quote for commercial business. When this is how it starts I want nothing to do with this company .
KING PRICE BRAND PROMISE MISLEADING TO CUSTOMERS
If you search for TOP Car insurance companies in South Africa, King Price ranks 8th , and the main reason for them to be in the Top 10 and I quote " KING PRICE IS WELL KNOWN AS THE INSURANCE PROVIDER THAT DECREASES THEIR CUSTOMERS PREMIUMS TO ALIGN WITH THE DECREASING VALUE OF THEIR VEHICLE " This is misleading and false advertising.
I have not claimed for over 5 years, but instead of being rewarded, I have been hit with a R100 increase. This should definitely be reported and people should be aware of their false expectations.
Poor Assessment and service
We had a thunderstorm and power issues in the area so my washing machine and my TV and some cameras on my camera system had issues.
2 x cameras blown with the power supplies
TV sound disappeared
Washing machine cold water function on motherboard blew.
I was told That it is “Wear and Tear” and the claim was denied. I had a qualified tech that assessed my items, and he said that all items had electrical related problems and blown electrical components caused by the weather and power issues .
Think Twice before considering King Price .They are quick to call for business but when coming to claims you must keep calling them to follow up.
New Car Insurance taken Up
I received a call from an agent named Sibusiso Mzizi, he asked to do a qoute for me and I agreed. He started by asking me my expectations and I told him that I am loooking for the insurance company with low premiums and good service.
Guess what he delivered more than my expectations. What captured my attention was the premiums that decreases on a monthly basis instead of increasing. He also explained the refferals policy and how it works.
I then requested him to call me at 13h00, in order for me to consult, but in real sense I wanted time to chech the reviews.
I had few concerns with the reviews and he was able to handle all my concerns very well. I had to take up the insurance from the way he knew his product. I hope to receive this kind of service going forward.

Poor customer service,king price is so trash, where have you ever heard of insurance saying your contract is with a broker and not them even though the contract clearly states that they have covered you & so they can do nothing to cancel your contract, but you can call them when you are in an accident. The so called broker conveniently does not answer calls. Scammers! DO NOT EVER IN YOUR LIFE TAKE UP INSURANCE WITH KING PRICE

Service delivery is trash customer service is trash. I would not encourage someone to use kingprice home content insurence. Additional content cover you have to claim twice per annum even though your claim was not paid they still regard it as a claim meaning now you'll be left with one claim which it doesnt make any business sense
This is THE WORST company to be insured…
This is THE WORST company to be insured with! I've been a customer for over two years without making any claims. The first time I needed to file a claim, they refused to approve it. The level of unprofessionalism is shocking. I've had to deal with multiple consultants and repeatedly explain my situation, which has dragged out the entire process. I am canceling all my policies with them!! Do not even go this route, IMMEDIATELY try anyone else!
My experience with King Price was the worst
My experience with King Price was the worst thing I have ever experienced. Beginning of this year there was flooding in the area i live in. The road had completely flooded and the water rose, I was unable to see and was pulled in by the current this caused the entire car to shut down and get water logged. I had called a tow truck company to assist who later took my car to the designated place given by the insurance. King Price had sent my car to an auto body shop in Stamford Hill, to which they "redid" the entire car and engine leaving me without a car for 2 and a half months with no transport to get to work in Westville. I had made numerous calls to which finally I was told to visit the auto body shop and pick my car up. The day i thought I would fetch my car all ready I arrive at the shop with the entire bonnet and grill not attached. They made me wait whilst they did this although they had the car for 2.5 months. Be aware I am well educated in the field of cars therefore I did an inspection before taking the car to find that the only work done on the car was the body and the entire engine was flooded the oil had been mixed with water that formed a sludge and every part of the engine had water in it. I had called the guys at the auto shop and they had told me that King price had asked them to flush the engine and do the body work. I had then called the agent of King Price and explained that I will not take my car and that I will meet him at Stamford Hill the next day. The next day the guy from King price had spoken to us and we had asked him to view the engine and see the that water had mixed into the oil and other parts of the car. This agent insisted that the car is road worthy and I would need to take it. Note he stated that it is safe to drive and that there is nothing wrong with the car and I could take my family in it. The agent had argued that I could drive to Westville everyday with water mixed in the oild and nothing would happen. Bare in mind that apart from the engine being completely damaged the paint work did not match, the grill bought was plastic and matte yet I had a chrome finish and the lights of the car were not fitted properly but according to king price my car was like brand new. I stood my ground and refused to take the vehicle. The agent had called a guy from their head office who I took off with over phone as they insisted they would not do anything. I had requested for a courtesy car until the entire process was completed and I left that autoshop without my vehicle. Never in my life have I seen such an unprofessional insaurance company. King price does not care about good customer service and they do not put the safety of their customers first as they stated the car was road worthy according to the "professional" mechanic they had brought who kept quiet when I showed the sludge in the vehicle. I would not recommend this insurance to anyone. In fact they shouldn't even be running I wasted all my hard earned money on them. They are an absolutely horrendous company.
