Susan Calvin has been great. Very proficient very great employee to have. Just emailed a few times but good to know I’m in good hands.

iteach facilitated my swift entry into the classroom, allowing me to earn a full salary while I completed my certification. Although the process took two years, I was able to progress at a pace that suited me.

The vast amount of informational videos and content allowed for an amazing learning g experience. The assignments and quizzes help guide the learning and real world applications of what is being learned.

Review of iTeach: A Frustrating, Overwhelming, and Misaligned Experience

As a working professional pursuing certification through iTeach, I entered the program with high hopes for a rigorous, supportive, and well-structured learning environment. Unfortunately, my experience has been deeply disappointing. The program's design, delivery, and execution fail to meet the needs of professionals balancing careers, families, and educational growth.

1. Lack of Quality in Program Design
The overall program feels cobbled together without a clear understanding of what working professionals need. Assignments are often redundant, excessive, and poorly aligned with the real-world demands of teaching. Instead of focusing on meaningful, practice-based applications, the tasks lean heavily into busywork that seems designed to check a box rather than enhance actual teaching skills.

2. Unrealistic Quantity of Required Tasks
The sheer volume of assignments is staggering and often unrealistic for those with full-time jobs or family responsibilities. Worse, these tasks often overlap in objectives but must be repeated in slightly different forms for different modules. There is little thought given to streamlining or scaffolding assignments in ways that build on prior learning. The workload is not just challenging—it’s punitive.

3. Minimal Instructor Involvement and Questionable Competence
Instructor involvement is nearly nonexistent. Communication is sporadic, feedback is vague or stock-phrased, and many instructors seem more interested in maintaining their own sense of authority than genuinely supporting candidates. This lack of engagement is ironic in a program purportedly dedicated to developing future educators who are supposed to model engagement and care for their students.

Furthermore, instructors frequently fail to model the very strategies and best practices they demand from candidates. It’s hard to take seriously lessons on differentiation and student-centered learning when the program’s delivery feels like a rigid, one-size-fits-all approach.

4. Instructors' Inflated Self-Importance and Ridiculous Expectations
Several instructors exhibit an attitude that is, quite frankly, dismissive and condescending. Expectations often feel detached from reality, with little consideration of the time or context candidates must navigate. The program preaches empathy and understanding as core tenets of good teaching, yet its instructors often demonstrate neither.

5. A Lone Bright Spot
Amid the chaos, the program evaluator stands out as the sole source of quality and support. Unlike the instructors, the evaluator is compassionate, accessible, and genuinely invested in the candidates' success. Their detailed feedback and willingness to provide timely guidance create a sense of reassurance in an otherwise demoralizing experience.

Final Thoughts
iTeach has fallen far short of its promises. It feels like a program designed without empathy, practicality, or professionalism, prioritizing compliance over genuine learning. Were it not for the exceptional work of the evaluator, I would have likely abandoned this endeavor altogether. I hope this feedback inspires significant changes to better serve future candidates because the current structure and culture are setting up aspiring educators to fail before they even reach the classroom.

It’s very digestible material compared to my district’s alt cert program.

They are doing well in giving the report for the assessment and assessment fast.

Payment plan is misleading and the website is not easy to navigate. When I had issues and reached out to iteach, they were quick to respond. I do not have resolution to the payment plan as the change of how much they are stating they will charge monthly now hasn’t been addressed yet.

I loved the self-paced option when working on my principal certification because I was already in such a demanding role in my career. It allowed to me to still finish quickly but to work on the weekends as I was able to without having hard deadlines or face to face meetings that I had to adhere to each week like many other principal programs. Many of my colleagues wished that they had gone the route I did once they saw how easy I was able to fit it into my schedule! I also felt very prepared to pass my certification test and my PASL.

I feel the web-site is at best difficult to navigate and finding any information is quite a task. It does not flow or keep track of what has been completed. When logging in and selecting Coursework, it should take the user to where they left off.

I also feel communication is quite lacking.

The feedback I received from instructors as well as the response time when ever I had an issues was fast.

Instructor grading concepts are subjective as it pertains to the rubics. Material in lessons is for elementary education and not for higher education. There is more emphasis on a process than the quality that goes into teaching.

Classes are good. I’ve learned a lot. I really like the field experience with both the field supervisor and the instructional coach.

The courses were educational, the support staff was great, and I felt sufficiently prepared for my first year and beyond.

The program was flexible and met my busy schedule.

Perfect for those who cannot make it into a classroom. Instructor graded work within a reasonable amount of time and always leaves a comment on the work you submitted.

The communication for the SOE was not clear. When I asked questions to the iteach representative over email, I was never given a direct step by step guide line.

Any question or concern was addressed in a timely manner. I feel that ITeach has been very support up to this point in my journey. Thank you so much for the encouragement as well
