Very questionable practices in the Estate Agency field
This company is set up to enable estate agents to increase profits by charging purchasers. The estate agent presents this as a fee for "compliance" (which is, indeed, a legal requirement). However, the real cost of ID verification and Anti Money Laundering checks are between £2 and £5 per person. Iamproperty.com (under the name "Move Butler") allows the estate agent to charge up to £80 per person for this. In their own words, they are " transforming a regulatory requirement into a steady, predictable revenue stream."
Estate agents who don't declare this extra charge on their property descriptions (e.g. on Rightmove) are acting against the spirit if not the letter of consumer legislation.
The next problem with iamproperty.com is that they seem to ignore GDPR. They use the email addresses and phone numbers provided to them by estate agents to bombard the hapless property purchasers with messaging aimed at "lead generation" for ancillary services such as conveyancing and surveys. This is clearly illegal. They offer no unsubscribe options: again, illegal.
Nobody should do business with this company.
