I am in Australia and bought a glowforge aura. The machine is great but the subscription price is very misleading. It says it’s $239 a year but got billed $337 plus $11 for exchange rates. Am not happy. Will not be renewing next year

Dont buy Glowforge, its junk!!!

I bought a glowforge Aura Ater less than a year it broke down, they sent me another one, Now this one they sent me broke down after using it about 10 times. I tried to troubleshoot it with glowforge and they could not fix it, telling me it was a hardware issue, and they could not repair it. nor would they send me a new one. but, they where willing to sell me a refurbished one.I spent $1,300 on this piece of junk, now they want to sell me another one? no thank you. I am now stuck with a laser printer that does not work.

Bought an Aura around 2 years ago from Hobbycraft. It's difficult to get the materials and beware, you can't actually make some of the items on the Aura box as the materials are not available in the UK. (Confirmed in e-mail by Glowforge) There is no UK help phone number, you have to wait for an e-mail response which they say is 24-48 hours.
You cannot do anything without a subscription, which annually is now $720. Even if you have the Aura and can't use most of the features. I cancelled as it was no longer affordable, but needed one of my designs. The subscriptions page is blank so you have to e-mail them. They assumed
I wanted an annual subscription, not monthly and took my money without authorisation as I deleted my payment method as soon as I saw the cost. To date they have not repaid the full amount and have given no reason why.
I wish I'd never bought it, I can't afford the subscription so basically it's useless. I tried to return it as you can't make what it advertises you can, but they refused and wanted me to upgrade! I have all this on e-mails from Glowforge.

Premium product without premium support for non-US customers

Non-US customers be warned! I purchased a Glowforge Pro for use in a STEM education business in Canada, expecting premium-grade support to match the premium price. Unfortunately, my experience has shown a serious gap between Glowforge’s brand positioning and the reality for international customers.

When my machine failed outside of warranty, I discovered there is no viable repair path for Canadian customers:

- Glowforge does not sell replacement internal parts
- There is no authorized repair partner in Canada
- The recommended U.S. service provider cannot service international units
- Self-repair is explicitly unsupported

In short, once a major component fails, the machine is effectively unserviceable outside the U.S. I am now the proud owner of a USD6K paperweight!

I made several reasonable, good-faith requests to keep the unit operational or to fairly offset the lack of repairability, including:

- Purchasing replacement parts
- Sending the unit to Glowforge for repair
- Receiving a deeper accommodation on a refurbished replacement

All were declined. The only option offered was a discounted replacement that still required paying a substantial portion of the machine’s cost again — essentially a partial repurchase to overcome Glowforge’s support limitations. In short, their solution was for me to give them MORE money.

Customer service was polite, but rigid and policy-bound. Despite escalation, no commensurate remedy was offered, even after acknowledging the absence of any local repair option. It was all hollow, empty words and no action.

For U.S.-based hobbyists, this may be an acceptable product. For non-US customers, schools, or businesses that require solid support, it represents a significant risk: high upfront cost, limited service life, and no practical repair path. Save yourself the headache.

I’m sharing this experience so non-US buyers can make an informed decision. It goes without saying that I ultimately chose to NOT repeat the same mistake by giving Glowforge my money again. I'm going with one of their competitors (Xtools, OMtech, etc).

DO NOT BUY, on my 3rd replacement and company won't reply.

I have had my glowforge Pro, a 6K puchase, for nearly 2 years now. In the past two years, I have been able to make only four items because the laser on the machine continues to malfunction. Earlier this year I sent in the model for a refurbished model. That machine came in, worked once, and then again the laser went out. I reached out to Glowforge Support yet again, and they never offered any reason this happened; they just offered to send another refurbished model, which I accepted. After receiving my second replacement unit in a 6 month timespan, it worked a few times, and then a few weeks later when I went to use it, one again, the laser is not firing. Now I have tried to reach out to them by calling and leaving voicemails which is all you get when you call into customer service, you can never actually reach an agent. I have called their sales line, thinking that they would be happy to try to sell this machine and again you just hit a voicemail. I have reported them to the Better Business Bureau with no reply and at this point, I believe they have no intention of working with me to make this machine usable now I have a 6K piece of garbage sitting in my work room and hundreds of dollars of material I intended to use. I am highly disappointed with the product itself, but even more disgusted and frustrated with the customer service or lack there of. With numerous other machines on the market now I highly highly recommend looking elsewhere for your laser cutting knee unless you want to sit on an overly priced machine, that even one wanted if it doesn't work, you have no ways of reaching the company to get it replaced or your issue addressed.

DO NOT BUY! Failed after only 4 years minimal use.

