I decided to give Freename a try instead of one of my usual registrars, and it turned out to be a massive mistake. I’m trying to launch a small business on a shoestring budget, and their low domain registration price initially seemed like a good deal. Unfortunately, I discovered too late that something as basic as domain forwarding isn’t even available.

Because of this, the domain I paid for is essentially being held hostage. I can’t transfer it to a full-featured registrar like GoDaddy for another two months, and the only other option would be to pour more time and money into moving to an entirely different hosting platform — which would mean rebuilding my website from scratch. At this point, I may just have to bite the bullet, go to a real domain registrar, and pay for a year’s registration of a .net version of my domain so I can move forward.

From the moment I registered the domain, my DNS settings page has shown this warning:

“Using external name servers limits the feature set and domain integration Freename can provide. Services like email redirection, websites and more will not be available for this domain until you switch to Freename's DNS servers. Learn more about DNS in our Knowledge Base.”

This message makes no sense because I never changed any name servers. To make matters worse, the “Knowledge Base” link just loops back to the DNS settings page, providing zero helpful information.

When I reached out to customer service, they were not helpful at all. They never addressed why the DNS warning appears in the first place and essentially told me to go pay for another hosting service instead, because they don’t offer something as basic as domain redirection.

If you’re thinking of using Freename to save a few dollars, don’t. It’s not worth the frustration or the wasted time.

I've needed help from the support team several times and was impressed with everyone that I worked with. Chat usually only took a few minutes to connect and they were excellent. Knowledgeable, considerate and amazingly patient.

there is no clear documentation on how to use the domain. The requirement to Mint is confusing and does not make sense. The website is designed to convice you to purchase. its click bait.

This is an excellent platform for domain ownership, especially for Web3. People have good potential opportunities to make money here. Highly recommend.

I made a mistake in my order and contacted support. I was expecting a chat bot and FAQs that lead nowhere, and a lengthy process to rectify it (as is standard these days), and was amazed at the rapid and excellent response I got from Siful and the team.

Sieht sehr nach Verarschung aus.

Ich kaufte eine Domain die man dann natürlich erst minten muss, nachdem man dafür bezahlt hat.

WalletConect sollte eigentlich dafür sorgen, dass man seine eigene Wallet dafür verwenden kann um die Sicherheit zu erhöhen.

Doch Leider hängt WalletConnect auf der Seite in der ewigen Warteschleife.

Wenn man den Support kontaktiert, wird man nur ignoriert.

Man wird dadurch gezwungen, die Domains an die Custody Wallet von freename zu binden, wodurch freename am Ende die volle Kontrolle über die Domain hat obwohl ich sie käuflich erworben habe für fast 180$.

Ich rate hier zu äußerster vorsicht!!!
