Best practice and performance tool I’ve ever owned.
I’ve been using GoPlayAlong for over 10 years. Easily one of the best practice and performance tools I’ve ever used in the last 26 years of playing guitar. The developer is responsive to input and adding new features. Software has remained extremely affordable and excellent value for money. Highly recommend.

Perfect for recording video of playing along with tab
I wanted to be able record video of playing along with tab to a backing track and this works perfectly for that.
The ability to adjust the synchronization of the backing track to the tab is very useful.

Simply brilliant
Guitar Pro is one of the greatest learning tools I ever used.
This expands on that utility fantastically.

When the app works it is awesome
When the app works it is awesome, solved the problem of having several band members all be in sync for their sheet music on electronic devices. Uploading new songs is a little buggy. Throws error messages but if you click again the song is there. If you pick a bad version of the song (live instead of studio version) the app will still say it synced the audio but when you play the song it is not in sync with the sheet music. If it could be a little less buggy this could be one of the best music app o for bands.

Hi Andrew,
Thank you so much for your detailed feedback. I did a test run recently but I could not reproduce the same symptoms for uploads so far. I would be really motivated to sort this out. Please feel free to send an email to support@goplayalong.com and share any further details that could be relevant.
As for the auto-sync feature, it’s true that the app presumes that you start with a pair of matching score and audio. It would be a nice feature to show a warning if the wrong audio version was picked accidentally. I have registered this as a feature request.

Very nice app
I’m very satisfied with app, but sometimes it takes a long time synchronizing tab with backing track, in my case it was the bass tab. That’s why I gave 4 stars. Other than that it is great practice tool, and I would definitely recommend Go PlayAlong.

Hi Dan, thank you so much for your review.
If you bump into similar tabs that fail to auto-sync, please feel free to email them to support@goplayalong.com. It could help to improve the product in the future.
Auto-sync uses a complex algorithm to extract musical details from an audio file and to match it with a tab. Go PlayAlong does a great job in most cases but some songs are more difficult to understand for a machine and some tabs might contain errors, for example extra bars or incorrect repeat count.
Manual syncing is less complicated than it looks. With a few tricks and some practice you can match score and audio in a few minutes. The following page offers a detailed introduction into manual synchronisation: https://goplayalong.com/help-sync.
Further improvements are expected in the next major update.
A great alternative to Songsterr
A great alternative to Songsterr and Ultimate Guitar. You can upload your own tab and music and it will sync just as these websites do. This is a much better price model than the month to month from other companies.

I imported and synchronized 6 tunes in no time at all.
Excellent software at an extremely affordable price!

Features and overall usability is great for playing along with songs. There seem to be some bugs only in synchronization of tab with original song in mp3 format. Also manual editing of tempo is a bit confusing. Could you improve somehow connection of tabs to song tempos?

I think the software is great, very helpfull, but could be even better
I think the software is great; it has been helping me a lot with my bass and guitar learning and practicing journey. But I wish the program had ways to edit the tab/sheet and more and easier ways to sync the backing track. Also, it could have more ways to organize the library and the songbook (which pretty much work like playlists), maybe something along the lines of Spotify, etc., visually speaking. Maybe a section to personalize the user profile and add more information to it. In general, I love the software; it has been super helpful to me

Hello, thank you so much for your review.
Currently I am working on several major updates to extend the player with new ideas. Many of these ideas are coming from Go PlayAlong users and I would like to invite you to discuss more details by sending an email to support@goplayalong.com. If you have any specific requests connected to the sync workflow or library management, please feel free to share as much detail as you like.
Kind regards,

Great tool but it could be better
Its a great tool to make playlists with backing tracks. It makes practices easier.
Couple of songs will be synced wrong. And it would be nice if you could make changes and correct mistakes with syncing tab and backing track on the spot. Also making changes in other programs to add empty bars to correct tab to go with track, doesn't work. Go play ignores it and syncs it as before.

Hi, thank you for your feedback.
The easiest way to adjust synchronisation is to enter manual sync mode (select “Sync / Enter sync mode” from the system menu). Here you can add / remove points or shift all points together as needed.
In addition to this, manual sync mode lets you double-check your transcription and detect false notes easily. If you are interested, here you can find more details: https://goplayalong.com/help-sync/, see the section “Double-checking sync results”.
A coming update will let you combine manual and automatic synchronisation: you set up a few points manually and the algorithm will fill the gaps in-between.
If you stumble upon tabs that don’t sync well, please feel free to send their links to support@goplayalong.com, so that I can fine-tune the algorithm in the future.
Thank you,