Purchased the Glowforge Plus 4 years ago. Laser head failed almost immediately. Free replacement (warranty). Last month, the laser stopped firing. Replaced the red high voltage wire (a COMMON) failure. Didn't fix it. Now, we will ship it to Wiregrass for repair. Estimate is $1100. They suspect the Power Supply. We use it very few hours per year. Maybe 10 hours per week June through November. VERY disappointed that a $5000 machine only lasted less than 48 months. DO NOT BUY! Use AI to search for a better, more reliable machine.

My machine has broke so many times, luckily I know how to fix laser machines. I've had no support from Glowforge to help me fix the machine. I am based in the UK and parts are unavailable in the UK, unless you spend a fortune on delivery.
The app is absolutely crap, its very slow and complex designs do not load. Constant errors saying the page is unresponsive. I have had to refund so many orders due to the website app not responding. It takes hours to do one easy job that should take minutes.
DO NOT BUY THIS CRAP.

Do not buy Spark. And FILTER IS WASTE OF MONEY.

I'm so disappointed. I've not been able to use because the smoke and odor is so bad. I also bought the 400.00 filter that is said to allow you to use in any room. Well not if you want to continue to breathe. In less than 4 minutes we had to leave the room. I called customer service and after hours of conversations, many emails, photos, videos and being told my matter was being escalated, the person I was dealing with falls off the face of the earth and I have to start over. I've run the set up procedure 3 times, cut 3 times and had to stop the machine those 3 times. They will not accept returns. They play call center games I guess in hopes you'll give up. It says in their marketing 30 day returns, but if you dig into the fine print, once you open the box - literally just break the seal, no returning! It brags the 400.00 filter allows you to use in any room. Not true. I'm pretty sure there is a truth in advertising law...I wish someone would look into these misleading claims. I have the new Spark and I would urge others to go a different route. A company that doesn't stand behind their product is not good!

Spent more than $8000 dollars on the…

Spent more than $8000 dollars on the 1st one. It only worked approx 15 months before just not working. I only have time to use machine 1 to 2 times a week, so it's not heavy use. They told me I could get a new replacement for 1800 Dollars. Purchased another for 1800 dollars. The new one didn't even work, called support and they sent me another no charge. The next one has worked for 12 months and 2 weeks when it looked like I was on a fake Glowforge site and it said lid open error and a popup ask if this was my website? I contacted support and went through trouble shooting for lid error. Was sold a lid cable (mine looked fine) when new lid cable was installed it fried the contact on my left LED strip. I am currently waiting on parts (about 6 weeks in now) I really would be suprised if it will be fixed because they have already told me it's out of warranty. I will not spend another dime on another 1800 dolar replacement if offered. I believe they kill them to sell you another 1800 dollar machine. Beware Don't buy. Do your research, really dig into reviews before buying another laser from any company.

firstly, look at the reviews on their website. all 5/4/3 star reviews. how? because they add them there themselves without giving customers the option to leave a review. they have made the webpage look like a genuine review site page. it is not. this sums up Glowforge completely, a flashy front but totally fake.

based in the UK we bought a machine, it worked for less than 2 years of very very infrequent use. then it broke. I have been attempting to get support for 6 months, they just use delay tactics so that the warranty runs out and do not actually offer any help.

It is clearly a laser issue, but they keep responding with single comments like have you emptied the crumb tray? this is like being broke down at the side of the road and the AA asking if you have checked your wiper fluid, then a day later asking if you have tried turning the engine off and on.

I sent photos, videos, calibrations tests. HOURS of work. their response was they they don't receive videos or photos well..?!?!

10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BRAND! I’ve had my Glowforge aura for 2 years now and have had nothing but issues with this product. For the amount this company charges, the laser should not have as many issues as it does. Granted I understand it is a diode laser and projects take a bit longer, but that’s not even the issue. This laser overheats very quickly! Even with it completely cleaned, in a cool area, and properly ventilated. Number two, the software is terrible, it moves very slow, does not load, and glitches. Three, I completed a cut on this laser and when it completed, the software just glitched and added on hours to a cut that was already finished, so the laser was just on for no reason. Number 4, the filter is a scam, after a few project's you have to replace which is around $120 for each filter replacement( wish I would’ve just started with venting out of the window). Five, I highly recommend purchasing material through other companies. Glowforge material cost is ridiculous and they charge $25 for shipping. Number six, use Adobe software, the Glowforge software premium cost is also ridiculous. You’ll pay less with the Adobe illustrator monthly subscription than the Glowforge, and Adobe has 10 times the amount of features. Overall, my experience with this laser has been terrible. I will be upgrading to a CO2 laser, but definitely not with Glowforge with their technical issues and the issues I’ve had with my current laser. Going to a Aeon Mira 9 redline series. Wish I would’ve researched other companies before choosing Glowforge, not worth the money, money I can’t even get back.

