My cleaner this time was great. I find Helpling to be very expensive but worthwhile if I’m desperate
Better to get someone through a local advert or recommendation so that you are paying direct.
Helpling works for me if my regular help is away.

The cleaners on the platform all set their own rates per hour and you do have the choice of selecting a price range.

Disappointing at best.
My request was accepted after 2 days, but then cancelled straight away ‘because the cleaner left Helpling’.
It took a few days to get another cleaner assigned. This cleaner then asked via chat if they could do another time (2-4pm) than the one they’d agreed to. I responded and agreed, providing details of the clean. I did not hear back from the cleaner and then the day, they called in sick 2 hours after they were meant to arrive so I was contacted by the central team. Helpling offered to rearrange but failed to. Really disappointing experience - would not recommend at all.

Terrible experience trying to sign up
Trying to start but I'm unable to! Can log in on the web but not on the app.. completed my webenair which was just a slideshow and hours after it still says I need to complete my webnair. Can't get through to anyone because your chat function is just an empty page?

Easy and convenient
I have been using for a few months, very happy with it. Easy to manage everything and cuts a lot of time in comparison with the traditional way of contacting/hiring a cleaner (directly).

The work to be done was well explained
The work to be done was well explained, I received all the materials, I did a thorough cleaning without any inconvenience because I was told in advance that the compartment in the house was according to the recommended time. Senhor Mateus explained what he wanted very clearly.

They allegedly treat the cleaners badly
After chatting to our cleaner we found out that only just over a third was going to them, making their fee less than minimum wage for the work they did and Helpling's cut far far more than that. I know they say on their website that cleaners are freelance and set their own rates but our cleaner explained it had been recommended to keep their costs low, I guess so that Helpling could add a massive slice of money on top for themselves without customers thinking the price was unreasonable. Completely immoral and shameless.
We will be seeking out a different agency that treats its cleaners with respect (we could not take the cleaner who came on directly as they were worried they'd be barred from using the company to find work if Helpling found out). Such a shame to see such blatant abuse of precarious workers. Really hope Helpling sort this out.

As you've mentioned, the cleaners are all able to set their own rates per hour, whilst doing so, they can see exactly what they'll be paid per hour, along with what the customer is paying per hour. When new cleaners join the platform, we inform them that customers are likely to pay for higher priced cleaner, once their profiles have been built up with positive reviews and ratings, however, the cleaners themselves are not prohibited from amending their rates and they are completely free to do so whenever they want.
We have a dedicated Cleaner Support Team who work closely with the cleaner to help with any issues they may encounter, along with giving them advice and tips on how to make the most of the offers they receive and how to gain more customers. We respect the cleaner who work with Helpling, without them, Helpling would not work. Taking customers/cleaners offline is a breach of both customer and cleaner T&Cs.

A cleaner that could not clean
We needed a cleaner at short notice as our usual cleaner was not available. The cleaner came and did the worst job ever. I never knew a cleaner that couldn't clean existed. We paid over £60 for 4 hours for my husband and I to just have to clean again!! I am furious and don't want to have to know I have paid for something that has absolutely not be done! Would appreciate contact from the helping.com team please.

As all the cleaners on the platform are self-employed, we rely heavily on customer feedback. This is certainly not a usual occurrence at Helpling and we are constantly working on improving our cleaner supply by attracting better quality cleaners while at the same time removing the poorly performing cleaners from the platform.
