Backed a product on Kickstarter (savepoint) and it was a disaster.

People who ordered the 1tb version received a version of Windows with malware baked into the image, which is indicative of the company using pirated copies of windows.

I ordered the 2tb version and my unit frequently crashed, powered off, reached dangerously high temperatures.

When I reached out them it took a while to get a response, eventually they sent me another cable and their solution was to provide a cable that limited the power and transfer rate of the device, something which they specifically touted as a feature, and even then it continued to reach critical temperatures and frequently disconnect and crash.

This thing got so hot it melted the glue holding the magnets in place that attached the device to magsafe rings.

Overall I think they make cheap shitty products that you should avoid.

Backed their Covert Dock3 on Kickstarter which was expected to ship in December 2025.
We’re now at the end of February 2026 and I’ve received no information about my order being shipped. This is despite their infrequent updates stating that they’ll be shipping things out “soon”. They’ve also sent me emails asking me to back their new Kickstarter project.
Usually I’d expect this from a Kickstarter project, but knew GENKI was an established brand and mistakenly assumed they would deliver on their promises.

Backed through Indiegogo- backed a Moonbase charging station. Arrived a few months ago and initially working well but after a brief holiday I returned to find USB-C charging ports now not working. I tried to contact Genki multiple times but no response via their website or indiegogo and the product is only a few months old so well within warranty. Extremely poor accessibility to their customer service (still no response at the time of writing this review)

So im writring this as my experance and Thouights on Genkithings and there SHIT Customer service , so il lstart my story

So i baught Savepoint in january without an SSD as i allready had a drive shipped else where, took over 1 month and half to arrive (Save point) First bad experance , Tried multple times to contact them regarding my delivery but no reply

After product arrive i liked it , and it was good for about 2 weeks, after 2 weeks i was unable to write to SDD or read at all , so as a experament i took the drive out thinking the drive was faulity and used a other m.2 Encolsoure i had spare , Drive Was Fine Worked flawsly . So i tried once again to contact Support via there website and EMAIL . no reply , i tried re aching out via discord as well no reply or luckluster support , 3 months past and still no contact form any sort, so i have a fuality product i paid for and no way to return or replace - so i have contacted my bank for a chargeback ,

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING from this compnay , Modern day Scam

I had high hopes for the Genki Convert Dock, but my experience has been overwhelmingly negative. From the start, there were issues with transparency regarding pre-orders, leading to initial delays. Communication from Genki was consistently poor, with my emails often going unanswered for extended periods – in one instance, it took 13 days to receive a response about a broken dock. Throughout the process, Genki had an excuse to explain why their poor service was completely acceptable - and never once seemed to consider the customer perspective.

The entire process was riddled with logistical problems and a severe lack of customer support. It took nearly three months to receive a working product, and only after numerous follow-ups on my end.

This culminated in my replacement dock being held by the shipping company in Germany for weeks, which Genki ignored every time I raised . The overall experience has left me with zero confidence in their ability to provide adequate customer service or reliable products, and when I asked Genki to put my fears at ease on this they couldn't. I cannot recommend the Genki Convert Dock based on my experience.

No international shipping despite saying so and no customer service.

They claim to ship world wide but i tried three different addresses that all couldnt be used. I tried contacting them via their website and instagram and got no response.

Flagged me as "high risk" and forced me to send personal info to ship. Supported them on both kickstarter and amazon. How does it feel to be untrusted?

Invest in a better CRM or shopping solution. Don't insult your customers.
