I attended the beginners course as a gift and learned a huge amount. Being a novice I barely knew how to use my camera at the start of the day, but thanks to Roland's expert teaching, felt much more comfortable knowing how to get the best from it by the end of the day and was able to take some great shots. The course was a perfect mix of theory and practical exercises and Roland was able to support us throughout the day and answer our questions. I thoroughly recommend this course to anyone beginning out with photography, you won't be disappointed. One of the best training courses I've ever attended. Thanks so much Roland.

I am extremely happy with my beginners course. My course tutor is highly knowledgeable, experienced, professional, thorough and very patient. We received individual attention considering we were in a group. I loved the practical tests, the questions and answers session. It was unhurried and a lovely learning pace. This course was enchanting and a real eye opener into photography. The communication and empathy is excellent. This course is a great value for money and I cannot wait to progress to the next stage with this company. I highly recommend them.

Our company booked a photography session with Ronald and I honestly couldn't recommend them enough. Being a complete novice I had a DSLR camera I would set on auto, point and shoot. Ronalds teaching was clear, concise and he allowed us to learn by "doing", physically allowing us to see how different settings had different effects on the image and allowing us to understand what we needed to change to get the perfect shot. If I could give more stars I would and I'll definitely be booking their next course soon!

Fantastic course, got exactly what I wanted out of it. Though I had played around with adobe lightroom prior to the course I still got loads of great tips and tricks to improve. Thanks Roland for detailed and structured approach.

Lightroom Classic was a mystery to me until I attended the course at DSLR Photography
Roland explained the system in a very easy to understand way and I am now confident with most parts of LrC
I would recommend anyone who is struggling with LrC to contact DSLR

Great workshop on flower photography tutored by Polina Plotnikova. She has a great easy style, I learned lots and came away with good techniques to try.

I attended 2 of their courses:
- DSLR for beginners with Aga
- Composition with Roland.

Both courses were absolutely brilliant.

For years I have been using my DLR only with the Automatic mode. After one lesson with Aga (Beginners course) I finally understood how to use my camera ! I won't pretend to be a professional just yet but at least I understand how the DLR works and how I can practise with it.

Also, I found really helpful to attend the course with Roland - not just for composition but also to understand a bit more on how I can use the different modes and settings to obtain a better photo.

Portrait and Studio Lighting course held on Sunday June 12th 2022.
There were only four of us on the course which meant that we each had plenty of time for questions and for taking photographs in the afternoon.
The morning session was very informative as Aga showed us plenty of examples from the history of art that illustrated different light techniques, from Renaissance to Impressionism and beyond. We were then shown examples of these in photography and discussed pictures from magazines.
Different types of lights were demonstrated, along with umbrellas, soft boxes etc.
After lunch we were joined by our model Octavia. We each took turns to photograph her using Split lighting, Rembrandt lighting, Loop lighting and Butterfly lighting. Throughout the afternoon Octavia was very patient and cooperative and there was always a pleasant, friendly atmosphere. I learnt a great deal, really enjoyed the opportunities that the course provided and left feeling inspired to buy some lights and improve my technique.
I would thoroughly recommend this course for anyone wanting to do the same.

A wonderful half day creative course. Roland is such a patient, supportive and knowledgeable tutor. It really helped get my confidence back which was exactly what I was hoping for. Can't wait to get back out and take more photos! Thank you so much

Great course well paced. Course content was good, very clear and gives you a better understanding of your camera and what to do with the functions and settings. Presenter was great, very knowledgeable and very supportive.

I had a one-to-one session with Roland and learned more in 3 hours than I had managed to teach myself in 3 years! Roland was friendly, extremely patient and did not think any question was too silly (which, given my lack of knowledge, turned out to be A Good Thing), so I felt relaxed and able to ask him anything. I came away from the lesson feeling much more confident. He has emailed me a PDF of the lesson and some more information which is super helpful. I am going to practise at home for a while, before booking another session to take my knowledge further. I am very much looking forward to it.

This course gave me confidence to take pictures in manual mode with adjustment to ISO, shutter speed and exposure. I would strongly recommend this course to my friends.

Amazing beginner course for those who have a small amount of knowledge or none at all. I went as a complete beginner and was so well looked after- really impressive stuff and genuinely worth a go!

My partner bought me this as a gift (via a gift voucher from them). This course is just what I wanted. I had a DSLR camera for a while and sometimes managed to take good photos, with the camera doing most of the thinking for me. Every good photographer I ever met always had their settings on manual. Whenever I tried that all I got was unintentional blur.
The information provided before I even arrived was spot on and covered all my questions about what to bring and how to get there.
It was a small group - just 4 of us - which was the perfect size group. Rowland, the instructor, was able to give each of us as much time as we needed to figure out what we were doing and where we needed help.
The day started with the camera in control of most of the decisions and he explained visually, with his own photos what the camera was thinking through the type of photo that was produced. At each step we had a turn ourselves. Throughout the day he showed us how to take more and more control of our camera. At the end of the day I was confident with my ability to use my camera on fully manual - I was so impressed with the photos I took. Like anything I will need to practice to keep the knowledge in my head and through experience I'm sure I will be able to put all I learned to create some amazing photos.
Rowland was a fantastic teacher, very knowledgeable. There was the right level of theory and practical teaching and learning. I can't recommend this course enough it was just brilliant.
The following day I was sent an email with all the information from the day in a pdf.
I cant wait to use my camera.

I attended the beginner's course wanting to gain some basic control of my camera so I could start to practice. I had a very enjoyable day and gained exactly what I was looking for: the skills to allow me to understand why a certain shot is turning out a certain way, and how I can change the settings to achieve what I'm looking for. Roland is clearly extremely knowledgeable and passionate about his subject, so it was a pleasure to spend time in his company and learn from him. I intend to practice a lot and hopefully come back to learn some more at the next level.

I attended the beginners course.
Aga, the instructor was excellent. Clearly extremely technically skilled, she also was excellent at instructing and teaching a group.
The group was small, the facilities were perfect for what we needed.
The course really maximised the available time, not a moment was wasted - Aga even offered to make drinks so we didn't waste any time at all making drinks, and we could just practice, practice, practice.
Looking forward to next course!

Awesome course! Came out feeling like i knew everything i needed to know

I highly recommended this course. Roland was great. His course was clear, easy explained and he helped us individually to set our cameras. The course had a session to practice in few scenarios in the afternoon. Would have been nicer if “DSRL”could make a photo course package with the same course and some outdoor practice included.

Fantastic photography course for beginners or if you want to get back into photography! I truly enjoyed the course, the pace and interaction! No time to get bored!
The course is simple and easy or follow not too technical; also small groups allows time for questions and clarification.Thanks Roland for a great day I will indeed progress and subscribe to the intermediate one.
