Hertz in Sion, Switzerland: rental experience. It was a terrible experience - I rented the car for a week and turned it in without scratches, marks or anything. Gas tank filled up. I get two declined charges one week later for 2750 CHF. My friend had also left a credit card as a hold deposit. They then attempted to charge my friend's card.
They had nerve to file a so-called incident report 6 days after I turned in the car. WHEN and IF there were issues, this should have been flagged immediately not 1 week later. Instead, they claimed a loss report was filed on 7 April when the car was still in my possession. I turned the car in on the 8th. According to the incident report, it claimed I signed and acknowledged the damage made on the 9th. I was not even in Sion, CH on 9 April. This company is a scam. Renters beware!

Don't use Hertz. We hired a car that wouldn't get up a icey hill, granted other cars had issues but they all made it up in the end, leaving only us stranded. We ended up getting the car recovered and making our own way up. No contact was made by Hertz to sort a replacement car unless I called them and even then the options given were not suitable. So we ended up booking transfers, I've spent the last 3-4 weeks trying to get a refund from Hertz but because they haven't collected the car in this time, they won't issue a refund. Really poor customer service all round, won't use again and don't recommend anyone does.

Desk agent advised I need a 4x4 due to weather in the mountains. They had none left but he ‘found me one’ in the depot. When I collected it, it was not a 4x4. On return I complained and they refunded the £100 upsell which appeared as pending on my card. Once I left the country they cancelled the refund. They also tried to charge me 470 for a tiny mark on a wheel. As soon as I said I had full insurance, he changed his mind.

The Hertz location at the Zurich airport quietly deals in fraud. I am a gold customer and have rented internationally in many countries. I strongly advise you to avoid Hertz switzerland.
Here are just a few of the many extra fees that they are attempting to add on:
1) 200 Euro charge for not having an appropriate sticker in order to drive on Austrian roads....60 miles away, even though we informed them that we had a ski holiday in Austria
2) adding a 60 Swiss franc charge charge to a speeding ticket we received for going 6 MPH over the speed limit...this smacks of a tourist trap
3) Assessing a damage charge of 400 Swiss Francs (nearly $ 500) when the car was returned in the same condition as we received it.
When adding up all these charges, it is clear that Hertz Switzerland plans to gouge its customers. I will never rent from Hertz, CH again, nor would I advise you to either.
All these extra ripoff fees nearly doubled the cost of our rental. We have disputed all charges with Amex
