My collaboration with Hatchways was very successful and helped me land my first software engineering job. I participated in a 4-week project-based course in fall 2019 where I worked on a large scale application using the latest technologies and agile development techniques. Not only this project helped my resume to stand out, but I also learned how to collaborate with other software engineers and adjust to the changing work environment.

The best part for me was the help that Hatchways provided afterward during my job search. I always felt somewhat insecure during the job interviews since I wasn’t sure if I’m saying the right things. The Hatchways team rehearsed the behavioral questions with me and advised on how to present my skills and stories in the best light. Shums helped with the technical problems and gave me access to the interview prep materials.

When I was interviewing for the position in my dream company, the Hatchways team was with me every step of the way and I ended up getting the job! I would highly recommend Hatchways to those who are struggling to find their first job or gain a real-life coding experience. I wish there were more companies like this one.

This past summer I had the pleasure of participating in Hatchway's unique Co-op program during its beta phase. This fully remote program is designed to simulate a real working environment for its participants to better prepare them for a real software-related job. Our cohort was divided into teams, each of which was given a project specification to develop over the next four weeks. We followed a Scrum development process that the Hatchway's team did a great job simulating; participants took part in sprint plannings, daily scrums, and scrum reviews, during which Hatchway's team stood-in as the Team Lead as well as the client. We built the project using popular and applicable tools such as React, Express, and GitHub/ZenHub. The experienced members of the Hatchways team were able to assist us with any software-related questions we had as we built our project. After completing the program, my technical skills had improved and I felt more confident about entering a developer role. I would highly recommend this program to anyone who is looking to become a developer since it provides valuable hands-on experience that will prepare them for real-world software development.

I got help from Hatchways when I had a challenging period in my life: first immigration to Canada and then switching to my new career from business analysis to development. Not only I got tones of knowledge and mentorship from such great people and professionals as Jaclyn and Shums, but also I landed my first job - cop-op after the first round of the interviews!! I could not imagine this happening but I was perfectly prepared to succeed in the interview. It was a job I really liked and got a great experience there. I worked with Hatchways in 2018 when I was unemployed, self-studying programming trying to make a career transition into software engineering. Hatchways was really good at keeping in touch with me every day throughout the course, and they even set up several calls with me on weekends to help get to know me better in order to better pair me with searching employers. I think they put in a lot of effort, not just with time, but with trying to understand me and my interests when matching me with jobs, and helping to work on my interview skills. Not to mention being very available through chat whenever there were questions about my project. Basically, they were really responsive, and they were easy to talk with and feel comfortable around. I got a job a couple of days after my course ended and I'm really loving it so far.

Hatchways is a great company that helped me get a job in a new city where I had 0 connections. After submitting an assessment and meeting with the team, I was accepted into an interview cycle and had two interviews, a big change after months sending resumes without getting any responses! I didn't make it on the first round, but on the next one I got a job offer and now I'm happily employed as a full-stack developer
