I'm not vegetarian, and not actually sure what the ingredients were, but this was delicious! Moist and quite spicy, generous portions too - some meals skimp a bit on the main item, not this one.
The site was so easy to navigate and ordering was very good. I don't eat meat, although I love fish! I choose mainly vegan meals as very often vegetarian meals contain normal cheese to which I am... Vis mer

HomeCooks is built around one simple idea: you shouldn’t have to choose between food that tastes amazing and food that’s good for you.
That’s why we work with independent chefs and food businesses from across the UK to create a huge variety of meals inspired by authentic recipes, cultures and cuisines. It means flavour is never an afterthought, and neither is nutrition.
The result is healthy food you genuinely look forward to. High-protein, nutritionally balanced meals made with quality ingredients you’d recognise and ready in minutes.
With hundreds of dishes to choose from, eating well is easier, more varied and a lot more enjoyable.

Classic Whitstable Fish Pie
Bought Classic Whitstable Fish Pie from a freezer at Misterton Coop. Most disappointing. Instructions recommend microwaving for 9 minutes, then leaving to stand for 1 min. The mash was watery and sloppy, no taste of Cheddar or dill. The fish was ordinary, no sign of salmon, generally tasteless. Too many hard peas. Coop’s own Incredible range and M&S much nicer, more variety, distinct types of fish, prawns, spinach, good flavours and delicious creamy mash. Also cheaper. Will not be tempted to try any other products in their range. Jan Tully

Hi Janet,
Thank you for the feedback, and sorry the Fish Pie didn't hit the mark.
Just to note: the dish you tried is from our retail range sold in Co-op, which is a separate part of the business from our subscription meal boxes. Different chef, different production process, and formulated for retail shelf life. I'll pass your feedback on to the team responsible for the retail line.
If you'd like to explore the chef-cooked subscription side of the business, please drop us a message at support@homecooks.app.

Very tasty meal but delivery days to improve
Very tasty meal
Only problem is delivery dates that are quite inconvenient as they should be earlier in the week or Sunday for the week ahead

Lots of meal options and protein, vegetables and carbs are separated which is a big plus in my opinion. You can freeze the meals.

Well where do I start
Well where do I start. I thought I’d give them a go as I need to improve my health with a medical condition and it looked quite promising. Received my first delivery and on Glance it looked okay. The idea was I wrong I went for the vegan/vegetarian selections And I’ve tried about a. Tablespoon Of each meal and oh boy I couldn’t continue. Everything was in tiny quantities and it seems that people think if they add a lot of spice it would make it palatable but it made it unbearably disgusting to be honest with you. So I cancelled it I even tried to give the leftovers to my Dogs. They turned their nose up at her and they will eat anything. Maybe I’mma be in a little harsh because I was a chef myself. But to be honest with you, I would not have been happy serving up those meals to anybody. The dryness was the The worse part sogginess of them tiny amounts of fresh vegetables over seasoning with very strong flavours which made it unpalatable. I might be wrong if I had tried the meat versions but the versions I had were mainly vegan and vegetarian choices. And every single one of them was revolting.

Hi,
Thank you for the feedback, sorry the meals weren't to your taste.
One important note though: please don't feed our meals to your dogs. The vegan and vegetarian dishes you selected (aubergine curries, tofu satay, courgette lasagna, garlic green beans) all contain garlic, onion and spices, which are toxic to dogs even in small amounts. All ingredients are listed on each product page before purchase, so worth having a look at those in future for anything you might consider passing on to pets.
On the meals themselves, our food is chef-cooked from scratch with fresh ingredients, seasoned and spiced to taste. Different palates prefer different things and we accept it won't be for everyone, but the descriptions and full ingredient lists are all clearly shown before ordering so customers can pick what suits them.

The best meal prep I’ve eaten
It was just very easy to order. I purchased a home cooks meal from Sainsbury’s and it was delicious so I had to order as soon as I finished

Good choice of meals as I can be a bit picky ! I like that the foods are in 'bento' style boxes so not all the food gets mixed together.

Hi Kathie,
Sorry the meal didn't hit the mark. Just to note, our veg does need to arrive fully cooked (as it's shipped frozen), so the reheat instructions on the pack are calibrated for that. Overcooking can happen if the meal is reheated for longer than the recommended time.
