I was not impressed with this company…
I was not impressed with this company from the start. I had signed up to have my policy payments debited from my account on the 15th of every month, so ONCE per month. Foresters debits my payments on BOTH the 8th AND the 23rd of every month...never on the 15th as planned and TWO payments per month not just one payment. I have attempted to cancel my policy with them on a few occasions, just to have them explain their way out of why they are defrauding me my money. So I decided to give them one more chance...well, here they go again, this month once again TWO payments on the 8th and 23rd, not on the 15th. So they are done, I have emailed to cancel my policy IMMEDIATELY or I will be seeking legal action against them. Their website as well is very vague, will not give you any info regarding your policy at all. Horrible fraudulent company.
Customer Service Slow and poor
I am trying to make a simple billing change from monthly to annual payments for my mother's policy. I submitted a power of attorney and a request for the billing change in December and made several calls and emails to confirm they had what they needed. After nearly 2 months they have advised that the notarized signature on the POA looks different than the file signature so they want an 88 year old woman in a different city to submit documentation. Let me reiterate, the POA was notarized. I gave up. I can't even imagine what hoops I will have to jump through once my mother passes.
Terrible Customer Service & deliberate misinformation
We had a Forester’s policy for my husband who passed away Nov 17. Let me start off by saying this company has the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. They are absolutely terrible at keeping notes in your file from one call to the next, and the misinformation reads to me as blatant lies to the customer.
After delay on delay, we were finally told the payout check was on its way. When that check was mistakenly redirected back to a different city, we requested a cancellation of the payment and an immediate reissue of another check. We were told that this would be rushed, and I would have the replacement check in my hands within two days. I was also promised that I would receive an email with a tracking number to follow up with the progress of the incoming replacement check. The 2 days passed and there was no cheque, and I never received a tracking number as promised. When I called again, I was told a completely different story. I was told that the check was absolutely canceled, but it would take up to two weeks for another check to be issued. I was extremely upset by this and felt like I had been lied to.
Then, the following week the initial check suddenly showed up at my agent’s office. I told him to destroy it as it was canceled, and we were still waiting on the replacement check to be issued. Not feeling comfortable doing this my agent contacted Forester’s who assured them the check had never been cancelled and to go ahead and deposit it as no other check had been re-issued. This completely contradicted what I had been told.
Based on the new information, I deposited the check only to receive notification from my bank 3 days later that it was bounced back. I am dumbfounded at the amount of lies, said to both myself and my agent regarding this payment.
This has been the most stressful ordeal I have ever gone through. It’s hard enough losing my husband of 44 years but to be put through this by this insurance company is beyond torture. My husband’s ashes are still sitting at the funeral home as I don’t have money to pay for his cremation until I receive the insurance money.

Do not use this company!!
Have been a client with this company since 2020, and I would never recommend them to anyone. Over the last few years I’ve had my credit card declined (expired). The notice they send gives instructions on how to CALL or EMAIL to update the authorized credit card information. No information on how to make a payment. I have done this a few years in a row now, and every year it’s the same thing. I have called before and made payments over the phone, and have updated my card info.
Today I tried to do the same thing with customer representative Korey L. This was the second rep I had been sent to after waiting 10 minutes just to talk to someone. The person who transferred me knew I was looking to pay with credit card and then sent me to someone who could do that transaction. I was asked about 10 security question during the second representative call (way more then the first rep) - to which I assumed would allow me to pay my bill. This was not the case. Korey L said I had to go online and make this payment through my bank. What kind of financial service doesn’t do payments over the phone?? Plus - I did it LAST YEAR!! So Korey L just didn’t want to do his job.
So, after wasting my time for 20min, no payment was made and the only help I received from the Korey L was just instructions on how to find Foresters Finacial through my bank.
I also asked for an email confirmation (removed my pre-authorized credit card they kept charging and not updating) of the conversation. This was sent as a secure access email that involved having to register and get a code sent in order to see the message. I requested 5 codes, NOTHING was sent!! Sooo I basically don’t have access to the conversation - my guess is Korey L didn’t want to be in trouble for not doing his job.
So this is the kind of company and employees they are. Very crappy with updating information, even when you call and talk to a rep - 3 years of this problem, 3 years calling and making payments and updating my credit card info (that hasn’t changed in 4 years). Plus they are temperamental and only will help you if they feel like it that day. And shady because they then hide the confirmation and make it impossible to get to.
DONT USE THIS COMPANY - a financial company should NOT operate in this manner.
Not to mention they have no easy way to make complaints! There is a number to call - which takes to to their main service line, so not even a specific line or department. You have to somehow navigate through the options in the automated message that doesn’t include making a complaint. So then you will talk to just a regular customer service rep to make a complaint about one of their co-workers??? And they say if you call, they may still require writing! But on no - no email…. SNAIL MAIL!!!!! WHAT!!! It’s 2025, and they don’t have an email complaint customers can write to? They obviously don’t care about complaints, or their customers. They just want your money, and don’t care about anything else.
They’re the most unethical company
They’re the most unethical company. They are not a US company and they have only a PO Box in New York to say they are US company. It is a Canadian company pretending to be a US company. They do not follow the US law. They sold me insurance and I paid it for 15 years And I learned that they are cheaters and they deceive people. Do not buy insurance from this company ever. Very very unethical company. They do not answer their phone and they deny your request. They are elderly abuse Company.

They sold the insurance to my husband saying that they were American insurance company. They lied they have a PO Box in New York, but the company is Canadian company. Most unethical insurance company ever. Don’t buy anything from this company. They are very unethical and disgrace to the insurance organization. Simply put they collect monthly insurance fees, and they never perform when it comes to it and they overcharge you. They don’t notify you via your email and send mail to some old address. They don’t email you. They don’t visit you in 15 years. They don’t call you. They don’t respond to their phone call I can go on and on. They do not comply with US regulations.

When i started to read about other people's experience and how they keep hassling me for money, i decided to back out but the account was blocked. I was directed by ecoban to file a complaint which helped massively.
DO THE RIGHT THING AND REFUND ME
I checked with my agent to make sure I had a living benefit rider that I had purchased with my life insurance policy. This was the reason that I purchased this policy because I thought the living benefit rider was good. I was told continuously I had been covered by my agent. However, when I called Foresters the representative would tell me that I didn't have this rider. I would check back with my agent and she ensured me that I was covered with the rider. I was checking on my policy recently, and I was told again by a representative that I didn't have the rider. On September 21, 2023, I reached out to my agent. She told me that I was covered by the rider and she would call Foresters to look into the issue. She got back to me this time to tell me that the rider didn't cover residents in California or New York. I've had this policy since April 2018 and have been paying into a policy that didn't include what I was paying for. I've requested that Foresters Financial refund me the portion that I was not covered. Out of greed and no integrity they will not refund me my money. Over and over again my agent insured me that I was covered over the years. I thought the rider was included. I always checked with my agent who then checked with them. I did nothing wrong and should get my refund. Foresters Financial is in the wrong and should not jeopardize their company over misrepresentation and false information. I paid a quarterly amount of $32.24 every 3 months for my life insurance along with what I thought was the living benefits rider. I purchased this insurance policy in April 2018 and I trusted my agent. This is a learning lesson for me to thoroughly look over a policy no matter what an agent says. Do the right thing Foresters and refund me.
