Everything was great—the quality of the RV, the service; everything was in excellent condition and worked perfectly.

Loved our two week RV tour - the vehicle itself was ideal for what we wanted and it served us well for the time we were away in it. On collection there was 2/3’rds of a tank of fuel, they filled it for us no problem and off we went.

Rules of return are that you just return the RV as you found it. No problem at all with that as it’s the same anywhere for rental vehicles. Fuel $170 dollars - filled to the click, propane - $3 dollars filled to the click.

Return to RV rental company, unloaded, vehicle inspection and apparently the fuel is at 3/4’s full not full even though we filled it as full as the fuel pump would allow - because it wasn’t ’full’ (despite it being filled to the brim) - that’ll be an additional $70 please???!!!! Explain that we have filled to click and just get looked at blankly with a ‘sorry sir’.

Work that one out! Needless to say it’s left a sour taste in the mouth. If they do this with every RV then that soon adds up to a tidy sum.

Prepare for that when you return. Bit of a rubbish end to what was a good holiday!

Excellent service, clear information and practical basic instructions, both at the check in and check out. Motorhome with great facilities, without any problem with maintenance.

Es war unsere erste Reise mit einem RV. Bei der Übergabe wurde uns alles ausführlich erklärt, alle Fragen wurden beantwortet.
Während der Reise kontaktierten wir zweimal den Kundendienst. Wir haben innerhalb kürzester Zeit eine hilfreiche Antwort erhalten.
Die Übergabe am Ende erfolgte schnell und problemlos.

Overall it went well, but there are two or three points that absolutely need improvement.
The most negative point is your system for security deposits with foreign credit cards. Indeed, there were four of us, each with three credit or debit cards from French and Swiss banks; none were accepted by the system, which is not acceptable in 2026, Especially for a company that deals internationally in vehicle rentals.
At the Las Vegas branch, the young woman who greeted us did her best and tried to be understanding when the system rejected our cards, but unfortunately, there was nothing she could do.
She brought in her manager, a small woman with glasses who was neither friendly nor empathetic. She didn't try to understand and tried the credit cards, which didn't work. She told us to sort it out with our bank and come back tomorrow. This was unacceptable, especially since we are nine hours ahead of Las Vegas in France, making it impossible to contact the bank.
Thankfully, my wife spoke with a very friendly and welcoming young Black woman who called the man I thought was the real manager, who sorted things out for us the old-fashioned way, on a written document.
Despite everything, we lost two hours of our time and had to cancel some of our visits.
On top of all that, the campervan's tank wasn't full, and the electric charging cables weren't available at the campsites; obviously, we only noticed this at the first campsite.
We therefore had to book a hotel for the night because it was far too hot and we couldn't stay in the campervan without air conditioning. Fortunately, the after-sales service was competent and responsive, although we still had to make a long detour to pick up the cable in Flagstaff.
In the end, it's lucky I took a picture of the fuel level because the gentleman who received the campervan would have charged me. This gentleman from the San Diego agency was very welcoming and friendly.

Customer service phone reps during the initial rental was awesome. They were RESPONSIVE, helpful and friendly. The office we went into to pick up the RV was, maybe understaffed? They were unorganized for sure. We had a pick up time for 3:00 pm. We had a plan to leave that afternoon for wedding in Montana. We waited almost 2 hours to be told that our RV was not available and they were upgrading us at no charge. The only thing is that the slide out did not work. First off, a larger RV seems to need more gas, they said not much more. And they had the right, per their contract to put us in a larger one at time of pick up. I did state that for the amount I am paying, I want an RV that is in complete working condition. To that, the manager said, there is no guarantee that the rv we received would have a slide out anyway. So it shouldn’t bother us that it did not work. They said they could put us in another RV but it would take another hour or so to get it cleaned and ready to go. We were already set back on time waiting so long and they were all antsy because they were closing and wanted to leave. We took the broken rv. Finally, at 5 pm we were taken to the RV. It was filthy and I had to take it home and thoroughly clean it before I could put our belongings in. Think about going into a dirty hotel room and paying a lot to sleep there. During our trip at 3 am one morning we got a constant CO2 alarm. Not knowing what to do I called the 24/7 emergency number on our key at least 5 times. I was hung up on all 5 times. We luckily had another RV-er who gave us some help. No 24/7 help at all. We had told two different friends of ours about El Monty, they are renting a RV within the next couple months, telling them that they were great and had better deals. This was based on the initial customer service over the phone. I would not recommend El Monty at this point. Not a good experience.

