Bereavement is a difficult time and having your card blocked and then a lesser credit limit offered makes it much more so. The credit limit offered is no where near enough to cover some of the bills coming in. The whole point of this credit card is to be able to earn John Lewis points and if this is not possible then there is a strong case to go elsewhere. Also having been a John Lewis shopper for over 50 years and making sure our previous card was cleared every month, I feel very let down.

Pros: Application process very easy, sign up easy, key information comes through quick for onboarding, customer service relatively quick and escalating to correct department mostly frictionless, app easy to use, staff friendly and go the extra mile

Cons: app takes very long to load up vs competition, biometric takes a lot of time to pop up, customer support anti fraud needs work as not always helpful, can't find option to make direct payment via bank transfer

A good company with many offers very good customer service and a brilliant card.

I've been using JLM for ages and it's been fine, but HAVE never been in this situation before. If you order in the first half of a Friday, you can get your money on Saturday (Waitrose in our case). If you delay till later on Friday, that Saturday changes to TUESDAY! (after we'd flown). So, presumably JLM is tied to banking hours. There needs to be a warning about this clearly on the website. We wasted hours going to a JL branch, where it took ages to get 500 euros at the bureau de change - and at a worse rate!

Great if you have a John Lewis or Waitrose nearby.

Ordered to be delivered to my local Waitrose. Picked up the next day - no hassle and good to have a local pick up point.

I have been trying to cancel my father's insurance after he passed away, and it's the first company where the customer service didn't offer any condolonces on him passing, then I wasn't told what was happening, eventually spoke to someone who was more helpful, I'd originally done this on live chat as I'd been on the phone for 15 mins.
They said they'd need a copy of his will, but I could email this, then they would cancel. I did this, and got an email asking me to ring them to cancel - emailed back saying I was told I could do this by email. Then recieved another email saying they could do this by email but needed the will.
No customer service, and I definitely wouldn't recommend.

Not great so far. Signed up due to the offer of a £50 Waitrose gift card worth of points and haven’t had much clarity on how to claim this.

Wanted to use the card for some higher value purchases to take advantage of the double points bonus, but the card got immediately blocked when trying to buy holiday flights.

The app didn’t ask whether the transaction was legitimate which I would’ve told them it was.

Helpline is still a phone line which was closed when my card got fraud blocked and I needed assistance.

Probably won’t use again.

Good service but received repeated emails claiming - incorrectly - that I had not collected currency and threatening cancellation of my order.

I was in John Lewis selecting a suitcase for my forthcoming holiday. I had good service and advice from the sales person who also asked where I was going to. Having found out it was Japan they reminded me that a small amount of cash will be needed for the transit systems etc. They pointed out that I could collect it from the first floor Bureau de Change. I went there and found more helpful staff and bought my Yen. Great service all round from JL staff. One question remains - why is the store layout such that the travel agent, travel needs (suitcases, sun creams, power adaptors and perhaps swimwear etc) and foreign currency are not next to each other?
