Horrible Customer Service. I truly believe that this company is fraudulent and is scamming people out of their money. I tried to get in contact with Embark July 28th requested a withdrawal and they gave me the run around saying only a specialist can help me with this and they will contact me in 24-72 hours. Ridiculous. Two days passed and they contacted me, I submitted my withdrawal documents on July 31st and was contacted August 6th!! by the specialist telling me MY name is incorrect on the form and because they believe I misspelled my name they will not submit my form, like I don't know my own name. This company is a joke. It is now Aug 11th and I haven't heard back from them since Aug 6th and my withdrawal has not yet been submitted. Stay away from this company. Especially Customer Success Representative - Jasneet

Horrible institution all around. We had two accounts for our two sons, one from 2015 and one from 2018. Last year we noticed that the accounts actually lost money, even at the heigh of the market. It took us a year to get our money out, and we couldn't do it until we got another institution involved. So, Had we invested in GIC since the beginning, we would have had about $10K more. Horrible, Horrible people. Stay away and note that you cannot put reviews on Google!

They explained how to refer people to Embark, which was helpful. I was especially happy to learn that my money had been safely kept for 18 years. I truly hope I will receive it, and that it will help my child pursue their education with the peace of mind that the fees are covered.
The person I spoke with was very calm and patient, taking the time to explain everything I needed to know. I also appreciated being able to follow the process closely with their support.

My brother took out education plans for 5 family members and close friends. He passed away 14 years ago and I took over the management of the plans. The company has been purchased or rebranded 3 times, currently Embark. Through multiple experiences they have demonstrated they don't have or can't access their historical data. I have been told multiple times that only the Subscriber, my deceased brother, can make specific requests or have specific access. I have submitted the death certificate, will, etc multiple times. I have wasted countless hours dealing with their incompetence and unprofessional conduct. I am fighting to complete the claim on the final plan and will be infinitely grateful to never deal with Embark again.

Avoid Embark RESP – 17 Years of Trust Betrayed at the Most Critical Time
After 17 years of faithfully contributing to Embark RESP and trusting them with my children's education savings, I am appalled by the level of disorganization, lack of communication, and complete disregard for families relying on timely disbursements for university tuition.
Our son was admitted into a top Canadian university, and we initiated the withdrawal process on July 15, 2025, after uploading the Confirmation of Enrolment as required (Embark does NOT accept admission or acceptance letters – we did our research and followed their protocol). We received an automatic confirmation that the funds were being processed and would be available within 7–10 business days.
Nothing happened.
No funds. No updates. Just a looming tuition invoice from the university.
I emailed contact care and waited over 24 hours – no response whatsoever. Eventually, I called their customer service line and was connected to an agent named Laurence. What followed was an exhausting hour-long call, including being put on hold five times. The conclusion? The Confirmation of Enrolment from Canada's #1 university wasn't "sufficient." We were now being asked to upload an admission letter (which they previously explicitly stated they do not accept) and a timetable.
To make matters worse, Laurence (the Agent) claimed they had emailed us on July 17. We scoured our inbox, junk, spam – nothing. When pressed to confirm that the email was actually sent, the story changed: "I saw a notification the email was sent, but I’m not sure how or when it was sent."
This level of incompetence and confusion is unacceptable – especially after 17 years of commitment to this company. This is our child’s future we are talking about. Embark failed when it mattered most.
I am warning every parent and guardian: DO NOT entrust your RESP with Embark. Their internal systems are broken, their communication is unreliable, and their processes are inconsistent at best. Take your hard-earned savings to a more credible, structured, and transparent organization. You deserve better. Your children deserve better.
For us, we would be transfering the accounts of our kids to other provider becasue they deserve better than Embark!
Zero stars if I could.
Note: I did not share my experience to get a call or email back; the time for that was over. Your company has requested additional information in Timetable and admission letter, which I have provided. All I need from you is to disburse the funds. The enrollment is highly competitive and the payment of tuition is one of the requirements to seal your place. If our son missed the course enrollment due to your company's structural problems, I will drag you to court.