Air conditioning and fan did not work the first day. No air came out of the vent even though the motor was running. We had to call several times for help, which never showed up. We had to turn off the fuse to turn off the air conditioner motor.

I paid 1500$ as deposit and returned car, everthing was fine except about cleaning, so i paid 1517$ dollor again.
Since i return RV 2weeks ago, deposit still did not come my account.
They are thief.

Good RV, with a few minor problems however, and outrageously expensive for using at Burning Man.

We had a one way rental - California to Chicago. The introduction for the RV was very efficient. As a Beginner RVer, I learned all I needed! We traveled the e tire Route 66. A hugely ambitious undertaking! We did it thanks to El Monte! I thank them for this once in a life time, un forget table experience. Live your bucket list!

Very helpful and answered all my questions. The RV ran great considering we drove over 5K in thirty days.

Booking was all right. RV was in good condition. No technical issues. Interior was okay. Some smaller thinks were not all right: missing window lock, missing sticker for vehicle's heigth and width, broom for cleaning. Charging 14 USD per camping chair which are really low quality is a joke. You can buy cheaper chairs e.g. at Walmart. Bathroom doors kept swinging open which was annoying. Also, pick up was delayed due to the missing window lock (which they didn't even notice). Giving back was even worse since the San Diego team seems to be a sub contractor which has to contact the main office for changes in the invoice. Since our final invoice was wrong (system wanted to charge us for full miles even though we had 1,000 miles included), it took as two hours until we were finally allowed to leave, with the information that we'll receive an invoice regarding the open balance for the extra miles. Due to smaller issues (bathroom doors, broken key) we added a stop to the El Monte RV San Francisco location which was really good. They fixed the issues in an hour even though they had a lot of business going on and we didn't give them notice before arriving. Much appreciated!

Overall, we had a good experience with smaller issues.

The best trip I did in my life!

Scammed. Was told I had to pay 1500 for burning man, ended up charging me 2000.

Drop-off and pickup was relatively easy, the staff is knowledgeable. The RV was in good condition for the burning man, except that the Awning stopped working after we picked up.

When we entered the store, maybe 11:45-ish, we were told there'd be a wait because staff just went to lunch. My wife and I said no problem, it's great there is a break for lunch given. And to this we got a grandstand speech, actually more a lecture, on how yes, the employees DID deserve a lunch break and they needed to eat, too. It was the strangest, most degrading *agreement* response I have ever witnessed and most certainly received. Just WTF.
The remainder of the rental experience was par for the course, the RV made strange noises once on the road but was safe. The grey tank level constantly read 2/3 full regardless of its remaining capacity. We were charged the entire $1500 cleaning fee even if we used the RV/truck wash recommended by El Monte themselves.
Summary - praise the workers when you meet them, make sure they've had lunch and maybe a nap so they're not so grumpy, do absolutely nothing to clean the RV before returning and budget the cleaning fee into your travels.

We had a great experience renting from El Monte RV! The entire process was straightforward, from pickup through return, and the staff were friendly, helpful, and made sure we understood everything before we hit the road.

The RV was clean, comfortable, and well equipped, and everything worked as expected throughout our trip. It gave us plenty of space and made traveling and camping so much more convenient and enjoyable.

Returning the RV was just as easy as picking it up, and the overall experience felt organized and hassle-free. We’d definitely rent from El Monte RV again for another road trip and would recommend them to anyone looking for an easy, comfortable RV rental experience.