This is the worst purchase i ever made…

This is the worst purchase i ever made in my life!!! Still after spending over 7 total hours on the phone with customer service, I still can't get connected to the internet. It is not provided with a usb connection so you have to use wifi. Now it's just a big paperweight. They don't allow refunds/returns so if it doesn't work, you're pretty much stuck with an expensive hunk of junk. DON"T BUY!!!

DO NOT BUY A GLOWFORGE AURA - YOU WILL REGRET IT

where do i begin? bought glowforge aura, december 2023. i've had it 15 months, i've used it (maybe) a dozen times, i've contacted support at least a dozen times (starting two months after having it).

some things i personally feel are:

if you don't buy the plan, behind the scenes they have it slow or issues connecting.

i bought the plan after about six weeks of constant issues...i used it every other month for small projects. definitely not daily (or monthly).

i used it in january 2025, it worked...i went to use it in march 2025...cannot get it to connect...error, contact support...i contact support, they gave me some steps, had me send in photos and decided that, no warranty, let's offer you another one for less money ($839 dollars)...are you kidding me?

why is it not working?
i've had it 15 months
i've used it about a dozen times

what do you mean, buy another one (for less)? why would i do that? you can't even explain why this one is not working...and the fact that they can see all this "behind the scenes" is bothersome in and of itself. do you all just click the error button and hope you'll land on people that will "buy another one"?

in what planet would someone really buy another one if the first one stopped working in 15 months, with no rhyme or reason...nor a rhyme or reason given...

to top it off...i paid another year subscription (it expired in january 2025)...so, they refunded me the subscription $$$, however, I cannot access my designs that were previously created...it says, they haven't been used in 30 days blah blah blah...why would you deactivate my subscription without letting me know to FIRST download my designs?

I WILL NEVER EVER BUY FROM GLOWFORGE AGAIN. TODAY I PURCHASED FROM WECREATE. I'm not an every day user...i do like having a laser, it doesn't have to be thousands of dollars, i just want it to work whenever i decide turn it on. this aura (based on my usage) should have lasted me for YEARS on end...not even 18 months. #neveraglowforge

I have to give it 1 star because you can’t give 0! Absolutely a pain in the a$$ and I would not recommend buying this product. Get a different brand that isn’t as restrictive as glowforge. It’s a hassle from having to connect to the website just to use your product, connecting it to your home wi-fi (isn’t compatible with many providers) to actually using it. Problems with keyboard not showing up on your iPad so you can type your font for project, you can’t use any other programs to run your own product you paid for you have to use their website! Just an absolute pain to own, use and connect. I regret ever looking at this product, I will be buying something else that is user friendly and not a produced by a control freak of a company!

From the start this company has let me down. The first glowforge Pro I got didn't work. They sent a replacement (free) in a used box. I believed it was a refurbished machine. They denied it. It broke after about 2 years of use. This time i had to pay over $3000 CAD to get another refurbished unit, with only a 3 month warranty... it broke month four. they offered me a discount on a newer model. Do they think I'm dumb? Why would I spend thousands more on a company they doesn't back their own products. I will never buy anything associated with this company again. Garbage.

After 1 week she experienced problems we tried contacting uk support but then realised that it is USA & tried calling uk evening time, got straight through to a very helpful & extremely patient lady who walked us through & then contacted us the next day to check if the problem was resolved

Customer service is horrid! They don't listen, don't completely resolve my problem, so I have to call back repeatedly. I hold for a very long time, with the same music, not checking back. The option for a call back doesn't work. Very frustrated.

Glowforge Pro is a terrible machine, what a waste of $8k with the laser and air filtration system. The reviews on their website are filtered for only good ones, do not listen to them.

Their laser interface is so incredibly bad, be willing to throw away material like its toilet paper. Cuts are always off, the camera system does not focus, and the laser itself has 0% consistency with cuts and engraving. Yes, all of the proper cleaning is done on a highly frequent basis.

It on the other hand is a very pretty machine if you are looking for aesthetics only.

Subpar in every way! Non existent customer service!

Glowforge's marketing videos showcase their products exceptionally well; however, our experience with their machinery has fallen short of expectations. Despite the enticing demonstrations, the actual performance of the equipment is subpar in various aspects. Even executing simple and rudimentary designs or projects, akin to those demonstrated in their tutorials, demands an exorbitant amount of time, rendering the machine essentially impractical.

Prior to our purchase, we diligently reviewed the terms and conditions, which suggested a possibility of returning the product with a restocking fee of up to 15%. Regrettably, after nearly a week of attempting to communicate with Glowforge and escalating the issue, their responses were sporadic and evasive. They seemed to employ tactics to dissuade returns, and only after involving American Express did they offer a return option, albeit with a restocking fee of 30% plus a $99 shipping charge.

This entire experience has been deeply disappointing, characterized by poor customer service and a product that fails to meet even basic expectations of functionality and quality.
